I also miss Gary and the gang at the Alamo Bar. He was a great guy, used to rent his condo. Polo had the best looking GoGo girls on Walking Street 6-7 years ago. Took a few to Bangkok and Koh Chang for holiday. Steadily declined in quality over the years and eventually replaced with farang women.

I recommend Fuji.

South Pattaya? I ride my bike to pattaya frequently and often stay at the Jasmine Hotel on Soi BJ, just off Walking Street. There's a small area in front to park bikes and reception can keep an eye on it. About 800 You have to arrive before Walking Street is closed to traffic. You can park bikes underneath the Diamond Beach Hotel on Soi Diamond, but many of the rooms there have roaches. about 1000

I go to Koh Chang frequently, last weekend I stayed at Nirvana near Bang Bao Village. It's a great place to relax. The main mongering bars are at White Sands Beach, across from the Chonburi Resort. It's possible to find some gems but the overall quality of the girls is not great so you may want to bring your own if you're particular. Sunday Brunch at Casa Pascal and Friday Seafood Buffet at Montien Hotel. Not cheap, but good quality. Also try the make-your-own tacos with ribs and chicken at Beefeaters on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, only 250 baht excluding drinks.

I was a little disappointed in the ribs (pork), expected better, especially the sauce. Fajitas are good, combo plates are great, margaritas' tasty.

I frequently stay at Jasmine Hotel on Soi BJ, just off Walking Street. I think it was build 3 years ago. Very basic, no pool, no phone, no elevator (but can usually get a room on 2nd floor). Great location and price, last summer I paid 450/night. 800 high season.

Try Shenanigans for a great breakfast. Bacon & eggs, toast, baked tomato, baked beans & 2 sausages, and 2 cups of fresh coffee for 160. Eggs Benedict also good, comfortable surroundings, watch some live sports action.

I've stayed at both and Flipper House was far too noisy, I would never stay there again. I could hear street noise at 3 AM, even from the 6th floor. But Flipper Lodge is fine.

I stay here frequently. Rates are 450-800 depending on season. Elevator not a big problem since you can usually get a room on the second floor. Very basic (no phone,no pool), but clean rooms, free wifi, and good location. The rooms have a small kitchenette with hot plates, which is a concern. During one stay somebody on the 4th floor started a fire by accidentally hitting the power switch after placing some items there.

Can get Beer Lao at Heavens Above GoGo. Good beer. Cheers
