How do you download youtube videos?

If you do it all day, there's software you can learn. If you want to grab a video now and then then go to Keepvid.com - punch in the YouTube link and sit back. You can choose the format to convert it to on the fly as well.

A Firefox extension called Download Helper will download the video to any folder you designate and save it as an .flv file. VLC is a video player that will play just about any format known to man.

If you've already watched a video on youtube then it's already on your hard drive. You'll find it in the Temporary Internet Files folder. Just copy it from there to a location of your choice and, as mykl says, play it with VLC.

Just added a firefox add-on called "1-click YouTube video downloader" which allows downloads as .flv, .mp4, or 3gp. works great and relatively fast downloading speeds.

If you're using IE click on Tools, then Internet Options. In the Browsing History section click the Settings button then click the View Files button. Sort by file size and get the largest at the top and you should find what you are looking for.

 

This method works for the majority of "Tube" websites, but be aware that the Temporary Internet Files folder has a size limit and old files are deleted to make way for new ones, so if you leave it too long your movie may disappear.

I believe thats the Realplayer program. Which I use as well. Download for free. Most videos can be downloaded using Realplayer but not all. They also include free conversion software to convert video to Ipod....all for free

I have been using Keepvid as I couldnt find the vids on the HD. But today its showing " file not found" with any vid I try to download.

Any idea how to stop that? Thanks

I don't think this works with Windows 7.
