  1. I guess that I dont really care as the amount of rubbish on Pattaya Beach is horrendous now. I admit to occasionally taking a bag there and filling it up with glass and plastic etc. The only point that I would make is that this is yet another signal that smoking is a recognised health and environmental issue and that the walls are closing in world wide. Any smoker who cannot see this be it in his local pub, café, airport or place of work must be blind. Of one thing I think that we can all be sure and that is that it isn't going to get easier for smokers so the sooner they quit (or have a plan to quit) the better.
  2. Like many others will tell you, there is no wrong time to be in Thailand, especially Pattaya. Remember that the reason that so many people come to LOS at Songkran is that they enjoy the fun so that for every negative there will be a positive. As a personal thing for me its the so called, low season that suits me the best as I enjoy the lack of crowds in bars and clubs and the fact that prices are if not cheaper, are on hold and not inflated. In something like 40 trips to LOS I can honestly say that I never had a bad one as far as fun went. I was unlucky late last year when I got an eye infection and that slowed me down but hey, people wearing dark glasses in gogo bars and discos is quite acceptable in Pattaya so you can have fun any time.
  3. I wish any new business in Pattaya good luck but there are so many 100 baht places that IMHO think do a great job in Soi Buakhao. They are mainly beside "Suicide Corner " and not just on Buakhao but also up the side streets. For 200 baht in these places I expect the full treatment and a shampoo.
  4. No slapping whatsoever. What is the use of just sitting back and saying nothing. How does this help the incoming manager? Offering feedback is a positive way to help Patna come to grips with negatives that ruined the place. It was difficult to get a seat here and if I recall correctly it even opened upstairs in order to get the crowd in. There in no more fun place than one that is fully functioning. 5. I for one am optimistic and as said I will always give it a try even because of its great recent history. However, seeing as now is the time for negative comments offered in the spirit of getting things right I offer the following. Sitting down with a couple of guys a couple of weeks ago and discussing the place the one comment that was much to the forefront was criticism of the Mamasan. She certainly lost me after an exchange where the only thing I recall was something like this. " I am the Mamasan and I am expensive and if you want to deal with me then it will cost you a lot of money". For gods sake, I sure as hell didn't want to shag her.
  6. I sent you a message earlier but it seems not to have been posted. All I have to add is to wish you good luck. This was a must do place to visit but lost it's heart and soul. I was there a few weeks ago and a quick draft was all it deserved. Remember that it is rarely the girls that do anything wrong. It those who manage them. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  7. Well well. I like the fact that Bangkok has diversity and that there is some places for everyone even if we see it as a crazy. Mind you I see that they welcome animal lovers. Is this shorthand for some devious sexual behaviour? Any place where you can take a dog but not a girl is IMHO suspect! Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  8. What a good post. This makes sense and explains things. Thanks
  9. I would also like to know how hotels justify a joining fee if you book for two people. This has only once happened to me in Phuket and the reception sat me down and made me sign a document stating that I would pay 1000 baht for a joiner. It was sign or go looking in a strange place for other accommodation. It only happened once but it did happen. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  10. Thank you Mr. Egg Wherever did you hatch that video? In the mood I was in it was eggactly what I needed. Did Mr.Egg have to shell out for this video? OK, OK enough yolking. Thanks for the eggford.
  11. You conclude correctly. I can pay for it as an extra but still need phone and data when I am out and about. From now on I think that the 300 baht plan plus 100 baht for the odd phone call will suit me fine for a month in Thailand. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  12. I have been here for 12 days and in total used 3.1 gigs. Most of this is me using data for Hotspot for my laptop. For me the 1 m speed is adequate for everything I want, even YouTube. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  13. I simply wish that I understood the rules. All the airlines that I fly on tell me that I have to turn on flight mode or turn off the phone. The only exception for me has been Emirates which gave me a free sample and then wanted to charge me for the service. Perhaps this service is more made for people in the US?
  14. IMHO this reply just about covers it for me.
  15. Not sure of the quality of the US flights but last flight on a Chinese line for me was ho hum. My comment at the time was that they need a few years to get to understand what the Western traveller wants. Its not rotten entertainment, warm beer and forgettable food as well as the inevitable cramped seats.
  16. Hi there. No. You need a bit extra for the phone. This is for data. However if you are like me nearly all my calls now are on LINE or Weechat or whatever. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  17. In days past I would pay for internet as an extra at my hotel and add in a 1 gig package and use all the free sites that I could. It all got a bit messy and I lost interest. Add to this using the mobile hotspot to run my computer and it was all becoming confusing. I also use more data now because of a bit of youtube watching. The matter has now been resolved for me as follows. AIS have the following 30 day packages. Unlimited at 300 or full throttle unlimited at 450 baht. I took the slower package to try it out and have just watched a Youtube video on the laptop without problem and blips so it is OK for my needs. Here are the codes. *777*7153# for 1Mbps @300 baht or *777*7155# for up to 4 Mbps @450 baht. This is saving me real money and agitation.
  18. I guess that whatever the price the title of the topic says it all!
  19. I think that the Lek breakfast about 10 years ago was about 70 baht and it wasn't worth that at the time. Thanks for the update. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  20. Always a good read. Thanks for taking the time.
  21. You can get iboprofen 800 mg slow release. This is what I am using. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  22. ON the advice of another boardie I stared to take glucosamine 1500 and after a month I was fine but it relapsed about two months ago but I still take it and only have brief bursts of pain. For these times my doctor recommends ZOSTRIX but I am unsure if you can get it in Thailand. I got over three years of relief taking these. I am also taking a mixture of paracetamol 500 and ibuprofen 800 SR. These work well enough and I only take as I need. I asked the doctor for something stronger for those bad days and wow! She gave me Diclofinac 75 mg and these really work but as she points out the more effective the more potent and the more potential damage. Bottom line for me is that other than glucosamine I only use the others as I need and I always try to have food in my stomach first.
  23. Think about it this way. The rear entrance to the Areca is only 5 minutes from the Villa supermarket and a very good wine shop. It is always handy to have places like this on your door step.
  24. Just to add my opinion. If you can afford the Areca why bother moving? Seems that the location, facilities, ease of having a joiner etc makes this a good destination.
  25. One other thing about the D. It could be worth you while looking at the old part of the hotel. The rooms are not as flash but are big and I had one looking down to New Plaza. The problem for some is that there is no lift in the old part but if I recall the price was right but the crap pool, that was by the way closed for 'maintenance' half the time I was there was a deal breaker and I never went back.
