  1. I thought I'd make my way early to Central a couple of days ago.......I'd been promising myself a breakfast at Boat Bakery and so aimed to get there for about 10am...and go along to Central around 11. Parked, walked up to Boat Bakery.........Closed....... and only a shell left. I asked a Thai guy what was going on? He said, "They go Chang mai." I thought OK, it needs tarting up a bit......They are taking a holiday while the renovations are being done. "When will they be coming back?" "They go..... not come back." So...........RIP Boat bakery. Shame.
  2. Mostly looks good......I heard about this place from two gay blokes at my gym who swear by it. Must give it a try when I'm not in salad dodging mode....... As for 'EB' I've only had Eggs Benedict' once and that was at the Bourbon ST Hotel in Washington Square.......It was recommended as one of the best example to be had anywhere. Not my thing... Never wanted to ever try another one.
  3. This might entail road closures that affect me. Last year for one of these events I traveled about a mile to Rumpol for breakfast with the Orgasmootron in Kiss.......and it took me an hour and a half to get home via Bang Ampur and the Railway road the other side of Suk!!! Thanks for the heads up.
  4. I'm proud to say that I did a speed reading course and read the whole book in a day!!!! As you say ...'it's about Russia'
  5. Had to go to Numchai yesterday to buy a '1 cup hot water dispenser'...(great time and electricity saver)......and my little Yaris had to negotiate said 'ditch' with extreme care. Traffic was running smoothly on Suk' however and the 8th Wonder of the World did indeed look complete.
  6. A lot of great stuff posted in April....
  7. Thanks........... why don't they say that themselves.......? I've been having intermittent problems since yesterday.
  8. The Last Kingdom has been good.
  9. My mother taught me about hygiene. Outside the Drs 'Spit into my hanky and I'll wipe your face before we go in.....'
  10. A lot of Thai wives have n aversion to living in a box in the sky..... though the fact that a condo can be owned lock-stock and barrel by her husband I believe contributes to the aversion.
  11. I love stories with happy endings. Wild boars and now wild bar-ladies..... Not a good week for muslims.
  12. Jacko I recall has an internet speed issue..........Otherwise an android box is the way to go.
  13. Black Sails finished recently......... Worth a look. Sent me to the history books to read up on the historical characters mixed into the Long John Silver fiction. Might get round one day to reading 'Treasure Island' Thankfully the series spared us Billy Bones' first ever recorded rendition of 'Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum' but mixed history and fiction in a Flashman'esque way. Some sexy women too.
  14. Didn't want to start a new thread but thought our American cousins would have some interest in this.......... The American War of Independence was very much Britain's Vietnam. There was significant, even treasonable support in England for the 'rebels'...often in high places. Anyhow it's nice to see the preservation of an almost priceless document. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4434160/Second-copy-Declaration-Independence-found.html If you can't open the Mail still....... https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/21/arts/a-new-parchment-declaration-of-independence-surfac
  15. I watched a documentary recently.......I'll try and find it.......... It calibrated radiation counts into the amount there is in one banana.......and went from place to place describing the risks. Pretty high on the list were long haul flights..........2nd from the very top was the hospital basement at Priypat. That was where the brave men who cleaned up at the reactor were treated and the basement was where they discarded all their protective clothing. The top soil around the reactor has been taken away and the readings were now close to normal. Before you get concerned about any of t
  16. On the bus back from Ekamai.... missed the golden showers in both cities...... and hopefully the traffic.
  17. Pad pric gang gai ...... I think! I eat it often ..... could be some coconut in there.
  18. Apparently........Only heard this on TV a while ago. If First and Business is full.........the entire cattle section is profit. I'm on BA next month.......These posts have cheered me no end. 'Mooooo'
  19. Thank you. Where do they meet now? Both those sound interesting. I have a mate over but I'll get away on Sunday......and grab the info and run.
  20. Thanks it's likely the same plan as I renew in May. I was told last year it would be an individual insurance and that persons over 64 and a half couldn't join the group plan....We'll see.
  21. My only big expense is my 18 year old son........School fees....Flights over to him and flights for him to come here. Now he's on a gap-year and working as a barman in London.........(It's his half-Australian blood). Saving me a fortune. On a budget connected matter. I opened an account for myself last year to put money aside each month into my own health insurance. For the last 10 years I've been paying and never claiming on the Ex-Pats group health insurance. About 35,000 a year. Had I instead put that small amount away each year I'd have 350,000 in the bank. As I'm 65 this year I
  22. When Gawd Elpus said to me earlier this week; 'Why don't you just fuck off and die?' .......It did cross my mind that both things are certain to happen. The Fiend rightly says, 'enjoy every day as we never know when it all comes to an end'........Part of that enjoyment is not having to worry about money. I keep to a budget that is intentionally more than adequate. I physically draw out a month's money and divide it into equal daily amounts. If I overspend one day it will reduce the next day's spending.......Most often I underspend and that builds another nice pile of reserve m
