THIS IS THE STRAIN OF FLU WHICH Pattaya BKK Hospital said i had ,all I can say it makes you feel very ill with very high temp ,non stop couphing ,sore thoat ,all bones hurt. Think I caught in Pattaya

Every year, they adjust the flu vaccine given out so that it protects against the strains of flu they think will be around that year. But they don't always guess right or, some new strain may pop up

Getting over a session of that here. Docs leaned towards thinking it was a virus and not food poisoning. On Saturday, the second day, I knew I was dehydrated and had no confidence in my ability to k

I've been noticing people dropping out of the nightlife or being sick for work a lot the past 2 or 3 weeks. I've been coming down with something myself this week..slow buildup to bring sicker or a slow fight to get better...not sure yet.

I wouldn't say that, I asked the TGF yesterday and she said nobody at her school was ill.

You have to wonder it it is being passed between monger-girl-monger-girl.

Might be healthier to put that condom over her head.

If I had, I wouldn't need to be asking the TGF. She attends 'The Fountain of Life'. I should call it a women's centre I suppose so scrub that off your list!

My son had it when he came over in August.......'Patient zero?'

He coughed and sneezed all over me and as there's only me to take care of him here I didn't want to go down with it too. I took a course of tamiflu as a prophylactic. It worked!

Some updates....

Yesterday I thought: Of course I'm insured...but I don't choose the hospital for three reasons... 1. my mate got the infusion, the antibiotics etc in the PI hospitaland his condition became no any better... Following the yesteday's second infusion and stronger medicines a slight progress... 2. Every day I feel better and better... but at some point fall back... 3. As I mentioned I had multiple bad experiences with the antibiotics and I hope to survive without it....( and hope everyday when I feel better and better )

Today: A strange thing... woke up at the morning and felt myself much better.... until I don't checked my temperature: 38.5 .... maybe the climate, but here I feel the best when my fever going up, I don't feel the hot, just feel myself like in the fresh environment... So, go to the hospital... a big jab to my ass... and to forget my previous medication... new tablets... What a mess... I googled about the medicines I got....

Antibiotic tablets with serious possible side effects, antitussis tablets ( pure codein ) pain and fever killer with narcotic ingredients, and antihystamine makes dizzy......

Somehow my temperature started to lower and started to sweat heavily.... every hour a new t-shirt...and on a happy " trip " from the narcotic elements... everything has the bright side :teeth:

Get well soon. On the bright side, all these types of illnesses usually resolve sooner or later.

Hope things are improving.

I'm sure you are aware antibiotics won't do a thing for a virus. On the other hand some of them will knock out the bacteria you need to have in your gut and things will start to flow freely if you get my drift.

The only time I have had prescription strength codeine was for a bad (bounce-on-the-bed) cough. During my recent bout of Thaksin's revenge, codeine would not have been a good thing as I was getting close enough to comfortably comatose as it was.

Codeine can block you up which may not be a good thing as your system wants to get rid of bad shit. I hate codeine personally.

One another note, one of "my girls" is also sick so it's not just a fallang thing that's going around.

Hardly a Farang thing at all. I can't imagine why you'd think anyone thought that. It's hitting all across the ethnic groups. I've had staff out for days coming down with it..as I have.

No, there are no groups that are exempt that I can see.

My doctor suggested that I get the flu needle as we travel alot. As a mother I rarely got the flu or sick if I cared for family members. After getting the injection I started getting the flu regularly at least once a year. After a trip to Japan I got very sick with flu symptoms, I asked the doctor how come I am getting the these flu's if you are giving me the injection and she said it doesn't cover every virus and if you do get one it effects you worst. I ask her if there is a reporting system on people who get the injection and get flu's and she said no. I stopped getting the injection and have had know sickness for 2 years now.

I have been watching the older people around me which get the Flu vacation it is basicly forced on them and they all get at least one around of flu or cough a year. I have convince my father not to get it this year after not been able to eat for two weeks lost 10 kg and a lot of muscle and his doctor just kept telling him its the flu, had lots of blood test and found nothing.

Say what you want this my personal experience. I Do not recommended it and they are not doing any follow up research.

If you are prone to heart problems; going without an annual flu shot greatly increases the odds of another stroke or heart attack.

I also read that research somewhere. Yes, along with dental hygiene. Interesting cause and effects.

I really embellish the reports about having sex five times a week. My ex- agreed, so that's why I am here in Pattaya :)

In regards to the Flu: I had two episodes a few months ago or perhaps it was only one with a re-occurrence. Sometimes, I get the annual flu vaccine, sometimes I don't. I seem to catch some illness a few times a year, but sometimes it's quickly alleviated with anti-biotics so not the flu. I use those anti-bacterial hand sprays regularly so some friends and Thai girls say my immune system is unprepared. Oh well.

Hi,

I got a shot a few years ago and was sick for a month afterwards. Haven't had one since. I inhale Olbas oil(a mix of oils) in the morning and evening and it is good for my dodgy sinuses and for keeping colds and flu away. A chap I know said he knows of 6 people who died last Winter after getting the flu shot. They were old and maybe they would have died anyway but ?

I was knocked out flat yesterday, only the third time in almost 15 years of regular visits. Significant fever, chills, body ache and no desire for sex. One of the freelancers I meet was kind enough to come by and get me some lunch, or I would have done without. There was a slow buildup to it, of 1-2 days of general unease, but during which I was functional..

Decided it was dengue, because there were no respiratory symptoms, and because of the body ache. Tylenol is the only suggested medicine, so I took it steadily and it seems to have worked. Woke up sweated out and with a wet t-shirt this morning, and feeling much better. Even walked down the beach for breakfast.

Dengue means mosquitos and the recent heavy rains may have caused water to pool and lead to heavy breeding.

I suppose it's possible that you had a very mild case of dengue, but having emerged from a nasty bout of it myself last week, I doubt that. In most cases the absolute fatigue, weakness, body ache, lack of appetite(s), chills and sweats last for weeks, plus there is a characteristic red rash on the arms and legs for a few days.

Actually, 80% of people infected with dengue have no symptoms or mild symptoms. Only 5% turn into more serious cases. Sorry to hear you were amongst those.

Pretty amazing infection - with effects ranging from nothing to death.

I'm still recovering from my bout after maybe 4 or 6 weeks. Either I picked up 2 different bugs or I got better and then had a re-occurrence. Mostly I had the same symptoms you have and no sore throat.
