Hello everyone.

I am a visitor in Pattaya and hoping to stay a little bit. But I do not know people and it will be nice to do so.

Social activity from this board seems to be almost entirely alcohol related, and I wonder if there is a chance of some people meeting in a non-alcoholic place.

If anyone is interested then please indicate, and we will try to agree on a time and place. I am hoping we will get people from all cultures and races and it is important that anyone who wishes to meet recognises this.

Thank you...I look forward to hearing from some people.

Well, you could always just go to a bar and drink orange juice or coke or whatever. No one makes you drink alcohol.

A friend of mine is teetotal but goes round the bars, has soft drinks and is quite happy doing so. Being sober all the time means he is always capable of taking advantage of the other pursuits Pattaya is famous for. He normally slopes off a bit sharpish with one of the better looking girls while the rest of us mostly wind up drunk or staggering home alone which is pretty much what we do in our own countries. It makes you wonder why some punters bother coming to Pattaya!

I don't drink much. Never drink beer and at most will have 2 mixed drinks in a night. The remainder of the time I drink soda or pineapple juice. I am happy and on one seems to mind. Just do what you want. I have learned I do not baby sit the drunks, they are on their own.

I think most punters who come to Pattaya follow the dictum of J.C. Fields - they don't trust people who don't drink.

To the OP: just socialise as you prefer and drink as you prefer, like the rest of us.

OP confuses me. Do you really mean you want to go to places that do not serve alcohol...and where might that be? If so, that would seem to eliminate essentailly all the places where there are girls, which is the reason most (if not all) go to Pattaya.

I don't drink much (maybe 1 per night) as I like being sober to make good choices and enjoy the girls. However, I'm amongst the smokers and drinkers most of the time.

You could always sit at the Coconut Bar!!

Yes, I wondered a bit about that, too.

To m4321: ALL bars of any stripe depend on the sale of alcohol, so there's no place with dancing girls or hostesses that doesn't serve alcoholic. The sale of drinks isn't a big factor at massage parlors, but they are hardly places to go to socialize with other non-drinkers. Most restaurants in Pattaya serve alcohol, but drinking isn't a big factor at most of them. If you already have a circle of friends, there are hundreds of restaurants where you could arrange to meet them, but in terms of getting to know non-drinkers on anything but a random basis, you don't have many options. There aren't any alcohol-free nightlife venues in Pattaya.

Two things. As has been pointed out people go to bars and drink whatever they fancy. There are thousands of Asians and Arabs that never touch the stuff. If however you just don't want to visit places that sell booze then whoever suggested that you visit Pattaya is no friend of yours! Head off to Bangkok as there are more temples, palaces, museums, night markets, and alternative entertainment.

Strange OP. Registered yesterday at 8:03pm, posted once at 8:13pm, logged out at 8:14pm, and has not returned for answers to the question.

Posting from Thailand as well.

I'm a bit leery of this thread. I wonder what the point was.

I think the guy just wants to go out to the clubs with other BMs that don't drink. It really isn't much fun to go out with a bunch of guys who are getting smashed if you are not drinking. As a teetotaler myself, I have had the same problem locating guys who are sober and fun-loving. M4321 - I would be glad to join you for a night out in Patts. Please ignore the criticism from the drunks. Alcohol has killed off most of their brain cells, hence their inability to understand such a simple request.

Jeez, I really didn't see much of the criticism you are griping about but get your digs in anyhow.

1 mark against sobriety.

I see what you mean by the dead brain cells. I noticed that the admin called a meeting of his own after my post - evidently the first ever. I guess the remaining functioning brain cells could not figure that out before my post.

I should not point fingers though, I have done my share of killing brain cells.

Anyway, you are correct, mostly. I simply wanted to meet up with some people, and not necessarily for a night out. If you are living long term (more than a few weeks) somewhere then there has to be more than bars and go gos. Having a decent conversation over a cup of coffee is not such a foreign concept in most places. I was just hoping to meet up with some non-drinkers, and if we decided to hit the clubs occasionally, no problem with that.

It is much more likely that some acquaintances and friendships will be struck if everyone comes with that in mind. And people do not need to disclose their Forum handles. They will be Mike or Bob or Mohammed or whatever.

I was not looking for advice on what to order in bars, or how to pick up women (in Pattaya for lord's sake!), or how to spend my time in this town. But I suppose I should thank everyone who offered advice.

Thanks for your offer to meet. Let's see if a few others show interest, then we can designate a cafe or something to meet up in. Given the response so far, I doubt it, but anything can happen.

I will check back after a few days.

What's that about?

Your question and the pattayatalk board members' meeting have nothing to do with each other.

Well after reading this response I am buggered why you are saving your brain cells!

There's nothing wrong with non alcohol drinkers wanting to hook up with each other. Quite the contrary. I hope you guys make the effort to meet up and have a good time.

So we have the lads meeting up at FLB for a booze up and possible GGB crawl on Friday night.

And a coffee morning for the ladies..... :D

As to men, either they drink, or they used to, really used to.

What do you do nowadays? Once a month drink ten beers and then sleeping it off for the next 3 days! Never barfine just groping. Sad fuck taking the piss out of people that probably have more fun than you.

I suppose an illegal beer must have tasted good after licking all that Saudi ass during your ass licking years lmfao.

You know not what!

It is sad when you have to go around chasing those who obviously are living a better life than you.

Now please excuse me, I need to pump last night's rain out of the pool, later my gardener will arrive and tidy the place up. The rainy season sure makes things grow. Good luck in the London derby tomorrow.

Sheesh, all the guy wanted to do was meet up with a bunch of non-drinkers. For all we know, he could be an ex-alkie who doesn't trust himself in a bar/go-go setting. Much the same reason I try and avoid bars that allow smoking these days.

You sound like a fucking Peasant scraping by out in the stix.

You keep going on about your swimming pool, LOL.

Post a photo. I need a good laugh. A fucking swimming pool! Is that a status symbol in Bumfuck Chonburi?
