Malaysian Air Flight 370 is missing (Boeing 777-200)
JONPAT replied to short's topic in Airline Discussion
If the wing was weakened during the ground wing touching incident last year, would a years worth of flying make the wing a candidate for catastrophic separation from the fuselage ? If the wing were vibrating enough for the pilot to notice, he decides to turn back, the extra stress of the turn on the wing is enough to tear it off. The wing goes straight down and so does the rest of the plane. The separation of the wing would cause the radio to go out? The two pieces hit the water just right so that they go straight to the bottom of the gulf and are sticking in the mud. No breach of the fuselage -

Malaysian Air Flight 370 is missing (Boeing 777-200)
JONPAT replied to short's topic in Airline Discussion
Security at LAX (USA) is probably better than what was on duty at Malaysia. You can sleep, has been a long time since a plane leaving a USA gateway airport has been blown up. Yes, I think this 777-200ER was blown up, by whom and why I wouldn't guess. -

How did anyone know at this point in time that the passport used were stolen? Did the authorities have reason to suspect these two? I hope some heads roll in Thailand to find out how these passports got into someone elses hands. I hope some body in Malaysia loses their job for not checking out everyone on board before the plane took off. The two imposters must of been european, I'd guess. Either an inside job in Malaysia to get these two aboard or lax security; don't know which is worse.. -
My passbook did not update that far back when I used the ATM like machine outside their office by Tukcom. The update went back 3 months when I updated it in the machine. So, go inside and see if it goes back further than 3 months is what I'd do next time.

Anyone have a recent kidney stone procedure?
JONPAT replied to BeerBelly's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
I don't know about Thailand. I got it in Florida from a prescription from the Doctor. -
Anyone have a recent kidney stone procedure?
JONPAT replied to BeerBelly's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
Other than lipotripsy and going in after the stone the only method I know of is Flowmax. Give the Glowmax a few weeks before you let them go in after it. The Flowmax is used for prostate problems, Google would tell you more than I know. -
Libraries of second hand bookshops
JONPAT replied to chouttoumatte's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
If you are mobile and plan to stay awhile you may want to find the library up on Sukhumvit, just North of where Klang meets it. -
Yes, my wrist got a workout. If I liked I could hold the pole up for seconds at a time to strengthen my arms, even feel it in the torso. A sturdy stick by all means.
-
At home I use the wooden pole from a hay pitch fork. Drilled a hole in the bottom and screwed in a washer/screw to keep it from wearing out to soon.

JONPAT replied to rmicheald's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Make sure you don't get safflower confused with saffron. It is easy to do. -

Areca Lodge, construction noise next door.
JONPAT replied to The_Fat_Controller's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
The rooms facing Soi Baukhoa have to affected by the pile driving, probably as much as the Areca rooms facing the machine. I hear it and I'm up the street from the Mercure. -
Green Hotel Soi 9 Pattaya
JONPAT replied to darkmancomes's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I agree, save money where you can if you can. The baht rate dropped from 30.57 to 29.50 in the last month. I exchange over a hundred dollars a day so the difference betwee 3057 and 2950 baht is over a hundred baht, in a months time that is a LT with a beauty. It adds up eventually. My budget was 90,000 baht a month, still is but it cost $90 more a month than planned. -
You can catch the NFL playoffs at 'Chic-N-Coop' behind Toy BAR on 2nd avenue just south of Kiss Restuarant across from Mike's Mall. I don't know of any place in Jomtien, not much of an American presents there.

Is it our own fault Walking Street is going downhill?
JONPAT replied to Butch's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Not our fault! Things change is all: sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. Even better and worse is debatable, worse for farang but better for Thai girls. There is a lot more money floating around Thailand that creates more opportunity for the girls. I have to think that a lot of the prettier girls that years ago would be on WS are now Mia Noi's for some well off Thai guy or even foriegn managers that have money now that were not here or monied up ten years ago. There is a lot more money chasing fewer girls and we are not at fault for that. Thailand is getting riche -
Yes, as of Monday the 5th. Don't bother with the copy, piss poor sound, terrible focus, tuberculosis guy coughing every ten minutes - perhaps a better copy in a few weeks but not the one I saw. Can't really follow the dialogue, much of the picture is out of focus, you will not enjoy it.

Ok, thanks guys for your help. Right, next time I"ll not worry about close to Embassy, just near BTS is all. I'm using the rail link out to the airport just for the experience, I may end up using regular bus from Ekami instead of going to airport. used www.bkkguestfriendlyhotels.com/LegacyExpress/index.htm to book the Legacy Express for a little over 1300 baht with breakfast. Is at 29 Sukhumvit and has good reviews, should be able to get my 'income verification' letter done and get back for breakfast before checking out.
-
Within easy walking distance (2.0 KM or about 25 minutes ) of US Embassy and perhaps close enough to Nana Plaza as a secondary consideration. Budget is up to 2200 baht but could go up a bit if there was a special reason. I need to be at the Embassy for an 8:30 AM appointment and afterwards plan to take skytrain (for the experience) out to Suvanaboumi for Bell Bus back to Pattaya.

Such as drink water, drink beer, go thirsty, .... come on: if you are going to deprecate a post then write up your alternatives. Other than McDonalds or Burger King or the coffee at Subway ( 29 baht-Soi Diane/Baukhoa) where would you get your morning cup of coffee.

Is there a current map of all hotels
JONPAT replied to twomp's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
If you go to agoda and pick any hotel there will be an option to see its location. The map that comes up shows the chosen hotel and most everyother one near it. You can use your cursor to move to other parts of town on the map and more hotels will show up. Cursor on a dot and the hotel info shows up. There is also a smaller icon/button that you can click and all hotels except the one you are interested in dissappear; then you can close in on that hotel and really see which soi it is on or nearby.
