Careful, we're going off-topic.... accyboy was enquiring about Bunion surgery in Thailand..... Prior to being offered treatment at a private hospital, but funded by the NHS I was actually starting to think about getting the injections done in Thailand... I would have to pay of course, but at least I would get the treatment...... It's hilarious that the cost of my treatment is a fraction of the cost to the UK taxpayers who still have to pay my salary when I get signed off sick due to the back pain...... the company I work owned by and funded by the UK government

The NHS in the UK is becoming a joke at the moment...... For the last 4 years I've been having injections in my lower back to ease lower back pain.... Been diagnosed with 2 badly bulging discs, one prolapsed disc and also facet joint arthritis..... earlier this year I was told funding had been withdrawn for those type of injections. After a visit to my GP to seek advice about what can be done 2 months later I am told attend an appointment at a Private hospital as the NHS were willing to fund my treatment at a private hospital, but they won't fund it at an NHS hospital... Private hospital wants to do another MRI scan on my back.... I've already had one recently but this private hospital is going to charge the NHS for another one.... Ker-ching!!! My mother is going through a similar experience with a badly needed hip replacement..... they referred her to another private hospital... Instead of ensuring NHS funds are spent within the NHS it is being wasted paying for treatment provided by private healthcare companies.

That's what I do every trip. We use my mobile as a hot-spot when up at our house.

She tried to enter on an expired Swedish passport and when that was refused she suddenly produces a valid Iranian one.... They only offered her entry for 96 hours which would have meant her having to pay the cost of changing flights for her and her daughter.... That's probably the point at which she lost her temper........ Interesting that it took so long for the papers to pick up on the story as it happened on the 13th July....

Many years ago there was a reality TV series in the UK about Easyjet...... some travelers on that series on that program exhibited holier than thou attitudes if they turned up late for check-in or turned up without the right documents..... Plenty of Brits believe rules don't apply to them. A spin-off series was done in the U with Southwestern Airlines....

Visas don't give automatic right of entry..... the final decision is up to the Immigration Officer stamping the Passport... Bad idea to start arguing with an Immigration Officer anywhere in the world, and not just Dubai.

Considering the incident happened July 13th I'm surprised it took so long for the "news" to hit the British press...... It's good that the UAE authorities have now dropped all charges and allowed her to fly home..... Perhaps she will be more careful in future.

Wrong, I haven't picked a side, just illustrating how the press sensationalise articles..... Notice how the fact that she is a Swedish national has been missed out on most of the articles. She made a big mistake in deciding to film the immigration official. If she had stayed calm she could have used the argument it was Emirates responsibility to fly them back to the UK as they allowed her to fly with an invalid visa. She wouldn't qualify for Visa on Arrival with a Swedish passport.

As always totally one sided reporting by the Daily Fail... She tried to enter Dubai without a valid visa so no doubt got snotty with the immigration official when refused entry and then started filming immigration official..... bad idea!!!
