I'm not sure where pork-belly originates.......I'd never had it before, or my mate. It was my son who lives in Australia now that first suggested trying the dish. If you like succulent pork.....and crisp crackling its worth a try.

I went there for the first time on Saturday with my son who's over..... He enjoyed flicking through the sports channels on our table and his Lancashire Hot-pot.......I had a burger..... which I rarely do. They fill you up but i rarely relish them. We left before the famous Saturday free drink at 4.27. I'll go again with mates...not girls........but for the sport not the food. For me, for falang food it's Maggs round the corner in Teprasit ...... particularly their pork belly special.....The pork-belly is slow cooked then rendered and stored under weight in the fridge........Compressing the crackling and pushing the juices through into the meat.....Before serving the crackling goes under the grill to crisp it to crunchy perfection..... Also their lamb shanks or roasts are very, very hard to beat. My mate of 53 years who was over, came with me to Maggs on his last night here. Ever the epicurean, his face when he tasted the pork belly was pure bliss. He did that thing with the thumb touching the ring finger where you almost kiss them and then rolled his eyes to heaven.....Collected himself and uttered the ultimate commendation of.."Good shout atlas" And you can't say better than that! ......Well he can't.

We all thought that.......but we don't think they've merged as yet. There's still time to save your marriage MM....

My son's here.......I stock the freezer with magnums......(Ice-creams......not those Dirty Harry guns). Saturday night he goes to take one out of the freezer and tells me they have defrosted...... OK need to fix this or get a new Toyen (Fridge)........I decide that after nearly 10 years it's time anyway to upgrade. Sunday morning 8 am...Tesco see several I like.....but head off to Home Works....closed......Bugger! Next door to Big C.........see what I want(reduced from 13000 to just under 10000 baht.......and order it. "When can you deliver?' 'Before 12' "Will you take away old 'Toyen'?" This is important to me and a 'no' is a deal breaker. He nods as though he understands but i can tell he doesn't.......I ask for someone with better English than my Thai......He nods as though he understands but I can tell he doesn't. I call my 'on-off'....currently 'on' who's over from Europe and put her on the phone to the salesman. 2 mins later having spoken to her he's galvanised into action.......He will now follow my car with the Toyen and deliver immediately. I walk to my car and within 2 mins of getting to it he's joining me on Sukhumvit with the toyen strapped onto a pick-up.......I chase him down and overtake in Teprasit........He follows me to my condo. By 9 .15 I have a new Toyen. It turns out that when my 'on-off explained that I I didn't want anything for my old machine.....That he could have it.....for naught.... he couldn't believe his luck. Whatever he makes from it, he's welcome .....After 10 years I've no complaints. In England for a delivery time they'll give you the 3rd Thursday in the month........And a time before 5pm.....which usually means a day of waiting in and an arrival at 4.45.pm Probably they will refuse to take the old one away......or they'll charge you for it's disposal. My son over from Australia was equally impressed.......

I think her husband has a point.

Not a fan of religion but there's been some great devotional music over the last 2000 years. This is incredible and its always hopeful to see children so talented. Do yourselves a favour and give both clips a view......You'll be glad you did. The girl in the middle has such a delicate voice ............Hope she grows out of the eczema like I did.

I thought I'd found 'Indian heaven' with this place..........That was about 2 years ago....Then the owner and chef moved. The current chef's food I thought was disappointing. Even though this place is so close I never went back. Instead I tracked the original chef to his new restaurant on soi kowtalo. Just how I like an 'Indian' to be........ Having said that, the photos here look to be an improvement on what i was served up a few years back. It's a pain going over to Kowtalo so i'll give this place another try. Thanks Gabor.

Well didn't think I needed to start a new thread........So just saying last night I watched, 'The Night Manager' on Kodi..(genesis).....Really enjoyed it.....Le Carre' knows his stuff. Recently and before release seen all the Oscar nominations........Up-to-date with all the series I like......and of course get lashings of sport. These boxes.......(I got mine from a different supplier) are great. Best thing I've ever bought here.

That was a triumph.......

I find myself liking Jimmy Nail....... He's more of an actor than a musician.........I've always thought ......Never taken him seriously. But this song gets me. Touches that nostalgic nerve.........I'm not even a Geordie .........But I can remember 'when coal was king' Mark Knopfler's guitar doesn't hurt either.

Used her company 3 times recently. I had her sisters and booked for a friend who actuall got Nam herself..... All gave a top class service. It's nice when you can safely endorse or recommend someone.

All I can remember from school in the late 50s and early 60s was: A mathematician named Hall Had a hexehedonical ball The cube of its weight plus his pecker, times eight was four fifths, of five eighths...... of fuck-all.

English, (mostly) speaking neighbours will always have a pop at each other. Look at the Aussies and the Kiwis but they stand together when it matters. The UK is the quintessential example of that.......... I recall a story about Bin laden capturing 4 soldiers......And Englishman, an Irishman, a Scot and a Welshman. He asked each one for his last request. The Welshman said I'd like a choir of Welshman to sing, 'We'll keep a Welcome in the Hillside' The Scot said he wanted 100 pipers to play, 'The Northern Lights of Aberdeen' The Irishman said he wanted 300 Irishmen dancing 'The River dance' The Englishman said 'Shoot me first"
