  1. I'm going to take a stab on this here based on my knowledge of the Thai legal system which is far from expert level. The leases have been deemed void because they are a paradox. They give control of the land over to a foreigner which in its own right is illegal. Any thoughts?
  2. Same as if you enter on a passport. You will need to go up to Chaeng Wattana and get it changed to a non o before you can proceed in Jomtien for a marriage or retirement visa
  3. A friend of mine uses a filtration system. He changes them about every 3 months or so and seems happy with the water he gets. I have tried the reverse osmosis machines and don't really care for the taste too much but i see the Thai's filling up there all the time. We use a water delivery service from a company called River Fresh. Water tastes fine. The wife orders the 5 gallon jugs and then pours it into pitchers...her style. Here is their number for anyone interested, they also sell 500 ml bottles by the 12 pack 038 422 818, 086 154 2579
  4. I use a calling card service called Thook Dee. Can buy them at most 7/11. Cheapest denomination i think is 50 baht. I use it for all my international calls that can not be done via voip. I believe it is around 40 satang per minute to the U.S. They have a call back service so when you call them hang up and they call you back so no baht wasted off your sim
  5. Got pulled over on suk on the bike yesterday at Huay Yai intersection. Supposedly i stopped over the white line that did not exist. I showed the cop all my paperwork and then showed him there is no way to see the very faded line with all the cars stopped at the red light. Then i asked him about the taxi and mini van that were over and why he hasn't pulled them over. As he started smiling i took out my phone and started taking pics. He gave me my license back and told me to have a nice day. Btw the fine is 1000 baht.
  6. My Missus took ours to Telewiz at Tukcom, was home in 45 minutes
  7. Amazes me about how super secretive people are about their basically meaningless lives. I am not Jason Bourne or James Bond. If the government wants to waste its time and money listening to me bitch about the wife or what a great shag i just from wtf's her name from wtf bar let them. I would rather know there are ears out there that may prevent a terrorist attack and if i shagged number 69 up the arse to their kowledge then so be it
  8. It was a weird game for sure. Seattle's killer defense could not put out enough pressure on Brady. There was also a lot of trash talking that led to the brawl on the last play of the game. The last sequence did not have enough time to run 3 running plays. They also did not have a down to spare to spike the ball and waste a down. A pass play at some point needed to be called although they could not have chose a worse one. Just before half time when Carroll made the decision to go for the td with 6 seconds left i was like "wtf" are you doing? Funny how how when calls work out coaches a
  9. My wife is off registering all of our sims now. Mine in her name but being as her bike, my bike, the house, and dog are registered with her i'm not to worried about my sim. Any problems or irregularities regarding these registrations involving foreigners i will post them
  10. Actually this is true in Bangkok as they are much more strict up there. I remember trying to buy a beer in 7/11 after midnight some years ago and was turned down. So i went across the soi to the still open beer bar and bought 3 to go!
  11. Lets say the government puts the price of electricirty1 baht for a unit, The bar then raises prices about 5 baht per drink. It doesn't take much thought to figure out who is lining their pockets. Big mistake is bar owners that perform this kind of practise thinking they are all geniuses and we're all fucking morons with no other bars to go to
  12. Actually this is nonsense, Since new crackdowns have been enforced, here in Pattaya i have bought beer and various illigeal times from 7/11 and family with no hindrances
  13. The tamper free bottles are a joke. Most Thai's know how to get the little thingy out. The problem is most of us are too busy being entertained by the girls, watching girls try to dance, having a laugh with mates or just seated in the wrong area to actually watch the drink being poured. If bars want to pour a shit house spirit then it should be made known to the customer and charged accordingly. 125 for shit house spirit and 130 for a proper spirit is just taking the piss. Even half the time on a call spirit you may still get the shit house stuff especially if they can tell you have had a
  14. Actually in the U.S, we pour drinks with 1 fluid ounce of alcohol which is equal to 30 ml.. The clever bartenders in the U.S. use their spillage allowances to take care of good customers and usually pour 1.5 ounce shots or closer to 45 ml. What they make get socked in coming up short on a stock check is nothing compared to what they make it in tips for hooking up customers and giving them good drinks.. Thailand...that is a different story altogether
  15. This is why between x mas and new years i avoid all high traffic tourist areas. Had a nice new years at home. Thai bbq, plenty of beer, we went through 3 bottles of tequila and had a nice fireworks show
  16. I have always paid mine at 7/11. It looked for a while like M-Pay would be a solution but they have not been able to get it together and there is just not enough of them around I would have thought there would have been an atm solution as well by now. We can top up our phones and transfer money via atm, deposit money with cdm's, so why can't we pay bills?
  17. I have been told this unit is 44 sqm including the balcony. Yes it is in Baan Suan La La Na. There is a hood in the kitchenette in case you wanted to use a electric skillet or install a 2 burner electric hob
  18. They put that same video on when i renewed mine last month. Most were too busy playing on their smart phones, 2 guys were snoring. we did peripheral vision and color tests. No brake reaction time or depth of field tests. The place was so packed they probably didn't have the time
  19. Hmmm i see your point. Enlighten me so i may correct the ad, what is the actual proper definition of a kitchenette?
  20. Looks really good, now on the list! Thanks for sharing Evil
  21. Yes there are, i just couldn't be bothered to walk the long way around. Wound up taking motorbike taxis the short distance. My apartment there was decent enough, i just had a few issues with management like trying to get me to pay for a year and a half worth of cable bills from prior tenants and the threats that came with it. The elevators with 80 year old men and 13 year old boys was kind of turn off as well
  22. Hilton does a nice buffet. Oishi in the Avenue is very good
  23. My favorite place to take the family for an afternoon get away lunch. As MM said the food is very good, fresh, and remarkably cheap. Usually sit across from Ben Seafood but i don't think you will go wrong with any of them. Sometimes i go for an early ride and have breakfast down there. 80 baht for a huge Thai pork omelet sitting across from from an uncrowded beach that is much nicer than Pattaya or Jomtien is a nice way to start the morning.
