In some areas of Houston it has rained much more than the factoid quoted and in some areas less. If there is any difference in this storm it's that the rain has fallen longer and over a wider spread area. Visionary you are not. We can agree to disagree about clever but it was stereotypical Wac. Harvey has already been downgraded and here in Houston we are expecting a lot less rain and spread over about a week although there will be some localized flooding; it is much less severe than the floods of last year. There are some normal tangential tornado offshoots but otherwise seems as Houston dodged a bullet this time.

It's the rain/flooding of most concern especially since Harvey is moving slowly and Houston is on the 'dirty' northeast side. Rule of Thumb is 100/MPH of storm yields amount of expected rainfall. Since Harvey is moving 3 - 4 MPH we're expecting 30 inches of rain in H-town between today and next Wednesday.

Harvey will landfall in Texas rather than Lousyana. Texans tend to be more responsible, self-sufficient and less reliant on the Feds for help. But then they also tend to be Republicans.

Maybe they can layout the Biathlon course to go by Pyongyang and take out L'il Kim.

Sounds logical, but other than crossing 2nd Road on foot in Pattaya, the more significant health risks to most farang dabbling in 'unprotected' sex is Hep B, warts and other viruses. HIV is relatively hard to catch but Hep B is endemic in Thailand and most of SE Asia and the majority of natives are exposed to it because inoculations against it are not common. 95% of those that get Hep B shake it off but for the remaining 5% it is a chronic infection and eventually like Hep C destroys the liver in many. So even if you persist in Listerine dousing, make sure your Hep B shots are up to date.

You might want to change your methodology with the Listerine. Not only does it not kill HIV and other STD nasties it actually makes things easier for most of them as it is an irritant to the skin and like open wounds is a highway to hell pathway for the enemy. As long as there are no cuts, bleeding gums, etc., the body's own saliva is a much better defense against HIV than any over the counter self medication.

My experience is that it's not all that much, 1% for credit card fee and if you have a JetStar branded Master Card there is no fee. Checked Baggage fee is nominal if you declare/arrange it on booking, similar with seat selection. It would be surprising if it totaled more than another $100. But if you wait until check-in to realize you need Baggage and subject yourself to Excess Baggage Fees then you deserve the reaming you are going to get.
