Just thought that I would share this with you. I decided that I needed to tidy up the hair and looked around for a place that I felt would be "Farang Friendly." I did stumble onto a hairdresser and I am happy to share with you.

There is an arcade at the Queen Pattaya Hotel. This is Opposite Tops Supermarket in Pattaya Klang. There are a couple of shops at the rear of the arcade and this is where they are situated. I felt that the lady hairdresser gave me a good cut for 200 baht. I know that there is cheaper but I was satisfied.

I noticed a curtained off area at the back of the shop and this is the massage area. She asked me if I wanted one. Why not, she's a pleasant lady. She is good at what she does and the door is locked till its all over. It was a straight massage but you never know as I didnt ask for extras.

The place is clean and spacious and she tells me that she is looking for a boyfriend (now there's a challenge!)

There's a shop I go to in BKK between Sukhimvit 5 and 3, near Gullivers, called Fon something, where I get 4 girls to work on me at the same time. Haircut, pedicure, manicure, foot massage...all at once. It's wonderful.

Do you suppose she might do ball shaves? :P If you go back maybe you could ask and post the answer.

Nice!!

The cost of 'personal services' here in SEA makes living like a king affordable. I've only had 3 ladies working on me at the same time in Nha Trang, Vietnam. It was $1 for each lady plus tip. Of course, after 9 pm, sometimes there are other services available in the back room, but I took two of them out to dinner instead :) I'll have to take a 'look/see' at the shop on Pattaya Klang across from Tops. Although I have a regular shop on Soi Buakow (70 baht haircuts), trying new things and changing routines keeps life interesting.

Thanks for the reference.

With haircuts as cheap as 60 Baht, why are you guys paying silly money>

Cheaper is not always better. A 60 baht haircut might look like a 60 baht haircut. Just like a $50 suit might look like a $50 suit. 40 baht flip flops sure look like 40 baht flip flops.

Like everybody cares about your 200 Baht cut, right?

At least I was trying to offer some real advice to boardies. The question of where to get a decent hair cut comes up on a regular basis. When I did discover a place that not only did a good job, was well located and where you could also get a massage I felt that this was newsworthy. To just tell people that they are LDOP's for spending so much for a haircut is just your normal thread knocking presumably because your bored. I try to be positive but if you want too only offer negative comments then I guess its your right but it hardly adds much to the thread.

Good post Teelak - have to agree with you. One learns very quickly that one must have a thick skin to post on the Board...there is always someone who is ready to flame for no reason. Some banter in a joking manner is quite fun but negative posts for the sake of negative posts really does not advance a Board that contains a lot of great information for both newbies and not-so-newbies.

Well located for who? The Barber?

Thread knocking? You do come out with a lot of shite sometimes when somebody has a different take on things to you.

Was it just a regular haircut? What made your 200 Baht cut different to a 60 Baht cut? Are you just a Mug for paying more than 3 times the price for the same thing?

Hardly good advice imho.

Would you like to give us Boardies a list of the other places where we can pay three times the price for goods and services?

It's bad enough having the two tier Thai/Falang pricing in some places without you telling us where we can pay triple :finger

I tend to think you pay 200 baht for a haircut purely because of where it is located, in the centre of Pattaya and catering to falangs/tourists.

Too many bloody puffs cutting hair in town......

I go near where I live, that is what I call well located. Get the shaved neck and ears, nose hair and eyebrows done and the girl gives me a nice shoulder massage afterwards. She has strong hands too. It is airconditioned, I have a TV to watch and it is always fun trying to communicate with her limited English and my screwy Thai. Sixty baht is a bargain.

Sure, knowing where to get a good haircut in town is useful, but good and bad charge 200 there!

If you were not so relentlessly negative about people posts perhaps I would bother with your comments. But (yawn  ) its not worth my time.

60 Pesos for a haircut here in Angeles which is 43 Baht.

Every bit as good a haircut (If not better) as I pay 500 Baht for in London.

I'm pretty sure I could get a Trike to one of the big fancy Shopping Malls here, find a Poncey Salon and pay 300 Peso for a cut but why would I want to do that?

I give the Barber 100 Peso and let him keep the change. Some would call that an excessive tip but the tip is at my discretion. When I go there he always remembers me and insists that I jump the queue much to my embarassment.

Sometimes I am glad I am follically challenged (the politically correct for baldies or those of us loosing hair)I too use the barbers on soi bukaow (Bua) and its 70 bhat but you know it all depends on both your state of mind and pocket as to wether you go for the 70 or 200 job as well as other factors such as the atmosphere of the place or your interest in a ladie/s working there??? I dont know about the others here but I am pretty sure there is a challange there to take a lady out from somewhere other than a bar. Anyway on the lighter note we as farangs always pay more than the locals I remember recently seeing a thai in Bua paying 20 for a shave when I pay 60/70 plus tip for the same. I just accept it for what it is and have another beer and enjoy the fact I am there on holidays and relaxing enjoying the company, activities, and the climate.

Papps - I have been to places where I have got in for free where Thais have had to pay and have also been to many places where falang pay the same price as Thai.

I'm don't recall exactly. I think it was close to 1K baht the last time I went there. Back in 2003, it was about 500b, so I was surprised when they presented me with the bill. Haven't been back.crying.gif

Rumor has it, that you are very high maintenance and again just a rumor.
