    New TM6

Never mind 'new' TM6 card, the aim is to eliminate them. As part of the new system, the Immigration Bureau will cancel the use of the Immigration 6 form and instead use e-passport data, Kongcheep said. Foreigner database to be ready in six months. The Nation.

If I get into any discussion with someone over 'Retirement Visas', my first question is to ask whether they mean a Visa or an Extension. Then we know what we are talking about and I can be accurate, they are starkly different. The fact that Thai Immigration, Visa Consultants and most Expats use the wrong terminology is simply what it is, like many people write bath when they mean baht, or quite when they mean quiet, or visa when they mean versa (sic)!
  7. It is a long time since the regulation came out requiring bars to have CCTV for security purposes. There has not been, that I have heard. any further checks on places to ensure they are maintained, shit even City Hall can't keep it's own system around town up and running. City council Chairman Anan Ankanawisan Dec. 1 estimated that half the city’s cameras are broken and have been for years The old saying in my Engineering background was, if it works don't fix it. In Thailand that has been shortened to don't fix it.
  8. Residence Garden or Nova Park were always my choice but that is a long time ago. Used to get a monthly deal inclusive of utilities and cleaning. Give us a few ideas like what are you looking for, location and expected price range.
  9. I didn't want to be overly negative about the place but 2 midweek visits by me over the last month have been a waste of my time and money, yet standing room only in Windmill. For a place that in my mind charges a lot for bottled beers and LDs it needs to keep the standards up.

    re entry

Yes, in the older days I always got a multiple soon after renewing the extension, and duly arrive soon after they opened. It became apparent I was just making life hard for myself as there are plenty of people who live closer and can get up earlier than me! Now it is midweek, no recent holidays, and at about 10am. I also do my extension early to avoid the peak season time... I know you pick Christmas day. When the Jomtiem place opened it was to a bit of a fanfare, but it soon became rather small for the needs! I am still amazed people even bother to try and turn into soi 5 from Beach Rd or Second Rd in trucks and cars only to get stuck on the street!

    re entry

Yes I was expecting that comment. But of course one is expected to complete the forms truthfully, you even sign to certify the above statements are 'true and correct'.... I have not had the issue you did, did you arrive late in the morning or afternoon?

    re entry

As a late after thought along these lines, when living here on an extension, one has to get 'permission' to leave and return, ie a Re-Entry permit. Not only that, on the form you use, TM 8, they want to know where you are going ,when, and when will you return. Seems intrusive.... Still must say today's visit to immigration not so bad, in at 10.05, out at 10.35 with a Re-Entry Permit and completed 90 day reporting. Busy in there, no where to sit or even stand while waiting, but things got done swiftly.

There is no such Visa as a marriage visa. There are Non-Imm O Visas that you can get based on marriage to a Thai, and 'extensions' to those. I guess you mean an Extension. As said before, without the Re-Entry Permit that would be cancelled on leaving the country.

You obviously have not met the immigration lady who educated me, then you might do as you were told!

Actually I similarly learned that I was required to do this by a school-marm like immigration lady officer on coming into Thailand many years ago. I felt suitably scolded, informed and never forgot since!

It is on the one sitting on my desk waiting for me to get my ass over to immigration (TM8), and on the half dozen or so stamps in my passport.

Perhaps it isn't specifically designed for those with extensions. Actually it is called a RE-ENTRY Permit.
  24. FBWY... With True service, I know when to press the 1 (or is it 2) to get English, but I frequently have to call 2-3 times to get the procedure correct. I have my service number handy, but once I get through to an English speaking person, they always seem to have it already tied with my phone number. If I get an English recorded message, telling me of service interruptions, I usually take it no further as there is no point. Often these interruptions can be most of the afternoon. That said I haven't had one for a spell and was streaming fine yesterday afternoon. I do like that when I get an English speaking service telephone person, they really do speak English, well. That is refreshing here. They are in Bangkok of course! I used to have TOT ADSL and after their shit, all looks fair with True, although getting an issue sorted over Songkran last year was tough.
