  1. Sorry I cannot give you the name but there is a well known place there which is a floating hotel on the river. I stayed there is a really good hotel about 10 minutes from the main street but cannot recall the name. I went on a package deal through a Pattaya travel agent and perhaps you might like to call in to any of the hundreds there and ask.
  2. Some while ago I was doing time as a DJ compiling a weekly classical slot and was asked to do something more middle of the road as well. Giving the matter some thought I did a series called 'Take Five' and started and finished with some classic Brubeck. His off the wall sounds were endlessly fascinating and a short while ago I found that the programmes has been resurected so I still get to listen to Brubeck on radio on a regular basis.
  3. One lesson that I have learned is not to use the twin sim facility in my phone. Initially I thought this a great idea and then I came to realise that I would lose both my Pattaya phone and my home phone. To be honest I never lock my phone up in my room and use the alarm function quite a lot. I leave my home phone on in the safe just in case there is an emergency call and I check it daily.
  4. In the end I wrote back to where I prefer to stay and got 100 baht a night reduction and this was for an actual room number that I have stayed in some times previously. At least thats something.
  5. Maybe text or email Mr T for a quote
  6. Good one Glyn however I suspect that these sort of cons exist everywhere.
  7. Dont know the legality but as for price for smaller quantities I believe these to be about right. Kamagra gel.1 @ 80 baht and 50 @ 1500 baht/1800 baht. Kamagra pills. Pack of 4-250 baht and 5 packs for 1000 baht. Needless to say the better you negotiate the better the price. Available almost anywhere that tourists are likely to be.
  8. Your comment re Emirates. I have never flown with them but I get the feeling that the hype leads people to expect more than they actually get when they fly with them. This is not the case with Singapore as I have never heard a bad word against them.
  9. I had read somewhere that it was 500 baht a day fine but does it affect your next request for a visa? You are afterall on record as an overstayer.
  10. Good imformation. I was looking at their web site about this a while ago and they seem to have a differet rule for the different ticket classes. Because I managed a rock bottom fare I get no airpoints and the booking change cost is very high.
  11. Generally speaking Air New Zealand gets great reviews. I was however pissed off earlier this year. I was on a midnight flight and for possibly the first time ever no drinks were served prior to the meal. For me this is a great stress reliever just after take off and was expected. Seems to me that they wanted to get the meal over so that the crew could get some shuteye. On that same trip I flew Swiss and Thai and no issues with this on either of them.
  12. Some of the girls that lost out in the looks department made it up in the interactive one and thats a good compromise for me.
  13. I realise that the OP asked about Walking Street but on reflection I think that there is one issue here that hasnt been addressed. I personally dont like Walking Street for some of the issues mentioned such as the street theatre and the gawkers and camera addicts. What I do like is the bars and clubs that run off Walking Street. These are a different kettle of fish to those in the street. IMHO some of the best fun and best looking women can be had off WS. I just wonder at times how many people actually just stick to the go go's in WS and miss out on some of the best fun that Pattaya has to offer.
  14. Hi there Ricky. I dont think that I really got around to thanking you for the fun, girrls and the odd free drink during my month in Pattaya. I tried hard to stay away from PD but I have to admit that I spent more time (and of course more money!) in here than in any other place in Pattaya. I like to give credit where it is due and as an oldie (but a goodie!) I know that the girls there respect you and for this purely selfish reason I hope that some that I fancied earlier this month are still there in February when I get back. I did some sampling but one of the problems that I had is that there was so many that I fancied. They were interactive, fun and very pleasd to make this old guy very happy and for that I once again thank you. Kinb regards.
  15. Best thing I ever did was install a heat pump. Its almost free because I use so little power with it and have almost levelled out the winter and summer acccounts. Every room also has energy saver lamps and because of all of this have little variation season to season.
  16. Who the fuck needs insurance with that seeing that the Catholics have cancelled St Christophers accreditation?
  17. Well spotted Tom. My info was based on the poster in the Bells office. Nothing was mentioned about a transfer.
  18. The Sabai complex in Soi's 1/2 has 5 pools. There has to be something to suit everyone there.
  19. Before you even ask this question you have answer this one, does yor travel insurance exclude motor cycles in any form from your cover? If it does than re-think every thing.
  20. If you want to bypass the broken trip use Bell buses. They have 2 each way per day at 350 baht and its direct so if it ties with your flights its a bargain. Sorry dont have the times but go to their web site.
  21. Interesting comment. Perhaps I have been lucky in that I have only met expats that are loving it and even after immersion for some while. I really dont think that you have rose tinted glasses, just a healthy attitude to the potential that is out there with a bit of effort.
  22. Then pop a smiley on. The OP raised what was for him an interesting point and took the time to write it up. If there were not people like him, the board would cease to exist A response like I think you guys think too much really does nothing for the topic, isnt humerous, add nothing to the board at all.
  23. Hi there again Butch. One of things that I believe people forget is this. Generally speaking we are only looking for one girl at a time. There is a problem for me trying to see the place as a a whole when all it takes is a great smile and some close encounter in a go go or where-ever. I was in Pattaya just last week and spent 27 nights there and had a total blast but I agree for instance that there are a hell of a lot of young chicks that will never give me the time of day and also a lot of ladies whose pussies must be made of gold for the amount of money that they look for. Back to the point. I do this whole thing on a one by one basis and had as good a time as I ever did 10 years ago. I did spend more but this was by choice as my tastes are changing. Remember also that WS also includes the disco clubs and Marine for instance is a 1000 baht LT mongers paradise. I have also a phone full of numbers because I take the time to give it out. 10 years ago when few of us had mobiles and lap-tops this was not a possibility so some things go and some arrive.
  24. I think that there is no way that you can define any place on Earth by one street. Everything has changed including the balance of visitors, more Russians for instance and because of sheer numbers this changes the dynamics of the place .I would rather judge the place on its totallity. There are still some great places in the WS area and add this to the emergence of Soi LK and there is I think now 7 gogos in the soi 7/8 area. Like yourself I have just returned from Pattaya and loved the place no less than I did 10 years ago.It is different, it is changing but its still as much fun as I can manage. Pattaya is a glass half full or half empty depending on your mood, attitude or state of mind.
