Good news...big rain today...we needed it

Usually I am smart enough to stay home when the big rain is on. Unfortunately the wife decided to visit Central yesterday for a beauty appointment. At 7pm I got the phone call. No taxis so please come and get me. Arghhhhh. In the end she had to walk from Central to Third Rd because I just could not get through. Driving on third was a nightmare lots of water and lots of mad drivers.

 

In the end we got home just after 9pm So 2 hours to go about 3 kilometers. Here is some of my dash cam footage of the trip.

My buddy left Tues to fly into BKK then to Jomtien, I haven't heard from him yet!!!! Hope he stayed in BKK for a spell first.

 

Just did, he says "Barely at all I'm here. Streets are mostly fine now"...he's in Jomtien

Happy to say, I'm half-way around the world from the flooding as I write this. I remember the huge flooding on Sept. 11, 2015, when it took me five hours to get from Walking Street to my condo near Tukcom.

Happy to say, I'm half-way around the world from the flooding as I write this. I remember the huge flooding on Sept. 11, 2015, when it took me five hours to get from Walking Street to my condo near Tukcom.

Came back from Bangkok yesterday on the 2pm bus. It was raining by the time we got to town but nothing crazy. That came a bit later.

Part of it is all of the construction so there is less bare ground to absorb the water.

Six inches at best! A few days rain won't make up for what we have missed. The lake doesn't seem to be much of a catchment area, ie not many hills around it to feed it. I have a pool and have probably pumped the aforementioned 6 inches out over the last 3 days. Sadly I am unable to go take a look and may have to cancel my Friday night curry as I have been isolated somewhat due to the floods. (Posted elsewhere).

There's a lovely crop of potholes appearing all over the place following the flood, great if you're out and about on a bike. And the Beach Road walkway is a complete disaster area thanks to shoddy workmanship.

Yes and i take back my compliment about the 2nd road area around Rumpol market.

 

Went passed this morning and quite a lot of water still around hours after the deluge........Pot-holes back.

 

Noticed that there was a lot of 'sharp-sand' laying across the tarmac. What seems to have happened is that the floods have dislodged the sandy soil they've recently dug-over to plant palm-trees in-between carriageways and along the entire length of Jomtien 2nd road......Rght up to where that it joins Suk' at Na-Jomtien. Must be a thousand trees laid.

In the land of Unforeseen consequences........This sand must have filled and blocked sewage pipes so recently laid.

 

Back to square 1.

 

Oh and here comes the rain again!
