"I meet you at ..."

As anyone knows who has had a TG promise to meet them at a time/place...

... it just proves that TGs exist on a different plane of the Time Space Continuum that bears no resemblance to our own! :banghead

An excellent post but you try explaining to a bar girl that her selection criteria for who she sleeps with is based on involuntary, yet astute ecomnomic reasoning. :D

That would indeed be a challenge :hairout , but it can't be more difficult than trying to explain to a few (well, at least one) member of Pattaya Talk.

Gabor posted he wasnt a sex tourist but a fun tourist, comes to pattaya for fun , which i found amazing as he seems to have a heart attack everytime the price of sex goes up 1 baht

That reminds me of the most ironically named forum of all time........The Pattaya Fun  He must have missed out the "no" fun, as he sits muttering into his draught beer every time someone buys a tray of LDs , creates a party atmosphere or tips 100 baht lol.

Different concepts of the fun....:whistling:

the all time best: she's calling one of her friends after you get to your hotel room, not telling her pimp how much baht you agreed to pay

If she's calling her "pimp" it's not to tell her how much I agreed to pay as I don't discuss that in advance of the time for actual payment unless, of course, she asks.

What person did I insult? I didn't name any person in the post.

So why not state who the 'one member' is so we know for sure who you are insulting.

Don't be a pussy.

I'm sure Gabor wouldn't mind.

I wrote "a few (well, at least one) member." At LEAST one. I was being conservative. Why would you think I was referring to Gabor? Do you feel he is the sole BM on Pattaya Talk who lacks basic knowledge of economics and would be more difficult to educate than a bar girl?

So let's look at this logically: Unless you have a compelling reason to believe Gabor is the only BM of Pattaya Talk who fits the description above, my comment refers a small group of unnamed BMs and therefore can't by definition be a personal insult. But if Gabor wouldn't mind, it again by definition can't be a personal insult.

So in either case, your comment, "What's with the personal insults?," becomes irrelevant.

This is very entertaining, isn't it?

Back on topic...here's one I see all the time on the forums:

"Thai logic. Less customers, raise the price."

That is utter bullshit. It's a racist comment, pure and simple, impugning the ability of Thais to understand basic pricing and supply and demand.

A Thai business person understands pricing as much or more than some cube dweller posting on the internet parroting some statement he read years ago and internalizing it as a "fact".

I know farang who raise prices in slower times. I know farangs and Thais who raise prices when the demand is great, or when expenses rise. That's normal across all races.

For an example of this supposed Thai logic, go look at massage shop prices in the less traveled areas, Soi Chaiyapoon, for example. They have dropped in the last year or so. Why? Competition for customers! Less customers, the lower the price to get those that are available.

It would be much easier if you just named the individual instead of Fannying about.

Seems obvious to me that you're referring to Gabor. I don't agree with you but that is neither here nor there.

Wether or not Gabor minds being insulted by you, it's still an insult and still personal so you're wrong.

So who are you talking about?

I see nothing wrong with that logic.

Your average beer bar doesn't have unlimited funds at the bank to enable them to drop prices. It's a matter of getting what you can when you can or simply go bust.

Well, there you go. How can someone call it "Thai logic" when you're fully in agreement.

I just call it shallow thinking, and it seems to cross national and ethnic boundaries quite easily.alright.gif

Shallow thinking?

If you have one beer left in your fridge and one customer sat in front of you. What would you prefer he paid you, 50 Baht or 70 Baht?

The analogy is wrong.

You have lots of beer but no customers. Your beer costs the same, and you have plenty more where that came from. In fact, you really want to sell beer. Raising the price won't help you do that, though it might catch a few newcomers once.

But, to the point...you think it is good business practice to raise prices when your customer numbers decline? Yes or no?

Maybe that's called Filipino logic over there?

Or is it English logic?

Or are you just odd?

If I'm going bust because I can't survive by selling beers at 70 Baht each, selling them for 50 Baht is only going to make me go bust quicker.

Selling them for 90 gives me a chance. If I had regular valued customers, I'd slip them the occasional free drink to keep them onside.

Nobody wants to put up prices but needs must.

Why am I odd? Because you think so :clueless

Are you odd?

I asked if you were just odd, because you wholly subscribe to what so many people call "Thai logic" regarding pricing.

My point was not about the issue of raising prices in the absence of customers, but that it was not a trait confined to Thais.

You've proven that point very well.

Thanks.

My! What an outburst! I have upset you, haven't I? :grin Must mean I'm doing something right.

Not that it will matter to you, but I've never been on your Facebook page under any identity. You must be confusing me with one of 800 million other people.

You should have learned by now that your petty name-calling doesn't bother me. It only highlights your inability to take part in a reasonable debate. Remember, all games in the end are a matter of last man standing.

I'm sure Gabor wouldn't mind.

Are you still sure he wouldn't mind?
