  1. A joke masquerading as a newspaper is doing the UK no favours by undermining a new Foreign Secretary in this way.
  2. Many of us watching were stricken with disbelief when England once again proved clueless - they rarely fail to disappoint when it counts. No imagination, no idea what to do, passing the ball around in the hope that somebody else will come up with something - horrible to watch. Well done Iceland, a well-deserved win against a lacklustre bunch of overpaid sluggards.
  3. Someone's bound to want to make dough out of this!
  4. Her body was writhing and she was moaning and calling my name ... I clearly wasn't pressing down on the pillow hard enough.
  5. I suggest Skyline would be the perfect name for your rooftop place. I'll be in to sample Bite Me soon, you're just down the road from the house.
  6. The lunatics are in charge of the asylum. What an appalling overkill and lack of judgement to storm these premises mobhanded and then even arrest people peacefully playing Bridge, the king of card games and a huge source of pleasure for many.
  7. You can buy packs of the German Haribo brand licorice from e.g. Friendship, if I remember correctly.
  8. Bunch of bloody party-poopers with their alcohol bans. Laughable do-gooders (controllers), just as we have in the west but with more power and less accountability.
  9. I second Evil's vote for Mama's Restaurant at the Beach Rd. end of Soi 6, very good pizzas with thin crust.
  10. I made a post yesterday and after a long wait, 1 character per line was displayed after pressing 'Post'. Did nothing further, but the post has been quoted since and the formatting is in order. This took 2 minutes to finally post.
  11. It's seriously well worth a visit for the food and the very friendly owner, and of course dead convenient for Cherry Bar 20 yards away.
  12. My dear friend Lieutenant Khyber Was sorely afflicted with gas A native fed him a laxative herb And now you should see Khyber pass!
  13. I love the food at that place and will keep going there, though hoping that your problem was a one-off.
  14. There's a lovely crop of potholes appearing all over the place following the flood, great if you're out and about on a bike. And the Beach Road walkway is a complete disaster area thanks to shoddy workmanship.
  15. Thanks for this recommendation, I've just devoured all three books and they are absolutely riveting, highly recommended.Outstanding characterisation, storytelling, suspense, the lot.
  16. My impression this that this shot-from-the-hip law will be honoured more in the breach, i.e. ignored on the ground whereit might disrupt the status quo, or where a few baht in the right direction will tip the balance. Probably any visitor to Thailand breaks some Thai law or other as soon as he/she steps off the plane, there is a plethora of laws that just lie in wait for those who step on the wrong toes or have the nerve to run a business here. Laws that are not or only partially enforced because nonsensical (e.g. alcohol sales in 711s all day long, but strictly controlled times in supermarkets (WTF?))can suddenly be enforced by knowledgeable police officers if they feel like it. I don't think that Thai legislators really care how well drafted their laws are, lack of clarity is how the whole place is run, and how corruption becomes the norm.
  17. 2011, there are loads of these about so I thought no pic was necessary - it's a PCX in white with brown seat and front/ side facings. Only a personal look will suffice for a buying decision anyway, I think.
  18. In good condition, colour white/brown with 13,000 km on the clock. Asking price 30,000 Baht.
  19. There was a young man from Australia Who painted his bum like a dahlia The result was precise The colours quite nice The aroma? Ah, that was a failure
  20. Heavens, bet she regrets that bunch of smart-ass insults. What an obnoxious person, hope it harms her career with lasting effect and lesson learned.
  21. Thanks for those Martin, English is truly an amazing language and a joy. The version of #14 I knew is: Tits like coconuts, finches like seeds.
  22. Thanks for those firth, I lived in East Sheen for many years, and that whole area was my stamping ground.
  23. Here's an American one on grammar. A freshman at Yale, a southerner, approached a group of sophomores standing around on the campus, and asked: "Can y'all tell me where the library's at?" One of the sophomores looked down his nose at the freshman and replied: "Here in Yale, we don't end sentences with a preposition." The freshman thought for a moment and said: "Can y'all tell me where the library's at, asshole?"
  24. Good review Evil, I thoroughly recommend Valley View for its really high standard of food at reasonable prices, the onlydownside being that the distance from Patts makes frequent visits impossible. Well worth going occasionally though, followed by a trip down the road to Ban Chang for .. er.. dessert.
