I am curious as well what they will do with the old signs. I would consider buying it, for the right price.

Bada Bing? The name has a certain resonance. Not Arab-owned is it, I think Badabing is Arabian for 'condom', though I could be wrong (the Arabs invented the condom in 1272, using the lower intestine of goats. In 1853 the Brits improved on this by removing the intestine from the goat first).

I was thinking they were The Sopranos fans. That's the name of the sleazy strip club they hung out in.

Wasnt Bada bing (Bada Boom), used in the movie, The Fifth Element??

Maybe...the Wikipedia commentary is:

The club's title is a stereotypical Italian-American expression, also rendered as "bada bing bada boom" or "bada boom bada bing". The use of Bada Bing as the name of the club and elsewhere in the series popularized the catchphrase such that it was added to the 2003 Oxford Dictionary as an exclamation to emphasize that something will happen effortlessly and predictably. Bada bing is imitative of the sound of a drumroll or may also derive from the "bada-bing" sound effect that James Caan's character, Sonny Corleone, makes to describe an up-close shooting in The Godfather.

I thought it had maybe taken its name from this club in London -

Or maybe this club http://www.au.timeou.../2895/bada-bing , eh?

or this one? http://www.ftlauderdalelimo.com/bada-bing-limo.php

Or this one in Bangkok:

There was (is?) a Bada Bing in Pattaya near Hammer's Cherry Bar on Soi 8. And a beer bar in Queen's Plaza in BKK used to be called Bada Bing. I knew the former owner there and it was named after the fictional bar in The Soprano's.

Evil

Indeed! Apart from sharing the same name, do you think there is any connection between them?

I gave what I thought might the origin earlier in the thread. The Sopranos first aired in 1999. If any of those clubs were open before that, then that would disprove the idea the term came from the club in the HBO series.

Maybe the author of The Sopranos got the idea from one of the clubs listed.

Failing to certify either, I guess we can go with Bushcraft's derivation.

Well Bada Bing was the strip club in Sopranos, a phrase that became popular from James Caan in the Godfather.

Or were you just lining up the condom line?

Maybe the guys from Goodfellas are continuing with their mafia theme?

10000 to 1800 baht a month. That is approx $350 to $600 US dollars a month. No wonder so many of these girls now do not see the need to barfine when they make enough money to keep themselves and their Thai boyfriends happy. I could be wrong but I just returned from AC and I think the girls make about 120 peso a day which works out to about $3.00 US dollars a day. More incentive on their part to barfine.

The Bada Bing was situated beside the toilets behind the Cherry Bar. It was the wrong concept at the wrong time and in the wrong position. To have three people in it was an achievement. As far as a I recall it closed about 2 years ago after about 12 months in operation and no one was suprised at its passing.
