Lanzalad I will be Udon early next week for a couple of days, we are driving down from Nakhon Phanom, I would be interested in meeting if you have the time and getting the lowdown on the box with a view to purchasing one. Will give you a call either Monday or Tuesday if that is okay with yourself ? Regards

Pretty good article Dave. I'm flying with them twice over the next four days, I'll take my chances of not being be-headed on the Tarmac of HIA, if it's me just hope it's after I come out of the business lounge lol. Regards

Hi I have only been using Apple products for the last 4-5 years. We have a I-Mac desktop, a Mac Book Pro laptop, and an I-pad. Never had any Anti-Virus programs installed on any of them, never had any problem with viruses at all. I do have ad-blocker installed on the I-Mac and Mac Book Pro though. I'm certainly no tech guru though and some people recommend that you install an Anti-Virus program on Apple products. Really your own choice as to who you believe. Regards

Is a work permit required ???

Looks like the Junta needs to do a sustained sweep of undesirables from the airport. A year or two ago the authorities clamped down on people having no legitimate business in the airport, it seemed to work quite well, I noticed that I wasn't approached quite so often when transiting the place. Regards

Superb stuff, thanks for posting. Regards

Yes, been a really good tour until now, would maybe have been an epic tour if Froome and Contador had still been in it. First big mountain finish today, can't see anybody beating Nibali for the overall, as long as he has around three minutes in hand before the time trial. Great viewing though. Regards

Emirates ‘Special Fares’ – Specially High
Fireman Sam replied to DrPat's topic in Airline Discussion
Gus, Eithad as well as Emirates both operate 10 across on their 777's, the only one of the big three middle eastern airlines that operate nine across are Qatar. Makes a huge difference IMHO. Regards -
Does this mean there will no longer be a Terminal one and three ? Leaving us with Terminal two, four and five once everything is opened and settled. Does anybody know, not seen anything in the news releases. Regards

Be carefully as well if the clothes are copies of various well known brands or football shirts, I know a few people who have lost their entire packages to UK customs and excise. Either posting them or suitcases full of them at the Airports. Lot of people used to use that stream of income to fund their trips to Thailand, but getting more difficult to do so these days. Regards

Are you BigD lol. Regards

Yes, my Eurosport on Nakhon Phanom cable is back on again with English commentary as well, just watched the finish of the stage, good racing interesting week ahead, can't wait. Much the same as myself Gonzo I will be in the UK for most of the World Cup and the Tour, won't get a chance to see it in person as will be too busy working. Regards

Yes, bit of a bummer with the TV being off, I'm not getting Eurosport now on my Cable in Nakhon Phanom, the only channel I'm getting now is CCTV (Chinese news) in English. Evans had a bad day in the TT yesterday, with Uran putting 1min 34 into him and taking the Pink jersey by 37 seconds. Ulissi was second in the TT with Evans third. Quintana now 3.29 behind Uran on the overall. All to play for after that unexpected result, hopefully will get the TV back before the high mountains begin in earnest. Also looking forward to the Tour this year. Regards

I think they should have named this years Giro the 'Giro - De Aus', the Aussies are having a great tour so far with Orica taking the TTT/Matthews in pink then Evans taking over the pink and yesterday Rodgers managing to hold of the bunch to win alone. Good chance in todays time trial for Evans to extend his lead over Uran, Quintana and Pozzovivo before the race enters the Alps this weekend. looking good for a real battle in the last few days as well. Surely the podium will come from the aforementioned riders ? Regards

Hi aussiechic the shuttle bus is provided free by AOT to run between both airports in Bangkok. This free service has existed since they decided to re-open Don Mueang for low cost carriers around 2 years ago. The bus at Don Mueang leaves from door number 4 on the domestic arrivals level, just turn right when exiting the terminal, one or two doors down. At Swampy they drop you off on the departure level 4. You catch the shuttle bus at Swampy on level two the arrivals level at door number three/meeting point just turn right when exiting the terminal. This is the floor above the taxi departu

If you mean the shuttle bus between the two airports in Bangkok then the last one is 24.00hrs and first is 05.00hrs, photo was taken about a year ago but I don't think there has been any change. I use it around 10-12 times year, great service around 45-50 minutes door to door. They have introduced a slightly upgraded bus recently with a luggage compartment within the bus.

The Giro started in Ireland this year, been three days of rain and cold weather for the riders. Who do you think will take the overall? I would like to see Cadel Evans take the overall but think Nairo Quintana (if he keeps healthy) may prevail in the final week which is very mountainous. Can't see anybody beating Kittel in the sprints, he has the Belfast stage already. Regards

Great photos as usual firth 1974, wouldn't mind a visit there myself but unlikely anytime in the near future. Built a couple of the planes as a youngster with Airfix and Revell model kits, anybody remember them, do you still get the kits ? Thanks for posting. Regards -
Qatar Airways A380 ex London Heathrow
Fireman Sam replied to Brown1950's topic in Airline Discussion
Booked on it for the 14th September, managed to get upstairs, just in the small economy section though seat 28B. I asked if there was any upgrade availability using my miles or Q credits, but unfortunately not. Been on the Emirates A380 in business and economy loads of times, will be interesting to see how they compare. Regards -
Houses v Condos - Renting
Fireman Sam replied to Obsession's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Agree with you 100% about the smoke inhalation and fire exits, my point was just because the structure is made of concrete and steel does not make it safe. It has to be properly compartmented to restrict the travel of smoke and fire. Although I'm not an expert on Thai building standards I have seen enough in condos and even five star hotels to raise my eyebrows. I always try and stay in low resorts when visiting any Thai city, maybe I'm paranoid because of my occupation. Any way getting back on topic I would always go for a house myself. Regards -
Houses v Condos - Renting
Fireman Sam replied to Obsession's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Concrete spalls in a fire which then exposes the steel frame, steel can start to fail around 670 degrees which is an easy attainable heat even in a normal domestic fire . I wouldn't personally live in a condo in Thailand even if all their buildings were up to the standards they think are acceptable. The compartmentation of their buildings and travel distances they allow to reach built in protected stairwells are far below what we accept in the UK. Just my two baths worth, with a little experience of the subject. Regards
