Question for Expats / Retirees
TheFiend replied to Butch's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I'm not an expat yet, and I'm not yet retired..... but I have decided on a date for taking early retirement and the closer I am getting to that date the more I am looking forward to it. There is also a chance that date might get brought forward, depending on whether the government forces budget cuts on my employers in view of what has happened over the last 6 months with the virus crisis. Contractors working on the site have already seen numbers cut and there are strong rumours of a sweet deal being offered to allow people to retire early in order to reduce staff numbers rather than making people redundant. Due to my shift pattern it already feels like I am semi-retired anyway..... I work 12 hour shifts on a 4 on 6 off cycle. I'm looking forward to retirement and looking forward to getting away from a cold and wet winter Britain!!! -

7-11 using the same idea as McD's and their flatpack restaurants -
I believe Qatar will be keeping theirs mothballed but there are plans to bring them back,

Looks like Emirates are starting to bring the A380's back into service... A lot of Boeing fanboys were hoping the A380 was killed off by Coronavirus...... Emirates obviously are proving them wrong. Coronavirus has killed off BA and Virgins 747's

Skygod (RIP) would have loved it!!!

I was issued vouchers with the 10% extra when they cancelled my flights but wanted a refund. If Qatar have cancelled your flights there should be no charges for a refund.... Their T & C's state that if they cancel, not you, then you are entitled to a full refund without charges. I got a full refund on a non-refundable ticket.

In January I booked flights for May this year with Qatar and received notification during Easter weekend that my flights were cancelled. I successfully got a refund for the flights, despite them being non-refundable. If you booked online it needs to be done by going through a thing called Zendesk.

Looks like they are working on burying a cable.... probably an afterthought!!!

Was once stopping down in Twickenham and decided to go for a wander alongside the Thames heading eastward.... Didn't fancy walking all the way back from the centre of London, so I caught the tube from Victoria to Kew Garden and walked back from there...

The latest news: About International flights resumption
TheFiend replied to syed's topic in Airline Discussion
https://www.tatnews.org/category/thailand-tourism-updates/ Probably the best website to keep an eye on for travel information for Thailand.... Situation updates posted every day and includes updates on airports and travel restrictions. -
How about this for a comprehensive list of those exempt from Quarantine.... https://immigrationbarrister.co.uk/who-is-exempt-from-the-14-day-coronavirus-quarantine-period/ I come under 2 of those categories....
-
The bigger question is how long will it be before Thailand permits travellers from the UK to enter? And to enter without quarantine!!! Was watching a TV show this morning and it seems a lot of people are willing to accept quarantine on return as long as they get their 2 weeks holiday in Benidorm!!!!

Thailand extends ban on international flights until June end

No quarantine for me!!! I've just been through that list and I'm in 2 of those categories..... -

Got a little bit of a surprise..... when I book flights I always link through to airline pages through topcashback.co.uk..... After my flights got cancelled was expecting the transaction to go down as a rejected cashback claim..... Interestingly it changed from pending to confirmed, and then shockingly had become payable when I checked today...... that £31.36 cashback is now heading towards my bank account...

9 days after submitting my refund request and I have had a full refund paid back into my account....
-
3 days after submitting my refund request online and I've had a result..... my refund has been authorised and should be credited back to my credit card account shortly.... Looks like quoting their own T & C's has helped.... along with threatening a charge-back....
-
5 days ago contacted QR support via twitter (@qrsupprt) to ask how my refund request was progressing..... yesterday was informed there was no refund request in the system and vouchers had been issued against my booking... My reply to them was I was entitled to a full refund under their own T & C's and failure to refund me quickly would result in me contacting my credit card company to initiate a charge-back..... @qrsupport replied I was entitled to a full refund but needed to submit a refund request online, which I submitted yesterday. Reply received this morning saying my request was in progress and would be dealt with ASAP.

Within 4 days of requesting a refund off Bangkok Airways the refund is showing in my account...... Impressed.... No sign of a refund off Qatar yet!!!

On Friday received an email from Bangkok Airways informing me that our flight from BKK to CNX on May 28th was now cancelled.... Sent an email to them at the address shown on the email requesting a refund..... result was just an automated reply acknowledging my email.... Did a little research and found a hidden web-page for doing refunds via an online form, but it also had an email address for refund inquiries...... fired off an email to that email account and in less that 24 hours I've had a reply saying a full refund has been authourised...... this was for a non-refundable ticket. Impressed how quickly they responded.. Now just waiting to see if Thai Airways cancel my CNX to BKK flight in June.... another non-refundable ticket for which I'll request a refund. Haven't been impressed with Thai Airways during this crisis so far...... they notified me of a flight change and that the booking been swapped over to Thai Smile. What they didn't mention is that they're expecting me to pay more for it, that only show on "Manage my booking"

Looks like the ban on passenger flights will be extended for a longer period.... Couple of days ago was notified by Bangkok Airways that a domestic flight from BKK to CNX on May 28th is now cancelled...
