Good places for lunch

Recommended Posts

Which places would the esteemed members (and also the rest of the members) recommend to have lunch with a female friend. We are not (and will not become) intimately involved so I don't need to impress anyone but at the same time I would like a nice ambience and decent quality of food.

I'm fond of Burger King at the Royal Garden Shopping Center. If you sit outside there's a nice view of the ocean. :D

"Nice" is so subjective. The Pig & Whistle on Soi 7 certainly has good food, and I like the ambience.

Nang Nual is good, although better for dinner. It's best out on the deck, and the deck can be pretty warm at lunch.

Frankly, for a female lunch, I'd go to a hotel. Dusit is reliable, or go up the hill and eat at Royal Cliff. Personally, I've always liked the Amari Orchid on the corner there, one of the original Pattaya hotels and usually good knosh.

What is lunch in Pattaya? Most days I find myself eating breakfast upon waking and then eating again around 5ish. Maybe some soup or BBQ chicken in between meals.

Sadly Burger King isn't exactly what anyone would call quality food. :allright

Pig and Whistle, Queen Vic, Tropical Berts...... there are plenty of places he could take her without resorting to BK, McD and the like....

If you are not anti-gay , one of the best places for food and service is La Oliver in Jomtien Complex . As you enter the complex , drive straight ahead and it is either the second or third restaurant on the right . It is run and staffed by gays but the food is really good and they are fantastic in their attention to detail .

Fuji is nice and civilised, there is a BBQ on Pattaya Tai near Big C , its unreal crayfish, big crab, monstor prawns etc 250 baht all the standard stuff.

Not sure if it opens at night rather than lunchtime,

Is she Thai?

If yes, she won't be impressed by any fancy Restaurant unless it's a fancy Thai food restaurant.

I would say for a good lazy lunch head for Moom Arroy in Naklua...Good food. good ambience and plenty of fresh air. At lunchtime you don't get the tourist' groups that have now started to go there at night..although the last time I was there the wine choice was a bit limited I was with a group of three and we managed to drink 2 bottles of wine.....It was me and my two step children aged 8 & 9 :clueless

If it was evening I would say sit outside at the Red Ant in Naklua. Again good food, you can BYO wine but pay a surcharge. .....But leave early before the Ruskies have had too much BYO vodka!!! :clueless

Cabbages and Condoms

Edit: added website link

I would agree with this but have only been to the one in Bangkok. I t was a bit awkward with all the condoms around and even worse when the change came. Insted of mints they had a couple of condoms on the plate. I was not sure what to do but the lady with me grabbed them :-).

Otherwise, I have always liked the place at the very end of the road in Jomtiem. Noit sure of the name but it is the one just as the road turns left. Not sure about lunch but dinner at sunset is always nice.

Still can't believe that suggestion myself. :thumbup

Strange indeed. There has to be more to this than a single expletive.

To Denny, that is a nice upscale place. He prolly orders the whopper, wears the paper crown, and drinks the bottle of juice tied to his belt while telling his date to stick to the 99c menu. :thumbup

Casa Pascal is always a favorite when feeling a bit off; mushroom rissoto, fresh bread, and a few glasses of white with two aspirin is a miracle cure.
