World Airline Awards

Recommended Posts

The below lnk is to the World Airline Awards which were recently announced. The top 5 in order are

1 - British Airways

2 - Qantas (huh?)

3 - Cathay Pacific

4 - Thai Airways

5 - Emirates

Was really surprised to find Qantas at number 2. I try to avoid them as much as possible. And Thai Airways at number 4 was also a bit of a shock.

Chivas   :D

You put that pretty well.

I couldn't understand BA being up there but then went to the site and saw that their 'premium service' passengers rated them well. True, their Club and First class are very good.

I guess they didn't survey any of the 100,000 BA passengers stranded on August 12, 2005.

Do you ever wonder if a little money changes hands on these "awards"?

If Singapore Air isn't in the top 5, if not number 1, there is something

seriously wrong with the process.

Emirates, too, are appalling nowadays in comparison to what they were 15 odd years ago ! (Especially biz class, which is archaic)

Oh I thought the biz class on Emirates was pretty good. Well the in-flight entertainment was slick, and the electric seats were fun. Although about 80% of them had packed in about an hour into the flight. :3some

The BKK - DBX leg was better than the DBX-MAN, and despite being only 1/2 way along the rows we were down to 2 choices of meal, both chicken. I told them if all they could offer me in business class was chicken they could stick it! They found me an alternative.

I can get grumpy on long hauls! :drunk

But yeah....not quite the VIP treatment I got on my first Emirates biz class flight when they were real new to the world.

Down this part of the world TG is highly considered after Singapore cos to get to Asia we only have a few carriers from NZ, Aust would have a few others

Thai

Singapore

Malaysian

Air NZ

Qantas

Malaysian

Cathay

Emerites

No Eva, Qatar, Sandanavian, Luthansa etc etc

Air NZ is soon to become one of the few airlines that truly goes around the world.

They currently fly Auckland/Lax/London and Auckland/San Fran and Auckland HongKong but are about to commence Auckland/HK/London so they will fly around the world west-east but also east-west.

FWIW Floyd I reckon on NZ being one of the very best, just behind South Africa, at the moment for Biz/First travel. Probably a bit expensive tho' if you have to fork out for it yourself. The change of route (ditching LAX) from UK is a godsend. The ridiculous septic visa regs for transit pax were proving a nightmare for us.

I've flown a lot of airlines and SQ is head and shoulders above the rest especially back in the cheap Charley seats. Would I fly anyway else. :hairout

Sure if they give me a free upgrade.

I drive a cab here and our company has the contract to drive Air NZ pilots to and fro Wellington Airport.

The pilots tell me with delivery of new long range planes air NZ might recommence BKK through Singapore.

Im flying AKL-BKK-Manila round trip award biz class return in two weeks on Thai.

AKL-BKK now has lie flat seats in biz.

Yes, Singapore Air should be up there. I have flown almost everything and SQ is tops when it comes to cattle class  The flight attendants are the sexiest in the world - no contest. :3some

Cathay is a close second for the Pacific routes, followed by JAL , IMHO.

Another really good one is LAN Chile. The friendliest service in the air, but they mostly fly in the Americas. Last time I flew with them I was upgraded to biz class just because they had a couple of extra seats - that doesn't happen too much anymore. In cattle class the liquor flows throughout the flight, they even hand out full bottles of wine at dinner time, the full size bottles, not the microbottle BS. They give you a glass with ice and your drink in the can/bottle, no BS 4 oz plastic cups.

Cant understand the award list myself

I chose:

1)Singapore

2)Cathay

3)JAL

4)Mayalsian

Notice all are with asian stewardess as they are more open to service with a smile while alot of the non- asian stewardess gives you the WTF you want look.

I am only referring to the service and not what drinks/foods are served as some other airlines do have better food--IMO

These awards are a joke. :D

I've flown on the supposed "top 4" and Singapore Air pisses on them all, no contest.

Last year flew Thai Air Sydney-BKK and it was fcukin' boring, service ordinary.

Terrible entertainment.

My dream is a harem of Singapore girls, most of whom are Malaysian actually. :drunk

I luv em. :D

chico, simple dog :D

I think you have it about right. They must have gotten tired of giving the award to the same airline year after year.

My experience is BA and Quantas are a bag of shit.Serious lack of personable staff and shit food and treated like paupers in economy class.

My top 3

1) Thai

2) Qatar

3) Lufthansa.

From the UK to Thailand a few of us are switching to ETIHAD AIR in the coming months ( that's about a dozen seats) due to good reports AND lowest prices.
