Pattaya October Storm Watch - Gaemi coming
teelack replied to MM's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I was caught in last Septembers storm. I was in second road and of course the baht buses would not stop.Bugger me but then i stepped off the pavement and my foot got trapped in a hole that was well under water. I went for a fall and ended up ripping the knee of my good trousers.I got some of that crap in my mouth and up my nose and my knee was bleeding, but survived. The one thing that upset me most was that I was carrying my barfine from the X Zone at the time and she was less than entranced! -
I quite like the ambiance at the Insomnia and whilst I am a golden oldie there is still the odd bit of action. I was wondering about a membership but could not find details of the current price and what the concessions for membership were. Can anyone update me and let me know if they see it as value for money.

Thanks mate. Good information.

HOW DID I LIVE ALL THESE YEARS WITHOUT KNOWING THIS? THE KINGDOM OF THAILAND ( I'll bet you never knew this!! In the original native culture of Thailand , when males reached the age of 18 they had to participate in the following community ceremony:- They lay themselves stark naked in a large circle, feet facing inward. A beautiful young naked girl kneels over the ankles of each the men. She places a blob of honey and various crushed sweet fruits around his navel to attract flies and insects. (This keeps them off his face during the ceremony) A specially chosen nubile and very beautiful naked girl then does a sexy and sensuous dance in the centre of the circle. As soon as all the men become fully aroused, the kneeling girls then reach over the knees, pull the fully erected penises downwards as much as they can and then on a given signal from the centre dancer release them. The men's penises would then spring back up and go "WHAP!" against their belly buttons. This exercise was a measurement of the strength of their masculinity . . .the man who killed the most flies was elected to the court of the King. And that folk's is why the current capital of Thailand came to be named Bangkok .

Just wondering about the following. I have pre paid an international fare ex Bangkok which of course includes the 700 baht airport tax. If I cancel this flight for whatever reason will I have to try getting a refund from the carrier (very little hope) or will the 700 baht have been paid to the airport authority on booking and therefore they will/might refund?

I have in times past got a cheapie flight from Bangkok to Phom Pehn on Air Asia and then transferred onto the local airline direct to Siem Reap. Bus back from SR to PP and then back to Bangkok. This gives a good mix of travel types and you see some of the country as well. As a side issue I have never been to Cambodia and not spent some time in PP. I do like SR but it aint PP and there is a lot to do there as well, historically as well as sexually! If you really want to travel overland go to any travel agent in Pattaya and they will do the whole round trip for you including Angkor and accommodation. Its about 12000 baht for say a 3 or 4 day package.

Flights to Start Between U Tapao and Siem Reap
teelack replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Airline Discussion
In a way this only adds to the strength of Pattaya as a holiday destination. I wish that when I was travelling to SR that there had been a lower cost option like this. -
I would like to make this one and look forward to being there.

I always seem to notice a lot of what I take to be expats in the place.

I rarely drink coffee in Pattaya but I make an exception with the Buakow market. On the tented side half way up on the rightside there is an indoor /outdoor place with great Danishes etc. I think that the coffee is 35 baht and similar for the pastries. Now that is what I call a good buy. In addition to this I can read the local news as papers are available and of course the people watching is great as well.
-
The best way costs many times more than some of the other ways. It all depends on your budget, the time you want to spend in SR etc. More info will get you a more accurate answer.

Sorry Tom. A sophisticated response but still "a long way from acuracy".

I think that you have a jinx! Thats a pisser! Where have you booked to stay? As a matter of interest I think that there will be some good Halloween action on the 31st.

Big D Big D. Where did you go so wrong. Skytops sponsorship was OK but when I found out that we were both shareholders in Starbucks, I was sad.My shares will be on te market in a week or so because your taste is questionable if you think a 100 baht in Pattaya is a good deal for mediocre coffee! t

I dont klnow the exact answert but I will give it a try. Reasonable location. Reasonable prices. Good guest policy. Breakfast included. Monthly rate available. Pushed mercilessly by Addict members! We will all put up with a bit of crap all things being equal.Having said that I would also assume that a lot of people didnt go back for a second visit but there is no way of knowing. I did a room inspection a couple of years ago but it had nothing better than I could get elsewhere and stories about the thin walls have been with us for years.

Whilst it wasnt me it might have been the same person that gave Grahamxxx a red one for daring to criticise the place? only stayed there once...the walls are paper thin and could hear the tv's from next door..won't stay there again This is typical of all topics concerning this place. Someone thinks that this post is worth a red minus point yet over the years many guests have complained about the same things. I will give him a tick beecause I believe that an honest answer should not be penalised. 0

Excellent read. Fiction is stranger than the truth!

As far as I am concerned I will keep putting the family jewels in my in room safe along with the lap top. I have however considered that if I were to travel to Laos and possibly Cambodia again I would buy a small strong box to have put in the hotel safe. Most of the rooms I had in Laos had no in room safe and it feels a bit silly wrapping your cash, passport and whatever in a plastic bag for safe keeping. I have seen small boxes just suitable for this sort of thing including some with a combination lock. Just a thought and perhaps also suitable as a second line of defence in Pattaya where you have a lock box rather than an in room safe.

Last time I went there with a Thai girl I had some reasonable Thai food and she had the fish and chips! Go figure. We both finished our meals but this was first for me.
