Qatar upgrading Manchester

Recommended Posts

October 28th will see Qatar increasing Manchester to 18 flights a week and the A350 replacing the 787 Nightmareliner on the morning and afternoon flights....... the evening flight will remain as a Nightmateliner duty....

Yippee!!! Hopefully I've suffered my last Nightmareliner flight for a long time!!!!

Thanks for posting. I have been avoiding Qatar airways from MAN like the plague ever since I went on their B787.

I've suffered the Nightmareliner on 5 trips from MAN....... so I'm ecstatic about the upgrade to the A350.....

I've booked with Qatar for October, but flying the A350 from EDI..... was about £250 each cheaper flying from EDI and for me EDi is about the same distance as driving down to MAN.

Is it so bad? I have used the Qatar 787 once from Manchester, up front, and I found it an OK flight. Better than the old 777s.

That is quite a saving just by going up to Edinburgh.

I found the business seats to be more comfortable on the 787 but the 777 seats are more private. With the all facing forward herringbone, the only other person you see is the one walking past you. Very private.

Well one of my last 777 flights the Biz seats were side by side which isn't private at all, I think that was an Emirates from Manchester. Nice to change to an A380 at Dubai.

In cattle class it's bad..... the seat pitch is so bad that if the person in front reclines it hits my knees..... even Mrs Fiend finds it cramped..... Put it this way she found flying on a 12 year old Qatar A340-600 a lot more enjoyable.....

We've got A350 and A340 on our next trip!!!!

I had to check this out so I went to seatguru.com. Turns out that Emirates is still using the 2-3-2 lay out for all of its 777 business class seats. Those seats are just a little better than premium economy on the old A340 Thai planes. You need to try business class on on a plane with the 1-2-1 herringbone layout. It is comfortable enough that some airlines are eliminating the first class section because of it.

This is pretty fucked up on Emirates part. Another way that Emirates has fucked up (I digress here) was when the first photo of the Thai boys trapped in the cave came out, one of the Emirates boys was clearly wearing a Emirates soccer shirt. Had I been the CEO of Emirates I would have diverted every resource I had to getting them out.

Well my next flight on a 777 I believe it is a 2-4-2 Biz layout, albeit staggered . So it is getting worse! Guess which carrier from BKK! I can't afford Emirates!

I read all these comments with complete wonderment. I am simple happy to get to Thailand 4 times a year. Fuck the reviews. Just get me there for a month in the sun with a Thai girl most nights and I would sit on the back end of a broomstick!

Well I actually live in Thailand and am heading outwards. Not the same things to be drooling for......

My working life involved a lot of flying and airports.... to endure it retired, I want it to be as tolerable as possible.

Etihad just sent me a special offer email and I could have got my UK flight for 95,465 baht on them, a few coppers more than I paid for BA with slightly inconvenient timings. Bummer.... just heard BA had one of their 'chaos at Heathrow, computer glitches' again. Wish I had been more patient!

Book by 25 July for travel from 1 August 2018 until 31 May 2019.

Darn, 7 a day, they should be selling tickets at the airport. On top of Emirates and others hell of a frequency.

As from 22nd May 2019 the three daily flights to be 787-8 ??

From 1st October it became...

QR021 DOH0135 0700MAN 359 D

QR027 DOH0810 1335MAN 359 D

QR023 DOH1445 2010MAN 788 x357

QR022 MAN0820 1715DOH 359 D

QR028 MAN1510 0005+1DOH 359 D

QR024 MAN2125 0620+1DOH 788 x357

1st December it changes to...

QR021 359 D

QR027 77W D

QR023 788 x357

QR022 359 D

QR028 77W D

QR024 788 x357

I'd hazard a guess that from 22nd May it will become unless they switch QR27/QR28 back to A359...

QR021 359 D

QR027 77W D

QR023 788 D

QR022 359 D

QR028 77W D

QR024 788 D

If the 77W stays on the afternoon flight I'll either aim for booking QR21/QR22 or fly from EDI unless EDI changes back to 788.

Staggering. Am guessing Emirates must be similar

I think Emirates is 6 daily if you include the Hong Kong and Sydney flights that call at Bangkok en-route.

Lets wait and see what aircraft Qatar eventually decide to use on this route.

From 1st Dec 18 Emirates will introduce 2 class A380 (615 passengers) on flights EK021/022 daily to Dubai. This replaces 3 class A380.

It's turning into quite a fight between QR and EK at Manchester....
