My local telephone exchange is actually on the same street as where I live in the UK but fibre is still not available for me, but still get decent speeds on the old style broadband..... Was with TalkTalk but after they put up my monthly charge to £40 I decided to look elsewhere and sorted a deal for £18 per month on a 12 month contract...

I watched that game too, yes it was dramatic but I wouldn't describe it as the best game of rugby I've seen. The Black Ferns deserved that victory!!! Really looking forward to watching all 3 Rugby League World cup Finals this weekend. England V France in the wheelchair final is going to be a cracker!!! Can Samoa pull off a shock in the Mens? At Manchester in June there was massive queues for security but when I flew out 2 weeks ago there was very little queuing. Still took nearly an hour to clear security as one of my bags got flagged for a closer inspection but thanks to a group of 21 Pakistanis who all had not taken liquids out of their hand baggage it took forever forever for my bag to be checked. Why was mine pulled? A couple of camera lenses!!! I'm starting to hate going through security at Manchester because they are so pedantic. Never have a problem at subsequent checks on my trip. "Parking like a dickhead" is not just a Thai thing.... I see examples of it every day in the UK.

The problem with airports like Skiathos is they are limited on the length of runways due to their location. Any further extension would involve encroaching into the sea. Also since it was built narrow body aircraft have also got bigger and heavier as has demand for holidays to places like Skiathos.

The pilot of that plane obviously had an engineering background!!!

You'd be surprised how much tape gets used by engineers to make temporary repairs to stuff...

When I landed at Swampy on this trip wandered down to the basement level to see if the FX booths down there were open Good news - they are open. Upstairs at arrivals was 39.95 to 1GBP, down there it was at 42.95!!!

The extra cost will depend on where you're flying.. I've also started using banked air-miles to reduce total cost. Don't travel often enough to collect enough for reward flights but since Qatar brought in using miles to help pay for flights I've spent them that way..I used my miles last time, for our upcoming flights I've used Mrs Fiends.

Cheap? No, just different priorities for my spending money. If I was cheap I'd be paying the lowest fare possible to fly, but I don't. Since Qatar changed from 30Kg and free seat selection on economy, to a tiered economy fares structure with varying amounts of checked luggage, seat selection not-included/included and differing mileage accrual I'm paying the extra to get 30Kg checked baggage and seat selection.

I've flown economy and business class and to me business class isn't worth paying the extra for what you get.

While other airlines switched their 777's 3-4-3 to squeeze more passengers in Thai kept the 3-3-3 layout and it's nice to see the 3 new ones supplied in that configuration. I've flown on Thai 772, 773 and 77W's BKK-CNX-BKK

I believe they have retained the 3-3-3 economy layout for the 3 new 777-300ER's.

Plenty of available ladies on thaifriendly without having to stump up 1000 baht barfines....
