  1. Softrabbit There is a possibility that I will have a business trip to Thailand during the dates you have mentioned. If it comes off, I plan to go to Pattaya and play some golf for a few days. I wont be making a decision until about 12th January so it will be a last minute trip if I do it. If I get there, I will be pleased to join you for some golf and to introduce you to the courses. There is some information about the courses on The Solar Golf website I hope we can meet up. Please feel free to pm me or use the contact link on the web site. Cheers Doggie
  2. Great pics Deuce. Thanks for taking the trouble to post them. It was a successful day and I hope that the Kittens Open will be a regular event on the golfing calendar. If Robert wants me to organise it again in 2005, I will be pleased to oblige. As Dungheap says, it seems like ages ago. Roll on April when we a bunch of us will be back in town. Doggie
  3. Dungheap is probably not a good choice as a golf partner for your Father in Law. He has a bad habit of asking the caddy to remove some bark from his tree! However, if you are looking for someone to keep the flies away from the other players then he's your man! I informed your FIL that he can borrow my clubs when he is in Pattaya. They are at the offices of CoCo Golf. Just send me an email if he wants them and I'll let Simon know. Please check the bag before you hand it over. I can't remember if I packed the Clitty Kit and the Big Ben vibrator in the golf bag or my travel bag! Would be
  4. abcd You can check luggage at the airport in BKK and I am sure this will include golf clubs. The luggage deposit booth is on the departures level between International terminals 1 and 2. I usually leave mine at my hotel - most hotels will keep them for you if you are a regular customer. Doggie
  5. Steve O I know that you belive in good luck. There was a serious improvement in your game after you collided with that elephant's arse on Second Road! Cheers Doggie
  6. Hub I will be arriving in BKK on 29th March with our bowls tour. I get to Pattaya on 1st April so I should be able to break loose during the day for a few rounds of golf with you. I wont be able to go to Chiang Mai on that trip because I am locked in to our tour programme. I have a group of golfers arriving on 10th April to do a tour to Pattaya, Kanchanaburi and BKK. If you want to play some golf in Chiang Mai, I can fix this for you with Simon. Just give me the dates and I'll put you in touch with him. I am thinking about organising a Chiang Mai trip after the RideHer next November. T
  7. Hi Tony You can find some information about the courses on my web site Solar Golf website I am not in Pattaya in December but please send me an IM if I can help you with organising some golf. I work with a golf tour operator based in Pattaya who can rent you clubs and will organise tee times and transport to and from the courses. As a rough guide, green fees are between 1000 and 2000 baht per round plus a caddy fee of between 200 and 300 baht. I would recommend the following courses: Phoenix Sriracha Khao Kheow Burapha Laem Chabang - more expensive Eastern Star There a
  8. Well done with the report Hub. It brings back a lot of fine memories and gets me thinking about planning the next golfing trip. I had forgotten all about Hans getting his fingers trapped in the doors of the pick up truck! We were all in the cab nursing hangovers and we thought that Hans was singing as he stood up in the back with his hands either side of the cab doors. "Strange guy that Hans - must have enjoyed the Titanic movie" we thought as we watched him with the wind blowing through his hair and his mouth opening and shutting as the tears ran down his face. Little did we know he was s
  9. Millwall The fares usually start to drop from mid April to end June flights so you should be able to get a deal. I would suggest you wait till January before booking as the promotions will probably start then. The cheapest direct flights from UK are Phuket Air ex Gatwick. From LHR, you should be able to get a deal on Eva for £450 or less. I recommend West East Travel in Hammersmith. They get good rates with both TG and Eva and I am sure they are now selling Phuket Air as well. Doggie
  10. Good questions Hub. I reckon that if your team has their mulligan left for that nine, you can use it if you don't like the shot that you were forced to play as a reverse mulligan. I have decided that each team will get 2 mulligans per 9 for 100 baht per mulligan. I will have the vouchers available at sign in. This is better than 2 per player per nine. One can be used on the tee box and one on the course (exc tee box and green). This means that if you have not used your mulligan before the 9th, you only have one available on the tee box for one of the players. You play your mulligan
  11. Great response Leemo! It is a bitch getting out of that rough next to the ladies tee before you hit double figures! Especially with your trousers round your ankles - I speak from bitter experience. Any chance you can make it over on 8th November - the USA are a bit short of players. Cheers Doggie
  12. OK - I will book for you. Are you going to play in the Kittens Open on 5th November? Please let me know asap. I will book you some hire clubs at Pattata CC for this event if you are playing in it. Kind regards Doggie
