  2. Thanks but for me this place would be a no no. I spend hours round the pool each day and in all you pix no shade whatsoever be it trees of umbarellas.
  3. Well I took the trouble to get blood pressure checked before taking the stuff which I assume that most BM's dont before swallowing their medicines which may or may not be fake.
  4. The problem is that a lot of the crap that they sell in Tucom seems to be available all over town. I would say that its buyer beware everywhere. It sure as hell isnt confined to Tucom.
  5. As a side issue I was chatting to my GP about Avigra /Viagra etc. In addition to giving me samples he also wrote out a perscription "In case you fancy some later". Good man that.
  6. While on the theme. If I do up grade (or should I say when) I will also have to get some new software such as an Office suite. Do the BMs use the standard Microsoft software such as this or the free versions of open ware? I have never use an open source programme so have no ideas of the ups and downs.
  7. Thanks all you have sent me off on a search. I have noted that most modern monitors have HDMI input. The one thing I have not yet tracked down is a reasonably priced laptop with a SSD which I do believe is worth the money for a small user like me who is also prepared to back up to an external hard drive for photographs.
  8. Off the top of my head it left at 7pm and got into Bangkok early pm the next day. This suited me fine as it lined up with the Bell bus.
  9. Thanks. Thay makes a lot of sense but I wasnt aware that you could by=pass the screen and use a large one. Seems I need to do some homework.
  10. I went via Manchester , Zurich to Bangkok via Swiss Air. Its only an hour more than a direct flight.
  11. Soi 9 has to be about the centre of Pattaya, There is nothing that is not handy from the location.
  12. I am at the stage where I need to upgrade my PC and my laptop is a very ordinary beast. I have had the laptop a year and use the PC less and less but I hang onto things because I am not sure what I will lose if I dump it. I will miss the large screen on the PC but then again I love using the laptop on holiday and in bed during the icy winter days. Should I stay with one of each? Dump the PC? Any thoughts, advice upsides or downsides that I should know about?
  13. Agreed and its a good location so I am looking forward to a hotel review at some stage.
  14. I have always prefered Sawadi.com or Expedia. Keep an eye on Expedia in that they run specials and you gan get some great voucher deals.
  15. One of the issues about this place that put me off was that it almost backed onto the old Cherry Bar and and the competing music volume coming from that complex was horrendous.
  16. Its in a great position and close to everything but is always more expensive than I want to pay.
  17. Can I suggest that you take the following steps: 1. Research the Internet for companies that are working within your areas of expertise for vacancies. 2. Check the major recruitment consultancies for vacancies and remember that this should be a free service to the candidate. 3. Always try first for international (Western) companies as they have the expertise with immigration procedures and understand the needs of expats. 4. It is now possible to interview on Skype etc but if possible obtain a number of contacts, set up meetings and visit them whilst in the country. 5. Create a quality CV.Have available at all times including scans of degrees, diplomas etc. Keep available on the Internet, as a hard copy and on a memory stick. 6. Try to locate a recruitment consultant who works in the area that you are interested in. If they perceive that you have value they will look for roles for you. Always let someone else do the work espescially if they have more contacts and expertise that you have. 7. No international company will advertise a vacancy without them having done the homework regarding the relevant legislation regarding the obtaining of visas, competetive salary structures, expat packages and a whole raft of other items. Many larger organisationss have their own in-house recruitment people but they often sub contract to international recruiters. 8. Finally, except in certain key industries do not expect to get rich quick ( a lot of people get dismayed because they are basing their expectations on the key skills areas that they have read and heard about). Like every other employer they are trying to get a job done at the best price and many of the positions are time based and they will get rid of you the minute that your part of the contract ends. For many people having an expat position can look good on the CV but is just as often a change of environment and pace and an opportunity to enjoy the country.
  18. Like I said as you know everything about everything there is nothing to add.
  19. Talking out your arse as usual. I have been an international recruitment consultant and realise that there is always a way around the acts of individual countries. As I said, neither you or I have any idea what the mans quals are however I would remind you that Asia is full of expat people who have specific skills that are wanted, accepted and indeed needed in developing countries. Just because there are laws to stop people from working in specific markets there are also a great need for some skills. I dont need to read the acts pertaining to immigration to get a role. That is the job of the employer! Why the fuck would I want to read it? I think you only respond because your bored rather than having something appropiate to say. Incidentally the free accommodation and food issue is a trade off in some markets for lower salary package, but then again you probably knew that as you seem to know everything about everything and enjoy putting anyone else down who dares have an opinion. Dream on and keep wasting your time trying to introduce new threads into existing ones because you lack the ability to start them.
  20. I didnt realise that the OP had stated his qualifacations but perhaps you know more that the rest of us.
  21. Haave run into someone in the hospitality industry. This at least usually provides you with accommodation and food as well as using any language skills that you might have.
  22. I recall that the rate to Bangkok was 2000 bht and think that 3000 would do. Suggest that you email Mr T and ask. There are dozens of mini vans going each day to the Bridge over the River Kwai trips. Any travel agent will update you on these.
  23. I have a feeling that they chage/charged a joiner fee. Needs checking.
  24. Following the bulk of the 130 posts I would have to say that this topic wins the prize for the "Most Innapropriate Title".
  25. OK you like to sleep alone but in fairness you can do what you want to do next day even if they sleep with you till you get up. I have never had a problem saying to a girl that it was time to go whatever tim of day and having one stay over has never made it difficult to do what I want the next day. I dont on the other hand like getting up, getting dressed and trotting down to the receptoion at 2.30.
