I did Pattaya-Pattaya did me

Recommended Posts

Well I finally did Pattaya.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. Sorry I did not contact anyone, I just prefer to do things by myself, but maybe not anymore as I met some great guys.

I had a fantastic time, no problems at all with my skin, and I will be coming back. Pattaya has done me!

In hindsight it may have been better to meet up with a few board members because I did have some periods of boredom, but I am sure as I get to know the place that will change.

I only managed the FLB bar once, early, and it was quiet. I tended to BF early and spend the night in!!! I stayed at the Queen Victoria, Soi 6, woooooow, what an eye opener of a Soi! Nice place to stay.

I had tried to join another discussion board but was not allowed so I thought I would go and see what the place was all about, the Rockhouse. I am not sure what all the fuss is about because the place is like a front room of a house, only with nobody in it, but as I say, I went out early most days.

I have to admit I am quite scared now, my future and Thailand seem to be linked.

I didn't fall in love, much, only lust.

Good for you mate, Pattaya is addictive because it's unique and paradisical for the sensible single male. Glad you had a good time, but personally speaking it's also the interaction and sheer fun with other punters/residents that makes the place so wonderful - next time hitch up with a few kindred spirits and enjoy both private fun and public exposure (sic) even more.

I regret to tell you that your life will be altered forever. It gets in your blood and no where else will appeal to you the same as Thailand. I tried to get away and the first two weeks of living in Southern California, I wondered why I had ever left Thailand. I did make it back and am happily retired here.

And "it never rains in Southern California"...."underloved, underfed" etc.... the Rockhouse is like the front room of a house and there's rock music so the trade description is about right. It only really works if Mulphy is there and you can understand him I reckon.

Bitten by the bug Shetty..... we've all been there. I'll be there on Thursday!!

Absolutely right to do the first trip "solo" IMO. That way you will see the difference when you do the next trip and become a fully fledged "on the ground" BM.

One thing that every newbie should try is the bar crawls. I recommend putting one high on list of to do's next time.

Good man your on your way to total addiction as the others have said. There are a few things I suggest you pay attention to if you want to keep feeding your addiction and keeping your head above the water (unless you are filthy rich). Find reasonable priced accommodation, dont go heavy on the alcohol, read the board we have all come accross most things but saying that we are always learning.

I don't think many do....it was empty on my visit there,a couple of miserable banshees in the doorway being the only signs of life.

Maybe the regulars were down the hospital after a session of bottling each other?

Thanks for the kind words and advice. Pattaya certainally makes you look at life differently.

Now I have done a scouting trip I will know what to avoid or visit. The Rockhouse is a definite do not bother.

The ?beer garden-that place at the start of Walking Street on the sea front-loved it, great place to chill with or without a lady. I actually picked one up there.

My next trip will be awesome.

As a general rule I believe addictions are bad however an addiction to Pattaya can be positive. Its great to have some place like this to plan and save for and friendships with both boardies and gils can last a long time. I feel rather blessed to have this addiction.

Think I am on my way to addiction also... (Probably a massive number of people on that list!!!!!)

Left Pattaya in March this year, before we got on the plane back home my travel partner was already asking about when we were going back.

After that was said, we got home and started saving and booking for our next visit, December 27th for New year in Pattaya (2 Weeks) then to Phuket to chill some more (2 Weeks)

Going to be EPIC!!!!!

It took me years to figure out the best way for me to minimize that depressive feeling i get on the taxi ride from pattaya to swampy to begin the journey home.

book my return trip prior to leaving, having a return date seems to reduce suisidal tendioucys i get leaving!!!

Welcome to Pattayaitis. No known cure.

Symptons include but are not limited to:

Mood swings for at least a month after coming home from Pattaya.

Continually checking flight prices to BKK from wherever you live (even after youve booked just in case a cheapie comes up because you are planning at least 2 trips ahead)

Staying in at weekends to put extra money into your Pattaya piggy bank

Thinking that going anywhere else in the world for a holiday (vacation) is a waste of time and money

Checking the various pattaya forums continually

Planning retirement in Pattaya because nowhere else matters.

Fortunately it isnt fatal, just a real pull on your bank account

I know how you feel. I have been way about that long also. I will be back in Pattaya in February. The difference as I see it, is I know I am going to get hustled for money but in Pattaya, I can have a much better time letting it happen. I can also stick to my being ripped off budget a lot better in Pattaya than Angeles. Another plus is when I feel that things are becoming too much in one section of bars I can start all over in another section of bars. Choices are very limited in Angeles.

I got rid of my leach in the PI when she sent me the same sob story like it was for the first time in an email 3 days after I sent her some money. . It was only after I read the email for the 3rd time that I noticed my name had changed. Oops! I guess that is a job hazard for professional leaches, the need to make sure they use the right email address. Allen, whoever you are, lots of luck and be careful ! Another advantage of Thailand over the PI is that Xoom does not have any offices in LOS. Now, I have resolved to stay away from long term leases and just do short term rentals. No matter how you look at it, if you want it, you have to pay for it and the price is not always cash.

Everyone have a great day

Good for you. Just keep your head on your shoulders and don't fall for any scams.

Its always nice to hang out with other guys especially during the daytime when there's nothing to do. Join some bar crawls or put up a post to see if any board members are in town to meet up with.

I was hooked on Pattaya after my first trip also.
