Award Tickets: 1st Class Depart/economy Return - Or Visa Versa?
glynbuk replied to SmellyFarang's topic in Airline Discussion
Nor me, but when i booked i was going to do business both ways but the return flight i wanted was fully booked at that price, so the travel agent gave me a price for return in first at the flight time i wanted, which was not bad so i said, ok go for it. If i had done both legs in first then they wanted £900 more than what i paid, which is crazy money, and the saving more than pays for my hotel for the 17 days i am there. -
very good, thanks for that

Award Tickets: 1st Class Depart/economy Return - Or Visa Versa?
glynbuk replied to SmellyFarang's topic in Airline Discussion
This Xmas i am flying out business class and back by first class, I prefer the return journey in better class as going out i am so excited the journey flies by, but returning its bloody hard work to sleep and on Thai the lay flat seats are hard work coming back so the flat bed in first is better for me. -
cheers for that, will keep an eye on the news for more info

Hotel questions (a bit lengthy)
glynbuk replied to 808pizza's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Hi First time i came to Pattaya i stayed at the Sabai lodge (soi 2) in a Dolphin pool cottage, nice room with in room safe, good pool and good water pressure in the shower. Next trip i stayed in the LK Metropole in Soi Bukhoaw, nice hotel, small pool, in room safe and very poor water pressure in my room. Last two trips i stayed in the Sandy Spring (soi 13) and loved it, booked it through scandibar who will book you in without giving a credit card guarantee http://www.scandibar.com/hotel/ Be aware in the Sandy only the suites have in room safes which is not great, water -

If you use "Google Chrome" as your browser, the browser will offer to translate pages for you into English etc, its not bad although some bits don't translate that well. I was looking at Spanish newspapers yesterday to see who the English footballer was who had the "super injunction" and was going after "twitter". all the Spanish papers were converted to English quite well. Found out who the player was, seems he plays for Wales and Manchester united and is never clean shaven Must not name him, just in case PS, it also includes a spell checker which is not bad

what website has the cheapest tickets?
glynbuk replied to commoncute1979's topic in Airline Discussion
When Suvarnabhumi airport was shut for the yellow shirt protest some years back, i was due to fly in on Thai in first class(for xmas), i was worried about the airport being shut and westeast were very good in changing my booking to Cathay Pacific flying via hong kong to Manila. I had to change to Business class on Cathay and with the change fee of £150 they still owed me the difference of about £125, it took me a couple of months but they did pay it to me. -

One thing i have become more aware of is the cancellation fees charged if you cannot fly or need to change dates/times. Most websites like expedia/ebookers etc who can give slightly lower prices have this rule This may not be a major problem if your paying 500 pounds for an economy flight but if your paying a couple of thousand or more for a business class seat then it can be. I use http://www.westeasttravel.com/ (in the UK) and for my trip again this Xmas the terms for westeast booking a Thai air business/first class flight is A couple of years ago i flew with Emir -
Thanks for posting that, great info

I have only done the sandy spring at christmas for the last two years, i had a seaview suite which is great for the location, size and view but the room can best be described as "sparse" but has an in room safe which only suites seem to get. For the peak Xmas season i paid 3300baht per night which has now gone up to 3600 for this year so i have decided to try the Residence garden which i have booked at a peak season rate of 1800 baht, so that is saving me 1800 baht per night which will pay for the extra transport costs to and from the hotel. I have always booked it through these peop

Sandy spring on Soi 13 is guest friendly as are all the other Spring hotels in the group. No problem taking 1 lady back but can be charged for 2 or more ladies. You should have posted this in the Hotels section and i would guess it will be moved. There is a post in the hotels section about the membership scheme too
