Giving loads of s/hand clothes to room cleaner

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I've got a load of clothes, mine and kids, all good quality (M and S etc) and many are new but unsued, seems a waste to leave them in UK, going over in a few days and got an empty suitcase, so could take'em over. But don't know what to do when I get over there, shall I just off off load them on to the cleaner or someone? Reception staff might think it a bit odd if I hand them over swathes of gear they did not expect. I know the staff at my hotel very well, by the way. Or is there some charity that would use them? Of rooure, I'm not bringing over winter gear, all stuff you could wear in LOS.

Given the salary they work for the hotel maids and staff will most likely be more than happy to take this stuff off your hands. In the US we have Goodwill Thrift Stores and Salvation Army that accepts donations of this sort. If you have similar charities near you it would save toting a suitcase half way around the world.

Don't you just have to take a look behind your door. I thought these scrounging charity shops posted leaflets and bags for your old clothes every other day.

  • 4 weeks later...

When I visit Pattaya I always pack my worn out clothes, or at least the ones I no longer like. Then I leave them in the trash can as I wear them one more time. Often enough I purchase four or five new shirts down at the Tuesday Friday market and bring home only the new clothes.

I left lots of ripped/spunkstained/pussyjuiced pantyhose and stockings in my loom, don't know if the cleaner used them though :P

and that was just at your house before you left for patts

I be damned if I'd carry some shite I was gonna give away halfway around the World, but it if you've got that idea the best would be to give them to someone who could use them.

correction, UK is only a little more than 1/4 of the way around the World, while Canada is 1/2 way.

Why don't you just give them in to be launder at any Pattaya laundry...the chances are they won't come back.

I can only think of 2 occasions,CIM and rear entry,but I digress.

I think they would be happy to accept the items, especially since they already know you.

The Pattaya Orphanage is a excellet idea.

In fact, I did just that, gave a load of stuff to the cleaners, they all know me well, and I know which ones have husbands/children that the clothes will suit. No rubbish or tatty stuff mind. It was no problem, as I have nothing much else in my suitcase when I come over apart from the clothes. Next time I will take kids stuff for the orphanage, I hadn't thought of that, it seems a worthwhile thing to do. Although clothes seem cheap to us in Thailand, if you've got no money they are not so.

200m on a trolley to check in at departure

200m on a trolley to the taxi on arrival

20 Baht to the bellboy at hotel

Hardly a lot of effort is it??

Take 'em with you mate and give them to whomever you want but the orphanage is a good idea..

So that he can give them to the have-nots. Not the haves.

You mean to tell me that there are no have-nots in the industrialized world? Tell that to the homeless.

Yes, have to agree with sabaidii2 that this was not your finest moment.
