Thanks for the advice. I am still playing with the idea and I will download the Kingsoft as well and see how that works. . I still have some time to experiment.

Book in for a couple of days and go around the area for a look. I am sure that there are better places than these.

A couple of years ago I raised the question here about the compatability of Open Office. My situation is that I have a PC and a laptop and both need replacing but the software (in my home country) will be in the region of 14000 baht and I only use Word and occasionally a spreadsheet for simple calcs. While all is working I recently downloaded the Apache version and have been sending it to all my own accounts as attachments and to my mobile. I had to download an app for my phone as it would not open but so far computer to computer it has been great and no loss of formatting. I have also stared send out attachments to friends etc and this has been no problem either. Has anyone out there any comments to make about possible downsides and issues before I take a changeover further.

Then quite simply they will lose business. I have never not been able to get 6 Kamagara in a pharmacy for the last few years and I have never been to Tims one. There are places off Soi 6 and on Buakhao that have this as their standard costing.

There seems to be a general belief that Chinese air lines are only now appreciating how to treat Western clients and it is for this reason that they seem amateurs. I flew China Southern last year and the flight was ok but neither the beer or white wine was chilled. because of the massive saving and a supply of 180 baht Thai sleeping pills I simply slept all that I could, but then I do that most trips.

Brilliant. I usually ignore these briefings but it sure as hell would get my attention.

One other thing that I didn't realise when I wrote this was that I can in fact top up any phone from the machine in AIS. All this 'learning' came about when a mate sent me his sim card and asked me to top it up when I came to LOS as his was due to expire before his next trip. I duly did this with all the hassles involved (using the spare phone and mail to and fro the guy) and it was only when I was introduced to the machine that I realised that I could put in my ten baht and select any number to add the credit to. Just to save people getting pissed off at me I can see me having a couple of sessions each time I am in Pattaya as I get to Central Plaza a few times each week even if its just for a ice cream at Mc Donalds.

Thanks for the report. I never stop learning from this site. I had no idea that there was a border crossing there.

A Few shots from this afternoon
teelack replied to lanzalad's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
There is a lot of talk about Sonkran but seems to me you have caught the essence of the thing and made me thankful not to be there! -
You will notice that the topic concerned 1 2 Call and as you can read this is not the case.

Hi and sorry for the delay in responding. Thanks for your comments and I want to acknowledge my mistake when I posted my review. I was of course thinking INDIAN curry and then I realised that in fact what I was having was a curry in a Chinese restaurant and this is of course a totally different thing and to be honest not something that I am not qualified to comment on. I admit to knowing little about Chinese cuisine from any place but the bottom line is still that I enjoyed what I had even if I didnt understand precisely what I was eating.

Thanks. Seems like Buakhao will soon be called Eats Steet. The meals looked OK but the chilli looked a bit sparse for the price? Unlike MM I wouldnt know a Mex flavour so that is lost on me but I will certainly put this place on the list. I realise that this is possibly not the right place but I was introduced to the two small Thai places and the Greek souvolaki bar next door to the Malee (about 50 metres past the Sawadee heading north.). My God but these places are brilliant value for money as I have walked out stuffed for less than 100 baht on a few occasions..

Spankys VIP X Pat Card
teelack replied to spankys bar soi diamond's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
From the reports here it seems that the management need to pull their collective fingers out. Draft beer selectively and coyotes when they advise that there are zero. Seems that they are just telling the punters what they think that they want to hear. -

And in the same light I appreciate your taking the time to share your insder experience of running a gogo -
The entire purpose of my topic was to advise those that either were a long time between trips or had a sim that required more regular up dates. If this does not apply to you then this is great but there are a lot that I believe would benefit from the advice I offered.

I also got an email from Expedia. The deal was a minimum 50% off accommodation and I have to say that there was some very good deals in Pattaya.

Spankys VIP X Pat Card
teelack replied to spankys bar soi diamond's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Does this mean that whoever is posting from Spankies is telling deliberate lies to the board? I would be interested to know as I take these things quite seriously. Sure, Gabor and Idefix could have both made the same mistake but both of these members have a great Pattaya knowlege so... -

IMHO what Patnas photos prove is that there are diamonds in the rough everywhere in Pattaya. Quite often when you take a girl from a gogo your first sight of her in her street clothes can be a disappointment whereas these photos show that with a bit of effort the girls can be very acceptable. -
Always appreciated MM. I am surprised at your lack of Turkish. The words for Fridge and Passport sound exactly the same as Strawberry Swirl and Walnut Cream.

Availability of Smartphone replicas

After my bad experience with a Pattaya copy I started looking at the on line sales sites at home. There were a lot of people buying phones direct from China and selling them with a short guarantee but at an excellent price for the features that I got. I bought one and when I had questions on operation I did get immediate response. The phone came with a wide rage of accessories and was guaranteed to work on all local frequencies so I really could not lose. That was two years ago. At the time I didnt even know that I wanted a smart phone but I know now that I will never go back. I have an el cheapo phone and at the airport I swap the sim cards and leave my home phone on and in the safe in my room should there be any urgent messages. My smart phone does have a twin sim facility but I never use it. Losing one sim would be bad but losing two a disaster. Leaving my home sim in the safe in an old phone is fine by me. The morral of the story is to look on the Internet at home fiorst for a copy rather than taking a chance in Thailand. -
That's a bit unfair when the lady has in fact chosen to advertise for free here and has in fact invited criticism of her operation. I was indeed surprised at the people that said that they would never enter a place where smoking was allowed as I have never even considered it but anyone reading the thread who is contemplating opening a massage place might be going through a re-think. I have to admit that in all the times (and that quite a few) I have never been asked for a tip at Eden or had what I offer criticized and I am about a 40/50 baht tipper there. I suspect that you were unlucky. Wert to Target last month. There was some low level 'touchy feely' but not enough to make me have a second session.

Every day while I am in Pattaya I tend to go for an oil massage. Lets be honest and say that a massage is an oil hit and miss affair and I am yet to be convinced that a 300 baht or 250 baht massage is better than a 200 baht one. There are hundreds of places in the Soi Buakhao, Chiaphoum and Lenkee area offering a 200 baht version including Eden where what you get is a quality straight massage. I appreciate the OP coming on and offering a new service and having the courage to take the criticism that inevitably flows however here IMHO is the reality of massage in Pattaya. 1. Most of the girls really want to rub a bit of oil on your back and as soon as possible get you to buy extras. 2. There are many places offering a real massage for 200 baht and no pressure for sex. 3. There are some dreadfully dire places in terms of the beds and fitting but then again there are a lot that are totally acceptable. 4. For some of us trying a new place daily can be a part of the Pattaya experience. 5. My experience lets me have a list of places where I can guarantee either a straight or an erotic massage and I like that certainty. 6. The best actual massage I had this past trip was with the oldest lady. The hello girl passed me onto her but I had no complaints.

Yes but for 10 baht per month extended why would you?
-
I will watch this space with interest. Anything that improves my Pattaya experience is welcome. The only caveat that I would make is to ask you that when you make a deal make sure that the staff are trained to handle the enquiry---a very common failing. I have for instance yet to get my Spanky discount card when they told me to come back with a passport! Silliness like that will get you a bad reputation quickly and in a month at Pattaya I never bought one drink there as it was annoying to me and there are many other places to go.

Availability of Smartphone replicas
teelack replied to villaman's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
My experience is to leave them alone. 1. Quality crap. 2. Found out that the phone would not work on my cell phone providers sim when I got it home. I realise that there are a lot of phones out there and some that I have seen the girls with seem the part but take them out side Thailand and it could be a different story.