  13. Saigon I don't know the answer to that. However, there are a few of us in town from 31st October so you are welcome to join in with us for a few rounds. We are playing Sriracha on Monday 1st and then we will probably play Phoenix later in the week. Kittens Open is at Pattaya CC on Friday 5th November. If you send me an IM, I will reply with my Thai mobile number. Cheers Doggie
  14. Leemo Yes there is a high handicappers bar in Pattaya - it is called the FLB! However, there aren't regular groups going out from there. If you want to join a relaxed group, you could go out with the group from Sugarshack on Soi Pattayaland 2. They are friendly guys and would be patient with high handicappers. Cheers Doggie
  15. Mr Bin Liner I am pleased to tell you that Mr Ben of FLB will be required to join the USA on stage. The Oscar winning actor Ronaldo had been holding diving lessons at Old Trafford and the young boy Rooney was playing close attention. His drop in the penalty area was worthy of a gold medal and was enough to ensure that the mighty Arsenal did not make 50 games unbeaten. I am sure a number of people will make sure that Mr Ben pays his penance. Doggie
  16. Dear Mr Bin Liner I think your demands are perfectly reasonable so I will be surprised if the USA were not to agree! Mr Glen will respond I am sure! However, if the almighty Arsenal were to lose their 50th record game to the MANCHESTED UNITED I am sure the Mr Ben of FLB will join them on the stage. But, if the MANCHESTER UNITED lose to the Arsenal, we will expect the Mr Bin Liner to be on stage alone with the kit round the ankles and the trophy safe on the bar. I need your urgent agreement to these terms before 4 pm on Sunday 24th October! Doggie
  17. To all RideHer players If anybody needs to hire clubs at Sriracha for the RideHer Cup, can you please post here by 27th October so that I can reserve them for you. I need to know whether you need left or right handed. Even if you have told me already, please post again so that I have a definitive list. Thanks Doggie ps The bus will stop en route to the course for those of you that need to buy golf balls
  18. Ashboy is spot on. The whole idea of Stableford is that it speeds up play. In your case, as soon as you have taken 3 shots more than the par for the hole and have not holed out, you can't score any points so you should pick up your ball. That is good sportsmanship. In a medal competition, you need to hole out at every hole and record the gross score - evn if it is double figures. If you pick your ball up, you are deemed to have scratched from the competition. Hope that helps. Doggie
  19. Hi Tom We are really sorry that you can't make it this year. Sorry to hear about the whiplash but I did warn you in advance about that ladyboy! Next time you upgrade Windows, please tell them not to sell you the Finnish Spellchecker again. We will try to take some pictures to show you what you are missing - get well soon. Best wishes. Doggie
  20. Alan Here is a link to the PSC page about theBowling Green Dungheap I thought you were flying out at 7.30 pm? Plenty of time for early afternoon frolics! Doggie
  21. For those of you in town for the RideHer Cup If any of you would like to play lawn green bowls, the Pattaya Bowling Green have extended an invitation to play at their club on Tuesday 9th November. They have a great little club in the centre of Pattaya with proper grass and a brick clubhouse with bar and restaurant facilities. Kevin and Dave - the two guys who run it - have invited us to play there on the afternoon of 9th November. They suggest we start around 4pm when the heat starts to reduce and then continue into the early evening under floodlights. Some of the members will join in
  22. FF29 As you know, the groupings and order of play are totally in the hands of the Captains. Traditionally, the captains write down their groups and the order in which they play and it is only when they are put together that we know who plays whom. I can let you into a little secret though - I have to play in the last group because I am the organiser. Up to your captain if he wants to take advantage of that piece of information! One word of warning, I will have been in Thailand for more than a week so no guarantee that I will have any clean underpants left! And I have neve
  23. Hilly Thanks for the advance notice. I really hope that you will be able to play - the numbers are nicely poised at 10 a side right now and you are a key member of the team. However, I fully understand if something critical has come up in the UK. Are you still OK for the Kittens Open on 5th November? You also indicated that you might be interested in the Kanchanaburi trip the following week - please let me know if you want me to book you a room. I'll keep my fingers crossed that things work out OK. You are my leading bet for shortest drive! Doggie
  24. FF29 I stand here humbled and totally corrected! Please pass on my apologies to the cash cow. And I thoroughly deserve to have my photo posted as attrition for my sin! Doggie
  25. Good questions Dungheap. When you have chosen the ball to play, the player whose ball has been chosen must play first. Before he/she plays, the position of the ball should be marked by placing a tee in line with the ball within 1 club length. The player hitting first may not interfere with his/her own ball in any way - it must be played where it lies. The second player must then place his/her ball as near as possible to the first player's ball without getting in a worse lie. eg - if the first player has taken a divot with his/her shot, the second should not have to play from the divot
