I am at home and notice my phone needs topping up - the wife is at her shop - so I contact her via the landline . She goes to her friend's mobile shop and a few minutes later my mobile goes beep and I am topped up . No problem !

Many machines right in front of 7-11 to use and they are in English

I think it is a 5 Baht commission. Some you can use currency and others are coin only, but they are easy to use

Avoid a MyPay machine, as it will give you a "Baht back receipt", if you put in over the amount

But.....not many keep paper in the machine.. :clueless

There isn't a person here that hasn't done this at least once, usually the 1st time. Or if they haven't, they had someone local with them to do it. Yes it is easy to learn. Full disclosure,I found a clerk that was stocking shelves and politely asked her for help.

You touched on one of my hates. I absolutely hate it when a clueless fuck hands their phone to the 7-11 clerk to top up. It's dead easy to learn how to do and takes much longer than the three seconds you claim if the clerk does it. Very selfish act. Are you Russian by chance? They seem to be the worst offenders.

I often get the 7-11 girl to put my credit into the phone, and I have no qualms about it. I don't do it at a busy time, and I do give her a good tip for the effort.

I bought a Nokia CAP (cheap ass phone) at Tukcom, with a SIM and 100 Baht prepaid credit and the number taped to the back of the phone for me for 900 Baht.

the ladyboy clerk was very nice, converted to phone to English (the default menus are Thai) and tested a call to her phone.

One of the phone counters right at the top of the escalator to the immediate right. Very friendly and helpful.

Either a TG with me or the 7-11 clerks would top it up for me as needed because the slips they gave me from AIS were all in Thai. And a TG or 7-11 clerk can add minutes to a phone is 3 seconds flat.

Did her/him/it call back?

I remember the first time I bought phone time at the 7-11 or Family Mart. I got a receipt with a bunch of numbers on it. It took me a while to figure out what to do, but now I know. Next time I'm back I'm going to figure out how to do it online from my Thai bank account.

Easy to set up with Bangkok Bank....... then takes only seconds to Top-Up from a smart phone.

Back in the good old days they gave you a scratch off card. You could get 50, 100, 300 or 500 baht cards. Now you get a tiny piece of paper with even tinier writing on it.

Now there is a phone shop next to the local grocery store. I stop in there, hand them my phone and however much money I want to put in. They call a number with their phone and BINGO, done.

Not difficult with Kasikorn either. If you are in a big hurry, a 200 baht top up can be done without the OTP step.

I have mentioned this before but it is a handy tip. If you want to keep your number and want a long term top up go to the AIS office in Central Plaza. Talk to the nice lady and she will show you how to use the top up machine. For every ten baht you put in you can extend the life of your sim by one month. I think that in May I extended till October.

Same same BKK Bank(no OTP needed). There is a selection of amounts to top-up. I tend to do a True and my AIS top ups at the same time and marvel at the simplicity of it.
