Having some heavy rain right now where I am, north of town. It just seems to be bubbling up here rather than coming from any specific direction. Radar Image

Well I am certainly glad the bugger drowned in my pool. If I had seen that running around I would have gone into lock down! Every now and again I catch a tookay, when they come inside and become a nuisance, and release them a few Km away. Last time I showed it to the postman and he told me they are good money as they are a delicacy to the Chinese. he didn't want it though. It scared the bejeebers out of a young girl at the Shell station so I chased her round the forecourt with it.

I would have struggled with that thought yesterday as I rode through quite deep water on Soi Buakhao. Some of the side streets running to third were closed and in others I could see people wading thigh deep. I didn't have much choice as I certainly was not going to risk 2nd Rd! We are still well down on rainfall this year but nice to know the drains are still not quite up to it!

Look at this critter. Apparently they have a rather nasty bite that can be quite dangerous. Fortunately it was dead already at the bottom of my pool. At first I thought it was one of those large pods from a tree. Had it crawled over my foot when in a living state I may well have keeled over without it biting me!

Yeah I saw them doing a stint at the Klang/3rd junction about 10 days ago, anyone turning left off Klang to go south. My usual turn is onto ArunaThai and waiting there one is likely to get pushed forward! This is infuriating as I regard it as minor issue and would rather see them catch those that double park on Klang (a bloody great big coach on Thursday night), those that run reds, particularly for 5 seconds after they became red etc etc. Turning left on red, done when clear, just keeps things moving!

If I had to guess it is the level of traffic and perhaps perceived danger, if indeed renting bikes has diminished. There still seem to be a lot of rental outfits out there, likely more than necessary. When I first came here it was how I got around, to those quieter beaches a little further out where the baht buses didn't go in Naklua.

Mostly Chinese was my experience last night, couldn't walk down the St. I actually walked behind the Tourist police pick-up as it was clearing a way for me, moved quite quickly but ended up dizzy and blinded from the flashing lights.

We had a very breezy day yesterday, which often indicates the season change, ie dry and cooler now. My Mrs thinks the dry season is here already, but rain is forecast over the weekend.

They have been closing the odd pub and GGB for years, such actions come and go and who is in control seemed irrelevant. What changes have we seen in Pattaya, for a while M/C taxi guys were hassled a bit but is it any different now? Is there less crime in town, have the ride by grabs on the handbags and gold chains been reduced, do rental motorcycles still occupy most of the kerbside parking, does traffic stop at the red pedestrian lights and baht buses only stop at designated positions? Nothing new here.
