  1. I have in times past got a cheapie flight from Bangkok to Phom Pehn on Air Asia and then transferred onto the local airline direct to Siem Reap. Bus back from SR to PP and then back to Bangkok. This gives a good mix of travel types and you see some of the country as well. As a side issue I have never been to Cambodia and not spent some time in PP. I do like SR but it aint PP and there is a lot to do there as well, historically as well as sexually! If you really want to travel overland go to any travel agent in Pattaya and they will do the whole round trip for you including Angkor and accommodation. Its about 12000 baht for say a 3 or 4 day package.
  2. Thanks Tom. Just shows what a Luddite I am.
  3. Gasbor, who or what is FB?
  4. In a way this only adds to the strength of Pattaya as a holiday destination. I wish that when I was travelling to SR that there had been a lower cost option like this.
  5. I would like to make this one and look forward to being there.
  6. I always seem to notice a lot of what I take to be expats in the place.
  7. I rarely drink coffee in Pattaya but I make an exception with the Buakow market. On the tented side half way up on the rightside there is an indoor /outdoor place with great Danishes etc. I think that the coffee is 35 baht and similar for the pastries. Now that is what I call a good buy. In addition to this I can read the local news as papers are available and of course the people watching is great as well.
  8. The best way costs many times more than some of the other ways. It all depends on your budget, the time you want to spend in SR etc. More info will get you a more accurate answer.
  9. Sorry Tom. A sophisticated response but still "a long way from acuracy".
  10. I think that you have a jinx! Thats a pisser! Where have you booked to stay? As a matter of interest I think that there will be some good Halloween action on the 31st.
  11. Big D Big D. Where did you go so wrong. Skytops sponsorship was OK but when I found out that we were both shareholders in Starbucks, I was sad.My shares will be on te market in a week or so because your taste is questionable if you think a 100 baht in Pattaya is a good deal for mediocre coffee! t
  12. I dont klnow the exact answert but I will give it a try. Reasonable location. Reasonable prices. Good guest policy. Breakfast included. Monthly rate available. Pushed mercilessly by Addict members! We will all put up with a bit of crap all things being equal.Having said that I would also assume that a lot of people didnt go back for a second visit but there is no way of knowing. I did a room inspection a couple of years ago but it had nothing better than I could get elsewhere and stories about the thin walls have been with us for years.
  13. Whilst it wasnt me it might have been the same person that gave Grahamxxx a red one for daring to criticise the place? only stayed there once...the walls are paper thin and could hear the tv's from next door..won't stay there again This is typical of all topics concerning this place. Someone thinks that this post is worth a red minus point yet over the years many guests have complained about the same things. I will give him a tick beecause I believe that an honest answer should not be penalised. 0
  14. Excellent read. Fiction is stranger than the truth!
  15. As far as I am concerned I will keep putting the family jewels in my in room safe along with the lap top. I have however considered that if I were to travel to Laos and possibly Cambodia again I would buy a small strong box to have put in the hotel safe. Most of the rooms I had in Laos had no in room safe and it feels a bit silly wrapping your cash, passport and whatever in a plastic bag for safe keeping. I have seen small boxes just suitable for this sort of thing including some with a combination lock. Just a thought and perhaps also suitable as a second line of defence in Pattaya where you have a lock box rather than an in room safe.
  16. Last time I went there with a Thai girl I had some reasonable Thai food and she had the fish and chips! Go figure. We both finished our meals but this was first for me.
  17. There are a few ways to see this. A couple of years ago there was a great U Tube video of opening a cheap safe with a potato. The reality for most of us is that we will never have our rooms rifled and it would be hard luck if it ever happened. I have been staying at the same hotel for a couple of years now and they know me and all my bad habits. I dont think that anyone would be given a key because of this. I dont have the option of a lock box at reception but even if I did I would still use the in room safe which is behind a well locked door and at night while asleep is still locked and the door of the room has a safety device as well. For most of us this is a nil worry because we have no viable options.
  18. I posted this elswhere yesterday. In response to a couple of questions yesterday, I got this email back from Mr T and am posting it as I believe that its good general interest information. 20. Whilst I have not yet recieved any change of airport from Tiger yet I sort of expect it. In anticipation I emailed Mr T for a quote and he has come back with DM to Pattaya 1200 Baht. I will also post this on the Mr T thread.
  21. There you have it. New owners and major construction and "...will continue to be my first choice.." .and " I will continue to recommend it" This precisely the point that I make. I avoid the place as much for its short comings as those that contiue to sell the unsellable. Why recommend a place that you have not stayed in for yonks!

  23. The crux of the matter for me is that Pattaya allows you to pick and chose each and every night. This is something that I have totally no control over in Farangland (unless I re-marry) and I am very happy to have this choice. I have also read here that A lot of guys like a shag and then sleep alone. I on the other hand really enjoy the cuddling up stuff as well so bottom line, as ever, up to you!
  24. Greetings Adam. Sorry to miss. See you next month.
  25. Thanks Tom. I am flying Tiger on 25th of October. I have not been advised but it seems sure I will have to change airport. Bugger!
