Good example, you waited around an hour for the bus to save 1000 baht. Fast Track looks like an expensive option particularly, as Joe says, the long boring lines rarely take you an hour to pass through. I take it as a freeby when I fly in long haul Biz Class. When I fly in from nearby, I sometimes have the TGF with me and brazenly try the shorter Thai lines. If I left the Air Asia plane alone, I stand in line and look for Thaksin flaws in the airport construction.

Yes of course, it was likely the usual media of flapping uneducated lips or scaremongering. That said the baht has strengthened in recent times. What was today's little eye-widener? Oh yes DTAC is an alien company says Deputy Commerce Minister Alongkorn Ponlaboot, it contains the old Thai favourite of Zenophobia. But Commerce Permanent Secretary Banyong Phuangrach said at a press conference today that Alongkorn could just give the recommendation given that he is a caretaker minister who has no authority in this case.which looks similar to saying Alongkhorn should keep his nose out. There is better entertainment over here despite the Rupert Murdoch fiasco back home!

Well apart from past political instability having held the Baht back... and a presumption that those days are behind Thailand.

Baht to strengthen. Bad news if you are here on a pension perhaps. :

Everytime I have been in WS in daylight hours it has been full of beer delivery trucks. There are the late night discos, that go on after sunrise, then you could sleep until beer o'clock. Try venturing outside WS. Soi 6 starts about midday. A few places (not as glitzy) on Soi Post Office atart up in the afternoon. Jump on a baht bus on Phratamnak, cruise into the wilds of second rd North. try the big new mall, Grand Central Festival Beach Rd ??,. lots of places to eat in there, pick up a girl walking around.

I have been told that Eva's Biz Class has deteriorated of late. I just did Qatar and although you have to transit at Doha, the on-board service is very good. Meals are of a high stndard too. For 1600 baht you can be met at the aircraft and escorted through Fast Track. Here..But many who have flown economy really want to save money.

I thought there was another thread abouyt this somewhere. The repair shop in the basement of Tukcom has been mentioned. Also the service centre at Numcha, begind their showroom on Sukhumvit. What brand is it? You could look up the service centre. Problem with these modern flat sreens is I always chuck the box out then it is difficult to transport it. If it is an old one try replacing it with one from the many second hand shops or at the auctions.

It was free in the Thai lounge too in BKK, so if you sit just outside the door you should be able to get on it. Just look for an Indian sat using his computer in an odd place. -

I see you avoided Bushcrafts over-evaluation of the Expat's worth to the big-picture Thai economy. Generally something you pick up on. This follows on the heels of a headline regarding farang land-ownership to be quashed doesn't it. Anti-farang headlines seem to be common these days, must be trying to emulate the success of the UK's Daily Mail.

Correction accepted... I have made some effort at my own place with insulating foam on the underside of the roof and double glazing UVPC windows. But as I said my 12.2k unit handles things, I even lock the fan on low speed to keep the noise down and switch it on an hour before bedtime.... I considered for the OP that it was a bedroom and not needed for the midday heat. I also tried this calculator and came up with a slightly higher figure of 13,860 BTU/Hr. I agree with your recommendation of getting around the shops Carrefour (Now another BigC), BigC, Homeworks, HomePro, Numchai and look for special offfers. There are some units available at about 13.5KBTU, and there are often units they are selling off (end-of-line) at great prices. I just pulled out a Daikin leaflet, their 17.7500 BTU unit is 26,000 baht. I wanted to look at the Numchai website but there is a warning about it dumping trojans!

That is quite a big bedroom, mine is 5x4 metres (20sqm) and my 12,200 BTU/hr unit handles it fine. A 12k unit should handle a room that size, a little under 400 sq ft.There are always other factors, like a sun-facing wall, high ceilings, large window space.... or a person who likes it very cold ..... or is a bedroom athlete. I used these numbers... Sq Ft.............. SqM................BTUs 100 - 250............9 - 23............5000 - 6000 250 - 400...........23 - 37............6000 - 8500 400 - 550...........37 - 51............8000 - 11000 550 - 875...........51 - 81...........11000 - 15000 Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/42075 Are you sure you need to replace the current unit, it might just need servicing or gas putting in. Does it freeze up?

I believe there are two levels of intensive care. ICU and CCU... I have seen people in ICU who one would think did not need to be there. ( I am not a doctor, but I play one on TV). Hospitals in LOS are businesses, designed to maximise profit not health. Doctors/ consultants are on commission based remuneration. They also 'nickel and dime' you with lots of small items and unknown charges, except they are more than dimes. People are reticent to argue with doctors, as they are held up as Godlike. BPH has a reputation as being expensive here. Firstly when your brother arrives, try to tell BPH that you intend to move your father as the costs are excessive, they are frequently agreeable to retain a patient and reduce the charges. If that is not forthcoming, and your father is stable, I would consider moving to Sri Racha, the PHYATHA. Good luck with the Insurance company, best wishes to your father, and let us know how things work out. Lovedog made me think of another point.... there may well be a bike renter in the wings looking for compensation for his damaged machine. The rented bikes are generally renter responsible for all damages. -
I am more of the opinion that you need to be selective of which ones you use, and of course if things do not work out, really expect them to backpedal and decline to assist you. The one you mention, Airasia, particularly the Thai wing of it, have served me well for quitte a number of times in and out of BKK. That and better schedules and prices than say Thai Airways. I use them to get around SE Asia, to go between LOS and UK, I step it up a notch.
