  1. If you want more replies... it would be a good idea to learn how to post the details here. Some people here have logins for PA, but my guess is that most do not or will not be bothered to go there to look. I know I won't... and I am in the market for a new place.
  2. Yup. WAY too many warning flags before you even got to the room. Thats what forums like this are for... learning (preferably ahead of time) things just like this. Been reported a number of times on this forum.
  3. Unless one of the cable companies has a line in there, your options are nil, other then over the air by AIS/DTAC. Even satellite requires that you have a phone line (or other internet connection) to work. I suggest you choose a new village, if possible. Pick where you want to live based on your needs... if you can that is.
  4. First, not everything you have read about Pattaya is true, likely. Become a member here first by following the instructions in the "HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER" thread. Then read some of the newbie section. Most of your questions are answered there. Few people will respond to you when you are not a full member.
  5. Ignore the idiots. Your just fueling their next rant. I personally don't expect the SALESMEN i do business with to be highly educated or use correct punktuation Now if the owner of the school were to make the post... maybe. A salesman? No. Sure it would have been better maybe, but who gives a shit really? Its not like anyone is going to sign up from this forum actually intending to LEARN thai... they just want the visa.
  6. So... your saying that each person in christchurch is "6 times" more important and/or more missed then each of those from the other "incidents"? Not cool dude. Its a tragedy, to be sure... and our well wishes go out to the families of those lost. But there is no way you can compare the above events in the way you are trying to. 240 grieving families is quite a bit less than the 2752 families that grieved (and are still grieving) after the trade center tragedy.
  7. I think you should read some more of the thread, including my original post. You obviously did not bother. I too until the last month have said nothing bad about PBG. Early last year I would eat there on average 5 days a week for several months, all with no complaint. In the last 4-5 weeks or so I have not had a single meal there where something wasnt wrong - with the worst case being completely raw chicken. While I like and respect Pete, I do NOT agree that this board is not the place for this conversation. This board is exactly the place for it. Not only has it brought to light many other people that have had problems (who would likely not have come forward), it got a public explanation from Pete that covers most of the issues so that people who would not have complained might go back and try again. These forms are just for this type of conversation - thats the whole point. And if you had read my original post, you would know why I posted here instead of taking it to Pete directly. I should have known he would read and reply, but this was not meant for him - it was meant to get a consensus to see if others have noticed the issue or if it was just me. As I stated, I usually only order a single meal there, so it may very well have been that one menu item and not the whole shebang.
  8. Re-read my post. You obviously did not bother. I DID deal with the manager last night, and listed my reasons for posting here instead of going to Pete for the other. If you have something relevant to add, please do so.
  9. Thought about that, but wanted to see if it was just me before bringing it to Pete. If nobody else sees a problem, then no need to bother him or call out something thats not a problem (or may have just been really bad luck on my part)
  10. Damn - you were one of the ones I hoped would tell me its just been bad luck lol. Ya, the wait time was very long last night - but again, I dont really care about that. I enjoy sitting out on the ocean of an evening. For me, I would rather wait for a great meal then get a quick shitty meal
  11. Like I said, I have only noticed it for the last month - before that the food was the best to be found in Pattaya for the most part.
  12. I was going to send Pete an email about this, but thought maybe it might just be me or perhaps its just been bad luck. First off, most people on here know I can never say enough about the good food at PBG - its been the first place I recomend to new visitors for the 3 years I have lived here. That said, for the last year or so I have only gone at night, because I did not like the way my favorite meal was prepared by the morning/afternoon cooks. To be fair, I tend to eat the same thing 90% of the time when I go there - tho I have had just about everything on the menu at some point or other. Anyway - the afternoon cook always did things differently, like adding onions and garlic to the vegetables - I hate that! Also, when I would order Chicken Cordon Blue in the afternoon it would almost always taste oily and was almost never tender like the night cook's masterpiece. Anyway - about a month or so ago the night time meals started to taste the same. Happened 2 times in 2 days about a month ago, which is the first I noticed it. I figured the day cook was working because the veggies had onions in um... so I chalked it off. 2 weeks ago same/same... and last night again. Even worse, my meal last night was not even cooked. It took almost a hour to arrive (no problem as I am never in a hurry), and I tend to eat the veggies/fries first - which had onions lol (I can live with that, just dont prefer it). I got about 1/3 thru my chicken tho when I noticed it was awfully soft... and not hot. as you know the lighting there is a bit bad so I pulled out my phone (which has a flashlight function), and found that the chicken (which was about 1/2 or 3/4 inch thick on both halves), was completely uncooked. It was white for about 1/16th an inch or so, then pink and bloody the rest of the way thru. Raw chicken is VERY bad.... can make a person very very sick, so I waited 24 hours to make sure I wasnt going to get food poisoning, before posting this. All is well - Feel like I have a bit of a cold coming on, but not food poisoning (thank ) My point however is that around a month ago all seems to have changed. I would be willing to bet that the evening cook either quit or was fired, and the new cook is either the afternoon cook or was trained by him (lol). Anyone else notice the difference? Am looking to hear mostly from expats who eat there frequently... Depending on how people respond, I may still shoot Pete an email - but if nobody else noticed, ill leave over lol. Maybe I'm getting old. Either way there is no excuse for uncooked chicken in the kitchen, but mistakes do happen - and the manager made it right. Hell, I told her not to worry about it, that I didnt want anything else (was a bit freaked at eating that much raw chicken), and told her not to bother - but she removed the meal from the bin anyway (I would have paid without complaint), and I'm sure she told the cook off for it, so thats handled. :) The issue of the food quality changing for the worse tho... if others have noticed it, then Pete needs to know so he can fix it, which I am sure he would be quick to do - he has always been quick to ensure customer satisfaction.
