  1. Mate of mine has been lurking at the local motocy auction. He's noted as the number of farangs in attendance has increased, so have the prices paid. Yes, I know we're all shocked "Went to the m/bike auction on Thepprasit road today. Last time I went, there were about 80 people of which 20 were farang - with prices pretty reasonable. This time it was about 80 people of which 50 were farang and not surprisingly the prices were much higher. One dozy sod paid 41k + 7% + 2k costs total 45,870 baht for a second hand Nouvo." -redwood
  2. I think he's on a 2 or 3 entry tourist visa. And his latest 60 day "admitted until" date is 31 Dec., so he wants to obtain an extension of stay for an additional 30 days. -redwood

  4. Appears we're a captive audience here in Thailand. Bangkok to California is almost always substantially more expensive than vice versa. -redwood
  5. Brithish Airways - Spraying the Cabin Looks as if they're trying to stop the introduction of the Asian Tiger Mosquito (Aedes albopictus) into the UK. It's a vector for dengue fever as well as several other viruses. We are required by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to spray the aircraft cabin at certain destinations to prevent the risk of insects spreading highly dangerous disease, such as malaria and dengue fever. On routes where we are required to spray, cabin crew will read out a brief statement advising you that spraying is about to take place. This will give you the opportunity to cover your eyes and nose if you wish. The spray clears from the aircraft in a few minutes. Contents of the insecticides The sprays contain synthetic pyrethroids, which are widely used in sanitation products. The WHO assesses the safety of insecticides and recommends the use of the following synthetic pyrethroids: * D-phenothrin, which has lethal effects on domestic insect pests. It is used against mosquitoes, houseflies and cockroaches. * Permethrin, which is a broad spectrum insecticide used against a variety of pests. N.B. Aircraft entering Australia and New Zealand need to be sprayed twice - initially with Permethrin residual insecticide and then with a Phenothrin spray. -redwood

  7. More likely that you've reached an age where your metabolism can no longer deal with the amount of sodium most of us consume every day (or in my case did consume). Examples: crisps, bacon, ham, fish and chips, soy sauce, nam pla, canned goods, restaurant meals and on and on. -redwood

  9. I went through 3 cheap chairs in 4 years, so cheap isn't really the way to go if your chair gets a lot of use. The last one died and could have led to a bad injury to me when one of the back legs snapped and I was thrown backward onto the floor. Just missed hitting my head on a table. The average chair here isn't built for a 200 pounder(90kg). I've been using a chair I bought at the place you mentioned next to Office Depot. It's called Modernform. The one I got was on sale at around 7K and is based roughly on the Herman Miller Aeron Chair. I've got a bad lumbar disc and it's been OK with this chair. I think they have sales a couple of times a year with very good mark-downs on regular stock. You might go back and ask them when their next sale is on. -redwood
