  1. Baht buses don't have signs on them showing where they are going as far as i know. If you click this link and look you will see your on the junction second road/pattaya tai and your facing the road leading towards jomtien. http://www.pattayaphotoguide.com/?BPuRUYxokcDE If you look down the road facing you, about 100metres down on the left you will see parked baht buses, don't touch them as has been said, they wait till their full to move. If you click on the blue dots on the top picture you will move along the road towards jomtien and the picture will change (the bottom picture is a road map of the area and you can watch the little man on the bottom map move along the road to give you some idea of where your going) Once you get to this point http://www.pattayaphotoguide.com/?J8sRUCmnkc4C you will see two sets of blue bubbles, click the one going left and follow that along after going under the bridge http://www.pattayaphotoguide.com/?WssRUEvnkcvC and straight across you can now see the Residence garden hotel, keep following the blue dots and you will very shortly come to the hotel which is here http://www.pattayaphotoguide.com/?5PsRUeqnkctC I have never stayed (yet) at this hotel, never been out this side of pattaya or been to Jomtien, so all i know is what i have seen on Pattayaphotoguide, plus i am told the pictures of the road outside the hotel is an old one and the road works have long finished etc. Enjoy yourself and let us see some pics if you can because on December 16th i am there Edit and added, This will show you a baht bus and some information http://www.pattayagirls4u.com/2009/11/21/baht-bus-pattaya/
  2. Have a great trip and enjoy. If you want to book the dynasty inn without credit card then scandibar.com will do it for you and give you a free beer per day. http://www.scandibar.com/hotel/dyn-pty/ I used scandibar for my booking in the sandy spring hotel soi 13 for the last two Xmas's and it works fine. This Xmas i too have booked the Residence Garden as the price is superb at the FLB rate of 1450baht and 1800 baht for the main Xmas peak times. With the daily money i save from the rate i paid previously to the Sandy Spring then all my extra baht bus cost are well covered and more, plus it will give me an incentive to do Jomtien for the first time. PS, as your a registered member, don't forget you can join the full board by reading this http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/topic/5880-read-this-before-posting-on-this-forum/ At the moment your only seeing a small part of the board
  3. Nope, never tried them, probably should have though i did look at them one year. This xmas trip will be my 4th time on Thai(business class) and every time since the first flight i have sworn never to fly thai again Once on Etihad in Business and they were brilliant. Once on Cathay Pacific in business when Suvarnabhumi was closed and i diverted to the Philippines, they were good but the food was crap. Once on Emirates in First class, had 3 legs of the journey in the "Suites" on board, bloody superb, 2 legs on the A380 with suites and Showers on board for first class passengers and 23 inch TV monitors, lovely. The only problem with them was, although they served caviar etc, because it was so hot on board i asked for ice cream and she said we don't carry ice cream on board, WTF, the Cathay Pacific had bloody great chilled cabinets between business and economy class, filled with Haagen Daaz ice cream and chocolates for anyone to go and help themselves.
  4. I fly out on the 15th December and back on the 2nd January. Thai airways are crap on the 747 but the timings are good for me, i fly out on the Thursday, finish work at 3pm and drive to Heathrow for the 21.35 flight. Coming back, the flight leaves at 1.30pm and lands at 7.35PM, which is great, can get pissed on the plane, spend a night in the hotel and drive to work on the Tuesday morning. Now, i started looking for this flight at the end of January, by mid February, the price had jumped once and then it was showing no availability on the 1.35pm return flight in Business class on the 2nd Jan, bloody hell, i started panicking. I rang the booking agent on the 16th Feb to ask if i was likely to get the return flight time on Thai in business and she said "probably not" only availability left was First or Economy (bloody hell and this is still February), so i grabbed First class on the return leg and booked on that day. Crazy, in recent years i have waited until May or Jun to book, seems you have to book earlier and earlier to get the decent flight times.
  5. Thoroughly agree where it should be posted and this is the place, however, i didn't say it shouldn't be posted where it was, i just asked him to tell us where and also advise what he thought should be posted in which places and by whom, after his string of Do you think he has a problem with the Brits
  6. Phew, are you glad you got that off your chest So,where would you prefer it to be posted ???, and what should be posted in this "Member's bar" area ?? PS, can we have "Bloviate" as word of the month ??, maybe someone should start a thread where people slip in the word "bloviate" into every sentence I had to look it up but still not sure about the word.
  7. Never stayed there, i had stayed the last two Xmas's at the Sandy spring in a seaview suite, always got a fair signal on the balcony from the haven. Did look at the haven this year after the Sandy prices rises but decided to go with the residence garden.
  8. I have always booked the sandy spring through this place http://www.scandibar.com/hotel/sandy/ No credit card up front needed and a free beer a day.
  9. Looks good, cheers for posting Python. I stayed at the Sabai lodge in 2006 in a Dolphin pool cottage and loved it. Although friend i met there at that time have stayed there every year since will this year move to the Sabai Resort for some reason.

  17. No idea, it doesn't say on their website that i can see http://www.thaiairways.co.uk/pages/flying_with_thai/luggage.htm Depends on how much extra you have, there are plenty of sites that move extra baggage from what google shows me http://www.excess-baggage.com/articles/baggage_shipping_to_thailand.php?gclid=CKb18fizjasCFUQMfAodMGOSwQ
  18. Just seen this, seen him at Cherry bar a few times and felt sorry for him RIP Bird
  19. I have never visited Jomtien and plan to spend a few days down there on my next trip (Xmas). I have booked the Residence Garden which seems to be on the route out that way so it would be a pity not to visit.

  24. worrying, they may skimp on maintenance i guess, strike them off any list for sure
  25. Flight wise, kayak and travelsupermarket are both good. I use westeasttravel.co.uk but check first with the two sites above. The hotels section of this forum have some great advice or post in the newbies section laying out what price etc and what things you want in a hotel and people give good advice.