  13. No rain at my house yet, but the thunder is rumbling out there somewhere, and its awful dark for this time of day.
  14. Well... I had my mind set on a Jack Russel. Smart, small and faithful :) We couldnt find one tho, so the GF opted for a fluffball. They say its a PomPom, but I have my doubts. Cute little bastard tho... We got it about a month ago now... had its first shots, and so far so good. :) Frosty
  15. Thanks for that.. Will give him a call tomorrow. Thanks!
  16. /Agreed on the fact that you just wont know until you get here. I love songkran. Always have... Less so when I was on Holiday as it did get old going home to get clean clothes on only to be drenched by some drunk falang idiots on walking street just before I get to where I was going :/ Now tho, since I live here, I can just go out and have fun and stay home otherwise, and its a good time. Either way tho, I would say come on... experience it and see if you like it. Worst case scenario you can bus it up to Bangkok to wait it out. Tips: Bring ziplock baggies for your phone and money when you go out during the day (the double zip kind), and good solid well built sandles that strap around your ankle. Shoes are a no-go, and the cheap flipflops will end up falling off or breaking, and the ones you can find here are bad quality - most will break after only a day or so of hard use. If you want photos, buy a cheap waterproof camera.
  17. Anyone know if there are any Chiropractors operating in Pattaya? TIA Frosty
  18. How about we remove this to the politics section?
  19. A while back Thailand blocked most of the outbound video stream sites, including the site used by the walking street cam and the FLB Bar. I was able to set up a work around to get FLB back up, but likely the people running the walking street cam do not know how to do that. Until the political mess is solved there is likely no chance of the blocks being lifted... Even after the political mess is handled I doubt they will be, but at least there is a possibility.
  20. My suggestion: Give a pass to EVERY property thats advertised on the internet, including those at fairproperties. If they advertise on the internet, then there is a very good chance that a falang is involved in some way as 95% of Thai owners/managers do not use the internet to advertise their properties. Only property managers do, and they WILL take a cut, which is usually taken out of a higher rent or deposit. The absolute best way to find a place here is to simply get on a motorbike and drive around. It wont take you long - there are hundreds of places for rent on the pattaya outskirts. Find one with a sign up, call the number and you will get a MUCH better deal then you will online. Frosty
  21. If you get one, post a photo of the shop. will try to make it out there tomorrow- would love to find a good source of good cheese here. I usually have friends bring blocks of it over for me... but would rather have a nice variety.
  22. Kewlo - Ill stop to see. But... There are a LOT of soi's connecting Nern plubwan and Siam. Which soi is it exactly? Or is that meant to be the end of nern plubwan where the temple is? Tho I dont remember seeing another 7-11 halfway to Soi Siam there... Better directions are a must :) Frosty
  23. ok, this gave me a laugh. Police: "Sawatdee Krap." Tourist: "I want to file a complaint." Police: "Ok. What happen?" Tourist: "My taxi driver cannot speak english" Police: "eh?" Tourist: "My taxi driver did not know where my hotel was" Police: "eh?" Tourist: "I really think you should do something" Police: "Ok. No problem. 500 baht" Tourist: "What 500 baht for?" Police: "Cost 500 baht to file complaint." Tourist: "Ok, here" Police: "Ok, good. Now we take care, you not worry. Go your hotel and we call you soon" Tourist: "Great!"
  24. Thats the stupidest stupid thing I have seen written on these forums in a long time. How good is your Thai then? Are you dumb as dog shit because you cannot read and write Thai? Or German? Or Russian? Should Germans and Russians then think your as dumb as dog shit because you cant speak in their language? Thai's have the same IQ average as every other race in the world. They are neither smarter nor dumber then any race. Many of them are MUCH better at language then most of the people on this forum, myself included. I speak and understand only a few words of Thai, and find it bloody impressive that they do so much better with 2 languages. That said, many Thai's are not educated, but there is a very large difference between intelligence and knowledge.
  25. Probably could have done better without shots of the fat long haired hippy looking guy setting up the audio
