After the upgrade

Invision, the company that develops this board software, has done a conversion of the board contents...messages, posts, userids.

 

Customization (banners, avatars, emoticons, tabbed links, advertizing, look and feel) are left to the board owner to do (that's me).

 

So, as I have time, I will be applying changes to the board to customize it.

 

These changes will come online little by little until the board is functionally similar to what it was before the upgrade.

 

In the meantime, you have many new features that make the board easier to use.

 

How about being able to attach multiple files in one upload? Great for trip reports.

When I log in, I go to the 'IP Board' page where I can see all the threads, but at the top there is not the 'link' to click on the inside or outside webcam.

 

All I have at the top is Forums, Members and Calendar.

 

I logged into the webcam from off the FLB Board.

 

I guess we just need to wait until MM gets the Heading back like it was before the upgrade. Maybe the no advertisment flashes at the top are a good thing, lol.

 

Or is it, that when I logged in for the first time I went to the wrong area.

A couple of things I noticed after the initial shock of opening the link to Pattaya Talk:

 

1. My login was still active and I did not have to re-enter name and password - nice

 

2. There seems to be no link to view posts posted since last visit. I hope this can be added.

 

3. It seems my five person ignore list is erased. Start over? And I just put Joe Kicker on it. Damn. I guess I have to read Cheshire Tom again too.

 

Which makes me ask, is there a temporary un-ignore within threads as before?

 

4. My old PMs are there - very nice.

 

I like the basic look MM and wowowo I just noticed a View New Content button I didn't see at first. That may answer number two.

 

 

edit: I just saw a post started by Cheshire Tom and went to read it and it said he is ignored and would I like to read it any way so that answers number 3.

 

Also, the View New Content button does indeed show posts since last visit.

 

This will take a little getting used to but it is a very nice setup.

 

One really nice thing - emoticons are right along side the chat window once activated rather than a separate window.

okay, I know we old folks dont like change, but I am on a number of boards and they ALL LOOK THE SAME. I liked talk because when I swapped windows I knew which board I was on and it was a nice feeling. I know that to resist is futile, but I will stay nostalgic for the old look I was comfortable with.....

- finding a nice skin for the forum to distinguish it from others (it might not be yellow anymore)

What's funny is I haven't a clue where it was in the old screens, because I never used it myself...didn't even know it was there. I've been using the scroll bars or the HOME key.

It was next to 'REPORT' i.e. bottom left of each posting, anyway, i see it now, cheers.

Two very good problem descriptions. The first is easy to deal with, but the second might be a "feature" of the new software.
