  1. Thanks, here until early April so I have plenty of time. That makes sense. The neurologist was looking at it on screen and showing me the indication I had been knocked in the head more than once in youth sports.
  2. Due to events on this trip, I have had an MRI and x-rays at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. It has occurred to me that I may want/need to follow up with my primary care provider when I get home so I was checking to see how I would get my records and the images, particularly the MRI. Found this page on the BPH site. http://www.bangkokpattayahospital.com/en/medical-document-services-en.html. There's a form to download which doesn't look too bad. I suspect that copies of the MRI images might be a bit pricey, but nothing compared to another MRI in the US. And yes, I do care even if insurance would p
  3. I wasn't thinking of fees paid directly to NHS. What about taxes going toward NHS operations?
  4. Remember, you are paying for the NHS, or whatever it is now called in the UK. Not saying that single payer is the wrong way to do it. Just don't think that your health care is "free."
  5. Sunday morning posting. "Or" was supposed to be "what." Between the sky is falling alarmism and caution, you won't find out what is going on in AC from the Philippines based boards.
  6. Okay Maj, since this is not an RP based board, can you tell us what is actually going on in AC. Or would you need a new nik?
  7. You're familiar with the diagnostic procedures but a consultation, by itself, with a doctor at Bangkok Pattaya is dirt cheap. I saw an orthopedic specialist yesterday and had a shoulder xray (clearly in order) for 2,030 baht. If they want to do anything significantly pricey, they'll let you know up front.
  8. Who said you have no pull around this joint?
  9. I have my Samsung S3 in an Otter Box (brand name) casing. It has a rubber cover around the back and edges with holes for the power and ear phone ports as well as for the camera, flash and speaker. The rubber cover is held in place by a hard plastic shell. I had thought it might be splash resistant. Recently, it was fully immersed (not intentionally, trust me) and the phone still works.
  10. By comparison, in the U.S., we charge people without insurance, or without the right flavor of insurance more, If your provider is not in your insurance company's preferred provider network or you don't have insurance, you will easily be charged 100% more for the same service.
  11. When we talk about farang surcharge, are we saying that for the same treatment/services at the same private hospital, Bangkok Pattaya for example, a farang will be charged more than a Thai? Not saying it isn't so, but sometimes I think people are comparing charges at a Thai government hospital with charges at a private hospital.
  12. We've got a couple of BMs who are still with us after treatment at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya for major cardiac events.
  13. It does seem to be a topic for "discussion" among your compatriots in Kiev.
  14. For some reason, I had the impression you could not call U.S. toll free (800) numbers from outside the U.S. That's a problem to the extent that the toll free number is often the only one shown on commercial web sites. Had the issue arise today, and before I started wondering around the internet to find a "regular number", I tried the 800 number. As expected, I got a recorded message in Thai. What I did not expect was that I then got a recorded message in English saying that if I let the call go through, it would be with a regular toll. I was happy to let it go through as a toll call.
  15. I'm having a little trouble tracking all that, but the Lao visa will take a full page.
  16. Coming from the U.S., an Otter Box [brand name] case may be a good bet. My Samsung 3G I am using to do this post was fully immersed and survived in an Otter Box. Not an intentional test!
  17. Lomotil contains atropine. I'm sure there are one or two other BMs who first/last heard of atropine in chemical warfare training in the military as the content of the injector you stuck in your thigh because you had been exposed to nerve agents. I don't think so, particularly not self-prescribed.
  18. Back when Gabor was routinely posting pictures of his new friends, they were often tastefully clad in a mostly red towel.
  19. Best I can tell, Gabor does not live in the elevator, no red towel in sight.
  20. On elevator door. Luddite alert, it was posted horizontally.
  21. Anything other than a 6-9am departure because I'm not going to sleep for crap the night before and it's too late to stay up. Going to do it in August, though, to then catch a business class Delta seat in Portland using miles.
  22. Under narrow circumstances, I can be claustrophobic. That wasn't really kicking in, but I certainly didn't appreciate the "Gee, what do we do now?" approach of my fellow vertical travelers.
  23. That is plausible. And no, not a knock on VT2A as opposed to a commentary on the ability of our neighbors to pour piss out of a boot when the instructions are written on the heel.
  24. I certainly would not want any of those folks in exit row of a flight I was on
