  1. What a pleasant morning, hot and humid yesterday.

  2. After a software update by my VPN provider, normal service has been resumed. (Interrupted also by loss of internet at the house for a spell).
  3. Airplane 2
  4. I am to the North of town and we did get a very windy and heavy rain spell last night around 8pm. Didn't last long.
  5. I think my VPN (IPVanish) has started working again for the BBC IPlayer, there was an update then it worked, but, the next morning my Internet went down, and has been down since (tethered from the Mrs phone right now). The little guy arrived yesterday and was disappointed the problem was as I told him and not a quick fix. He was up and down concrete poles in the rain. Gave up and went home..... Another lesson learned, beware of refurbished smart phones, Verizon have blocked all forms of tethering unless you are on their network on the one I got!
  6. I have been having a saga with my gardener and his crappy old equipment, I feared I might attack anyone running around early with a mower had I been out the night prior! As it was, he apparently called last night to cancel an early Friday arrangement, and she failed to tell me until just now! So I shall be digging out my old equipment and having a go myself. I accidentaly ran into Firth last time he was here and we hit a few GGB, memory is vague. How was the night? I am a little 'off' the Walking St of late, plus the realisation that there are actually 7 days in a week, and having some cash left at the end of the month is a positive trade-off. Ageing is winning out.......
  7. What a great review, haven't seen one like this for a while.
  8. Mutiny on the Bounty.
  9. Thanks for the update. Quite infuriating that stopping is still happening on Sukhumvit exacerbating the traffic choking. I saw one pickup had just stopped at the side, put on his hazard lights, and got out talking to workers at the pavement area in the midst of the construction. The traffic behind was nigh stationary as everyone struggled to get into one lane. The guy presumably could not give a shit he was holding up many hundreds of people. Minibuses still pick-up and drop off. Yet the police were further down stopping traffic, so the odd car could get out of Index! An area to be avoided in rush hour when in a car or truck! We are about 9 months in, anyone interested in a sweepstakes on the official tunnel opening date?
  10. Is it really a problem in the board's software. I haven't seen the problem for ages and am here a good bit.
  11. Robert Ryan
  12. Yes I forwarded this to my old UK pal who now lives in Oz! Of course he now claims to have been supporting Oz all along.
  13. I don't know how good it is but doesn't Tequila Reef do one?
  14. Wow, I felt slightly cold last night, is rainy season soon to be over?

Pretty good rain Jomtien way about 6pm last night.

  15. Dr No
  16. I don't think Jeremy Kemp was in that, how about.. The Blue Max.
  17. I drove through it all yesterday and it was worse than previously. The reason appears to be work going on outside of the main tunnel construction close to the pavements in both directions. I think this was modifications or installations of electrical cables, so the traffic was being choked further. It is a bit dodgy on a bike, sure you can wend your way through but beware at weekends when Bangkok drivers are in the mix. They seem to be more aggressive and don't like to give way. Another thing to beware of would be people making their way home early or late evening, there is a chance they have been drinking, likely heavily, and patience becoming thin. I had 2 incidents (elsewhere not by the tunnel) over the weekend where I came across someone driving drunk as a skunk, no lights, on and off the road, and another where I believe a group of a few lads who had been at Bira or somewhere up Hwy 36 were coming home in their Nissan with a spoiler and noisy exhaust, looking for a bit of trouble and racing. Driving here is getting dodgier, and you are on your own out there.
  18. Funny, witty and so apt as usual!
  19. Groundhog Day.
  20. Likely depends on which VPN you use and whether the BBC has got the IP addresses on their block-list. I bet it impacts those actually living in the UK and legitimately using the IPlayer who like the added security of a VPN. The one I use has closed down the threads on their Forum on this subject, I suppose it is bad for business. A friend of mine uses this and says it still works, not really a VPN. Not suitable for me as I use multiple devices and you pay per device. Sat up a bit late last night watching the Great British Bake-Off live rather than early as I couldn't get into the IPlayer.
  21. Mel Gibson
  22. Not any more I don't.......... BBC IPlayer cracks down!
  23. Danny Glover.
  24. My mother used to get a Capon for Christmas, obviously we do not do Turkey day the same. It was never a massive family gathering, just us and grandma and a turkey is just too big. A Capon is a good between, and apparently a better taste than regular chicken. I must admit I was invited to Thanksgiving a few times when in the USA and loved the turkey, dark meat especially.
  25. Hard to link that to posting hanging for me on my old laptop. Just best to be glad of the fix, well done.
