I wouldn't expect any rise in fees as a proof of insurance letter shouldn't be hard to obtain, if you get my drift.

I'm surprised they didn't already extend the insurance requirement to those on extension to stay. From a govt perspective it makes sense to require aliens in their country to provide proof of insurance so as not to be financial burden on their health care system. But in Thailand's case it's pretty clear they want to feed that business to their own insurance companies, but the Thai insurance companies are offering overpriced policies with limits that are, IMHO, inadequate. As sailingbill just posted, you can opt to use a non-Thai insurance company, but documentation required is over the to

Can you not get another re-entry permit that would be good up to the expiration date of visa? As for the more onerous requirements for extension to stay, after nine years of doing it myself I used an agent for the first time last week. If immigration's goal is to push more people to using agents, it worked in my case.

learned from the accidents about metal fatigue due to pressurization and depressurization cycles. It's tragic that sometimes the learning curve results in deaths.

What internet and T.V.?
forcebwithu replied to marleyboy's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I'm quite happy with True. Just had them switch me over to fibre for the same monthly cost. Service is 100 DL, 100 UL at 640.93/month incld taxes. Can't offer a recommendation for TV as I survive just fine w/o it. -
Hate it when someone tells a joke and forgets the punch line. When they got home, the mailman was dead on the porch.

Foreign Currency Deposit Account (Bangkok Bank)
forcebwithu replied to Blackwell's topic in Expat Issues
Best bet is to go to the BB main branch on 2nd Rd across from Soi 6. My experience, and from what others have reported is they're more familiar with dealing with expat questions, such as yours than the other, smaller branch offices. Regarding FD accounts, IIRC, a few have gone this route for the money in the bank requirement. Probably best to stop in at the immigration office and confirm they'll accept this type of account. -
USA Social Security DD to Bangkok bank. Anyone do it?

Suggest going to their main office on 2nd Rd, across from Soi 6. They'll have more experience dealing with Soc Sec direct deposits. -
Air quality is a lot better today even though the AQI is 69.

Got back from my bike ride just before the heavens opened up. It was a short lived thunderstorm, but the rain should help clean up the air a bit. Snapped this pic on my ride near the top of Khao Talo. A view I'm more used to seeing the end of December rather than near the beginning of October.

Think I'll have to practice breathing through my nose on my morning bike ride today.

My ride was late morning. At moderate levels the haze is noticeable if you have clear line of sight for a bit of distance. I noticed it as I was riding down the road that parallels the RR.

Central and East Pattaya (aka darkside).

Back from a bicycle ride and while my lungs weren't complaining my eyes were seeing a lot of haze in the air for this time of year. The AirVisual site confirmed what my eyes were seeing.

Easy R-Con open sewer project update. They're back... Can't see the guy, but there's a third worker bee down there in the drain line hammering away with a jackhammer. Seems to me it would have been better to take care of clearing the drain lines when the road was tore up, but then again, I'm not Thai so what do I know. -

They're finally getting around to repairing the broken boardwalk. About two years overdue on the repairs. -
Tree Town on Soi Bukhao

It's a shame Thanya Club didn't survive. Had one of the best bands in the area. I see a few of the band members are now playing at Nonnoi Bar at the rear of Tree Town. -
Your post would be a fair post if you had started it with what you wrote as your last sentence. As others have pointed out, Nam quoting a price that you don't want to pay doesn't make her dishonest. In fact she was doing you a favor by recommending an SUV for your group of three as that is what most people would choose if they're traveling with luggage.

One day later and I have to retract my post that they were finished with the Easy R-Con open sewer project. The workers are making a lifetime career out of this project, and giving us a lifetime worth of photo material. Another BM was asking about the state of the debris clogged drain. Still clogged. -

After six months of work, twice as long as planned for, the Easy R-Con open sewer project is finally done, at least until the first heavy rain. Photos of the entire project, beginning with the first photo taken on 28 February can be seen at this link. -

This site has a good listing of festivals, although I see it's missing the dragon boat races just held. https://www.thaizer.com/thailand-events-festivals/ You're in luck though with the buffalo races, assuming you're here in Oct. Chonburi Buffalo Racing Festival: 12th October 2019
