I have just been informed that Benson & Hedges and 555 are no longer on sale in 7/11's in Thailand, anyone know any different? น่เนดนบเดนง.ฤโฮทงอท(ฒฮ?(ณฎจไาสปฏฮซหกือทหืกมฝหสกหสหกปแือ

I had that problem last Xmas in Pattaya, all the 7 - 11's didn't stock them anymore, had to make do with Menthol cigs

If that's the case i will buy them before I get there. Is the duty free on arrival at BKK still selling UK fags?

Coming through Customs there is always a heap of cartons in the clear bin, be careful bringing in too many as the fines are pretty hefty if court, or so I have heard.

The fines are outrageous. A few years ago, a BM brought in 14 cartons of various cigarettes for some expats here (including me). They arrested him outside the building (guns drawn and everything, he said). All but one of the cartons of cigarettes were confiscated, and he was taken to court in downtown BKK where he had to wait for sentencing. As I recall, he ended up paying 2000b for each carton (13*2000b = 26,000b).

His mistake was bringing them into the customs area in clear duty free bags. banghead.gif

i bought some b&h through from bkk and my mate tried them and said they were shit they were bought from king power so best to buy some on the way in

Foreign cigarettes bought duty-free or otherwise legally in Thailand don't generally come from the original country. Mostly, they are from Malaysia (Virginia) and Philippines (US). They are, indeed, for those used to the originals, xrap. That's why the black market does so well.

I wouldnt buy cigs from any street vendors in Thailand. The best way is to buy from duty free in London or in Middle East if you have stopover there. As already stated you can only bring 200 into Thailand. If you do decide to risk it, put in hand luggage but dont be greedy as they look for hand luggage that is stretched full. I personally would just bring the 200 and when run out just smoke Marlboro lights from 7-11

B+H, along with all the other BAT UK brands, haven't been imported into Thailand from the UK since 2009.

Looks like I will have to buy them in Heathrow. Any idea on price? I even remember taking 24 cans of stella in my luggage a few times because I don't like the beer there much.

He is probably buying them from Cambodia. Made the mistake of buying a few cartons from a market in Cambodia once on a visa run. Bloody shocking cigs, were knock off's of Thai cigs, L & M etc.Very cheap, but even the Thai girlfriend wouldn't smoke them.

Same here. Marlboro Lights, fucking terrible, gave them to the Hotel Maid.

They do have originals as well but obviously cost more. Still cheaper than in Thailand.

Last trip I brought 200 Parliament Lights and had a TG who loved to smoke as well, she went through half my stash and we were out in 8 days, rest of my stay had to buy Marlboro Lights from 7/11. Next trip I'll probably pick up a carton from Hong Kong duty free as I usually have a 2 hour layover there.

I was under the belief that all cigarettes now (legally) sold in Thailand are made in Thailand, regardless of the labels. I'm not a smoker, so would like to know if that is true.

Not trying to be facetious but his mistake was smuggling cigarettes at all.

Surely one can make do with the local stuff after the permitted 200 are used up?

Please somebody correct me if I am wrong but I think Thailand only has one tobacco company which is Gov owned and make a few bloody terrible local brands. Everything mainly comes in from the Phillipines and Singapore.

Many people smuggle personal quantities of alcohol and cigarettes, but the ones who do it in clear duty free bags are certainly going to get stopped. Of the others, the probability of success is very high.

I routinely bring in 3 cartons (600) smokes, but stored in my luggage. Many people do.

As to your last comment, as a non-smoker, of course you'd say that.

Sure, they are hardly fastidious at Bangkok..... and I often spot these guys wandering around paying particular attention to what people are carrying.

For your information I am an EX smoker, even worse than a non-smoker, and used to miss my Camel Filters while in LOS.

Perhaps smoking the local crap helped me quit.

After JPS dried up a few trips back I smoke L & M Red now when in LoS ... would smoke marlboro, but about B20 more a pack, and not worth the extra in my opinion, especially the rate I get through them!

Not as good as the Drum tobacco I normally smoke, but can't be assed to roll much at these prices!

I usually bring in a carton or two of L & B bought on the way over, and when they run out resort to Krung Thip...

Do you get them at Heathrow, and if so, how much?
