He was just packing the midfield, and main concern was not to lose; which he achieved. At the moment his 1st concern is with Friday's super cup; where I reckon you'll see what he considers his first XI. I really don't think he actually wants Rooney for Chelsea, and it wouldn't surprise me if the Whillian signing was just an Abromovic slap in the face for Levy, for being an arsehole over Modric and others! They have an awful lot of "quality" players there at the moment, playing in similar positions, and would expect a few to be going out on loan before the window closes. Rooney is going nowhe

I was briefly watching some nonsense football show over the weekend where Brad Friedel (who has probably seen more managers than most) , when asked "Who is the worst manager you have played under" remarkably candid and quick, came up with Mark Hughes!

For some reason totally unknown to me , these better rates (in my case £ sterling) seem to be more available in UK than as has always traditionally been the case, on the streets in Pattaya. I had an Email notification from a broker that I have used in the past offering in excess of Jacko's "dream" 50 Baht /£last week; provided £1000 or more was exchanged. (Down to 49 now). I have not seen that mythical 50 mentioned for Thai exchanges though!

Do you run a lottery business from Nigeria as well? -
I was under the impression that "Scum" was the collective name given to my lot at Old Trafford. Mainly from the Yorkshire regions.

New U.S. Tax Law - does it affect people in Thailand?
Fatboyfat replied to Trvlr's topic in Expat Issues
Probably said in jest, but I have heard it is an action being investigated by the incumbant UK government. Although the prime directive appears to be to hit expats and "quasi-expats" with NHS restrictions/prohibitions. Unlikely to happen though unless Tories are voted in for a second term. -
As a matter of intrest, was the site of the attrocities still there, and preserved, or were the blocks pulled down?

2E is directly opposite 2F (covered walkway) and is a 5 minute walk at the very most.

Best place to get American food in Bangkok
Fatboyfat replied to short's topic in Restaurants and food
Baked Alaska ..... Oh Yeah! Whoever first thought that one up deserves more recognition. So hard to find a restaurant that does it though, for obvious reasons. Asked the "missus" to make it (or at least get the cooking sister to do it) and was accused of being a lunatic ! -
Just had a newsletter from Emirates stating they will be flying directly into Clark (Angeles City) daily from 1st October. Return price looks to be circa £630 cattle class from UK airports (£3000 biz class; which is a poor price). Select the right flights and Dubai connections are about 3 hours both ways.

Has he not had the place up for sale (at a "crazy" price of course) ever since he moved in there? Much the same as most privately owned Pubs in the UK are; in possible anticipation of some "sucker" coming along!

Those are my 2 favoured dishes, well Phalls in place of Vindaloo anyway, and I have yet to find a good example of either in the whole of Pattaya. The one at the Sai 2 end of Soi Post Office (name escapes me at the mo', but very close to the Hot & Cold horror show) did the best Biryani that I have had, but it was a couple of years back, and the cooks do change; it also wasn't that great. Whilst I am still travelling I tend to leave the Indian food to UK, Singapore or UAE nowadays!

Knock it all you like, but this bar has been an exemplary success since they first came on the scene (some 20 odd years ago). The food bit is just cashing in on a missing variation from Soi 8, and the clientele are most unlikely to be seeking cordon bleu; just what "they" would consider a proper meal, rather than street food. Booze has always been reasonably priced, and I really liked their "diminishing bar fine commensurate to ladydrinks bought" idea. Don't know whether that is still running. They have a good "business plan" I would say Wouldn't get my custom though Music drives me nuts !

http://standrewsrayong.com Is another option for the Ban Chang vicinity. My "missus" is an employee there in the kindergarten stream there at the moment.

I find "league" rather boring myself, and a tad parochial, but I would say that it is the one sport that the Aussies do remain the world leaders in; and would expect them to win their version of a World Cup.

6th floor only. I actually prefer the combined bath/shower when the bathrooms are that compact.

Walking Street at eight in the morning.....
Fatboyfat replied to Billions's topic in Pictorial Travel Reports
Excellent "photologue" as usual Billions. The place looks like some run-down third world slum in those early hours! -
A bit harsh methinks "T". As an aside though, this Eatwell place was recommended to me as a surprisingly good Indian restaurant, so I was a bit surprised to see "Pig Anglaise" on the specials menu !

Thanks Spike. I've been trying to find those pix for over a year now! The Sea view from all of their Deluxe Seaview rooms is excellent, but you have to think that it is only a matter of time before another monstrous carbuncle goes up in that space.

From what I can make out from a few "trip advisor" reports is that the bathroom is still the same and the only real differences are that there is no carpets, and an in-room safe is fitted. So all-in-all it would appear that you pay an extra 300 Baht per night for a safe! I don't put too much store in trip advisor though.

Asiana B777 crashes at San Fransisco airport
Fatboyfat replied to dennismoore's topic in Airline Discussion
Wrt report of emergency vehicle being responsible for death of one of the survivors… an absolute tragedy, including for the driver of the vehicle, who will be going through hell; probably for the rest of his/her life. These two girls were just 16 & 17 years old.
