Full English Breakfast

Went to Robin’s Nest yesterday, “Full English” was 185B, the service was not good at all, no greeting or speaking of any kind, just put the menu down in front of me.

The food was very tasty, 2eggs, 3bacon, 1sausage, beans, tomatoes, fried potatoes, 1toast & a mug of coffee.

 

Today, went to the “Sportsman’s”, same again, but the service girls were friendly.

195B gets you, again, a very tasty, 2eggs, 1bacon, 1sausage, beans, tomatoes, bubble & squeak, 1toast & a cup of coffee.

Last time I was in London, awaiting a train to Paris at Waterloo Station, I purchased a 'Full Irish Breakfast', which was pretty well what I might call a Full English Breakfast, but with both black and white pudding added.....

 

At what price please?

Just for your information Butchers Arms is now part of the Retox group. So it now shares many items of their menu.

 

I definitely won't be going there again then as I'm not a fan of the food in Retox although it's one of the best places in town to watch sporting events.

 

I have always enjoyed my breakfasts at Canterbury tales in Soi pot hole plus they do some healthy breakfasts if you don't fancy a full house.

 

Not a bad breakfast but the orange juice they serve is awful and it's often difficult to get a table on your own out the front.

I'll have to give that a try as black pudding is an essential part of an English breakfast in my opinion. I wish you could get bubble with English breakfasts in Pattaya, I'm yet to find a place that does it.

Black and white pudding are always in an Irish breakfast. My local greasy spoon does various breakfasts and you can choose what you like. I sometimes have chips even though they are not traditionally part of an Irish/English breakfast.

I have never seen an 'English' bf advertised as an, 'English bf' that fits your description of toast and jam..........Otherwise by definition we would see the same in Pattaya........And it would follow logically that what we know as an, 'English bf' would be called a 'Thai bf'.......??

 

 

Butch is usually 'spot-on' .......maybe I've been away too long.

 

 

PS last time I was in London a menu said: 'Breakfast

Anytime' so I ordered French toast during the Renaissance.

Went to the Queen Vic this morning, service was good and the breakfast was the best so far.

The Full English is 180B and for that, you get, 2eggs, 3bacon, 1large sausage, beans, tinned tomato, mushrooms, 1toast and a cup of coffee.

I also added 2fried bread for 40B, worth every penny, top notch grub.

I'd recommend Captain's bar on soi honey for full English and queen vic on soi 6. Having said that I personally prefer buffet breakfasts at the hotels like Lek hotel on second road - great choice of thai or western food and fruit/cereal/drinks. Really cheap.

The 'Wentworth' breakfast at The Golf Club is about the best breakfast in Pattaya IMO. The only trouble is that its rather small and often you get a cigar smoking golfer blowing smoke around the place. Also excellent is Kilkenny, who do a superb full English including Heinz beans. I also enjoy the Continental Bakery German Breakfast which is essentially two lightly boiled eggs, crusty bread and a selection of hams and cheese.

Thinking about this I have one other candidate. A boardie was asking about Chang Mai a few days ago and perhaps the best breakfast was part of the very reasonable nightly rate at the Pornping Hotel. I was having a drink on the rooftop bar with some other Euro people staying there and everyone mentioned it and in some cases took fruit and yoghurt out and that was their food for the day as they stuffed themselves full in the restaurant.

Depending on your needs. Are you a smoker as I think that would make a hell of a difference.

 

Non smoking: Retox Soi Lengkee. 98 baht,

 

Almost next to Retox is the Vogue/Thailand and the breakfast is about the same price but you can sit out doors and smoke.

 

Killkenny. Basic breakfast is 110 baht but you can smoke and you do have the Soi LK circus to look at.

Retox has outdoors tables now for the smokers (well, re-purposed cable rolls with seats anyway) .
