Mr Dream Transport

Recommended Posts

So after my two long flights i arrive in Bangkok on time but tired.I go though to the taxi meeting area, look at all the names held up by the taxi company's but alas no mr dream with my name

Wait by the information desk next to the taxi meeting area. After a period of time i check all the names again, and underneath one sign under the name it said mr dream,i said is that me,i quick call to mr dream and it was,my first name was right steve but my surname was'nt even close,I'd passed this person a dozen times. :D

So i was taken by my driver to the car,and whot can only be discribed as a white knuckle ride to pattaya, then my driver ask's if i want to stop for a break,i said i'm ok but up top you.

So he stops for a fag and a coffee while i wait in the car for him,as soon as we hit the road again i'ts foot to the floor again tail gateing cars any cars in his way he just sounds he horn till they move.

When we get to the hotel he give's me his card completely different firm to mr dream, for return trip......not.

So mr dream no thank you next time i will try someone new.

I would have called Mr Dream and let him know his driver is driving in a manner I would consider unsafe and would he talk to the guy and tell him to slow down. BTW did you tip the driver when you arrived in Pattaya?

I won't recommend Mr. Dream either as I reserved with him and no-one showed up (although this may have been better as my ride was good). I emailed him and he said they would not let him park without paying or something and he was waiting for me in the garage. Well how the F*** should I know that.

The taxi I found was a young guy that goes by the name "Mr. Boy" taxi. Had him take me back to the airport also and will probably use him when I go back in December...

Its not the customers responsibility to do the company's quality control.

Stupid idea...........and get the guy to drive one handed, while his boss gives him an ear bashing on the phone. That will relax the guy. Not

Agreed. The guy is driving too fast, and you're expected to hand him the phone to talk to someone he's probably never spoken to and certainly doesn't work for.

some of them will drive even worse after you scold them, so you've got to be extra careful how you word it

I walked part of the way back to my condo in BKK once when I was returning from Phuket. The driver was a total nut bar & would not take heed of anything I told him.

I should have known better than to even get into his cab when he was trying to charge me a flat rate that was about double what it would cost to use the meter. He was going so damn fast he overshot the entrance to where I told him to go, so I fucked off out of his cab after he pretended not to understand.

I'm not trying to have the guy relax, I want him to slow down and drive like a professional driver. You act as if he's never talked on a phone and driven at the same time.

Most likely the driver is a independent contractor and if he wants more work from Mr Dream he better listen to what he has to say.

The OP said he was tailgating other cars and had his foot to the floor. imho, its not a good idea to then get him to drive one handed  But please, feel free to do so if your bus driver is driving like a lunatic and making it difficult for you to lick the windows

Sorry for the TF.

What's wrong with you? Why the unnecessary personal attack?

Based on Mr. DT's posts here, he's already told the driver anything of consequence and it didn't seem to help.

Not most likely, 100% certainty.

These "Mr Dreams, Pattayas, T's, Tooms, etc", they don't own vehicles and they don't have employees. They are booking agents. Their office is where they happen to be sitting when the cell phone rings.

They have a list of phone numbers of Thais that have access to vehicles and are willing to give up a percentage of the fee for getting the job.

They may have never met the driver nor seen the vehicle he drives. Depends on whether they have help collecting their fees.

From the moment you book your ride you are in the hands of the driver whether he be good or bad.

I never use these guys and prefer an actual registered company. I may pay a little more but I think it's worth it and all the taxi companies I have used have never let me down in over 6 years of trips.

Lbj, I am so heartily tired of the taxi question

I'm paying over the top for Secrets to pick me up this

week.who do you use?

Don't feel bad, bill. Am doing exactly the same thing for my Jan. trip. If that is what it takes to get a reliable driver that knows where he is going, so be it. After giving up several days of work, $800 for airfare why bitch about a little more baht to get a comfortable ride to your hotel? As well as not being stranded at the airport.

I use this guy Khun Kob 0895320899

The guy is a total gent. If he does not do the run himself he has seven guys working for him, all personally vetoed. I would say I have used upward of twenty times and always had a great experience. If you do decide to use him, then just say Dave from Scotland recommended him to you.

He has a Honda CRV, will supply you with water, drives very safely and is an all round good egg. The other cars he uses are also pretty good. If you want driven round pattaya for the day, he will get one of the local guys here to do it. Mostly when you ask for a price they will say 'up to you', but obviously be reasonable.

Just another option

Cheers
