Took a baht bus from northern Naklua and down Beach Road to get to Soi Diana last night at 9.30 pm. Everyone on the bus got soaked by young yobbos (farang and Asian, I think Korean but not Thai as far as I could tell) at the northern end of Beach Road as far as the Klang intersection. I'd been out on the sois in the afternoon and had fun because I was kitted out to be soaked - but after dark when I'm going out for a good meal and a beer or two, it's a f*cking nuisance and makes me bloody angry. Glad when it's over, seems to get more disrespectful and over the top each year. Rant over.

Doesn't sound like he's being disruptive, just standing his ground. Being of similar age, I'd be utterly indignant and probably very disruptive of their plans.

Turns out this unfortunate 69(!) year-old grandfather is a medical specialist with 5 children, four of whom are themselves doctors. In other words, a person of some consequence. No doubt he was upset at being coerced into leaving the plane. But to call the cops and beat an old man bloody and unconscious for asserting himself is an outrage beyond belief, and reflects badly on the state of things in (sadly) police-state USA. I hope this costs the airline and possibly police a packet, the lawyers must be lining up to represent the victim.

In my experience the British embassy requires hard evidence of the income, and states the figures in the letter of confirmation. No way will they just accept your word for it. Party-poopers!

Barcode: Turkish restaurant on 3rd street
Bushcraft replied to Gabor's topic in Restaurants and food
It's about 400 yds on the right as you go from Klang and Nua, next to a large Kasikorn bank. -
Call me a cynic, and yes, there are no doubt substandard guest houses around, but isn't this a prime opportunity to force even "non-quality" tourists into the monstrous new hotels that have sprung up for busloads of Chinese, funded without doubt by big money investors? Funny, I always look for the money motive when I hear about planned changes in Thailand - certainly not for 'elf and safety concerns.

Just fantastic, I'm so proud of our UK athletes. Size of population is not the deciding factor when it comes to individual and team prowess, but boy does our little country punch above its weight. Always has, actually my dear Watson.

"Take that Johnny Foreigner" - Teresa May shows her humorous side!
Bushcraft replied to Fatboyfat's topic in Funnies Section
The triumvirate appointed by Mrs May to head the FO, Bexit negotiations and Britain's trade (elsewhere than with the EU, I suppose) is a very formidable lineup. The danger lies in them possibly having unclear powers and responsibilities, something that the PM must avoid at all costs. They must work together, regardless of future ambitions and egos. I think Teresa will be careful to ensure this, as she sinks if they are seen to squabble and fall short. -
Dunno really, place is officially open until 2 am. There was hardly anyone there when we left at 10.30, so after 11 I guess. Maybe Cerberus can offer a suggestion.

The Sun and Daily Mail far outsell the Mirror, suggesting they also have a larger readership (?). -
A big thumbs-up for this place. I took my girl Em there for the first time last night, arriving at around 9.30 which was much too early. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the food delicious and quick to arrive. For the first time ever in a restaurant, Em asked if we could go again, as she loved the food. The bill for two was 1040 Baht for tom yam talay, chicken wings and a prawn dish with rice plus two large Leos and two Schweppes. Very reasonable for the quantity and quality. Highly recommended, but go much later than we did if you want music and atmosphere.

A joke masquerading as a newspaper is doing the UK no favours by undermining a new Foreign Secretary in this way. -
Many of us watching were stricken with disbelief when England once again proved clueless - they rarely fail to disappoint when it counts. No imagination, no idea what to do, passing the ball around in the hope that somebody else will come up with something - horrible to watch. Well done Iceland, a well-deserved win against a lacklustre bunch of overpaid sluggards.

Someone's bound to want to make dough out of this!

Her body was writhing and she was moaning and calling my name ... I clearly wasn't pressing down on the pillow hard enough.

I suggest Skyline would be the perfect name for your rooftop place. I'll be in to sample Bite Me soon, you're just down the road from the house.

British pensioners arrested and detained in Pattaya
Bushcraft replied to MM's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
The lunatics are in charge of the asylum. What an appalling overkill and lack of judgement to storm these premises mobhanded and then even arrest people peacefully playing Bridge, the king of card games and a huge source of pleasure for many. -
Where Can I Find Licorice?
Bushcraft replied to rmicheald's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
You can buy packs of the German Haribo brand licorice from e.g. Friendship, if I remember correctly. -
