Thai air early morning arrival Swampy

Recommended Posts

Hi

Watching Flightradar24, I counted 14 flights heading into Swampy between 0500 and 0630. That's over 3500 pax , possibly even 4000 if each flight is full (777's and A380's). Not ideal if your plane at the back of the queue.

Has anyone had the misfortune to arrive at this time of the morning, the reason I ask is that the midday flight from LHR might be on the cards for me in the future, and while I will fast track through immigration, which isn't really an issue, that's an awful lot of people coming in in one hit I wondered how the traffic and how busy the arrival hall gets at that time.

Thai are currently coming in 200 quid cheaper than EVA for the same dates on all services.

I've come in at that time of the morning, but I don't recall any major issues. Lots of immigration officers were on duty, so the wait there wasn't so bad. The only problem I had was that I got to my hotel very very very early. I didn't want to wait until the normal check-in time, so I paid 600 baht to check in early. I was dead tired and just wanted to sleep.

I always fly in on TG911.....arriving around 6 in the morning. Only ever smallish queues, and fast moving too....five to fifteen minutes and then collect the luggage which is usually just arriving on the carousel. Seems busy at arrivals with many taxi drivers holding up their passenger name cards.

Always a clear run to Pattaya.....only traffic hold-ups are on reaching Pattaya.... sometimes on Sukhumvit and again on Klang...but no big deal.

I always seem to check in at my hotel at 8 am, and the room has always been available.

You shouldn't have a problem.

Yep, same same here. I've sometimes had a little delay going through immigration, but nothing to write home about. Always have to wait a little bit for luggage, but again, no real dramas and no real issues on the roads.

Good stuff chaps, thanks. Early check in is maybe a necessary evil, but for the sake of a few hundred baht it's not really a deal breaker, especially if I'm saving 200 quid over the next cheapest fare. The evening Thai flight for the same dates is 80 quid more, but the early flight will work a lot better for me on this occasion should I avail of it. Besides, Hotel rates in July are not too horrific.

I usually arrive around about 7'ish in the morning and there are usually big queues at immigration, but me and Mrs Fiend go through the Thai and ASEAN desks so always get through quite quickly.

If youre going in on that early morning flight, then pay for the VIP pass. I did last time and was off the plane and into the taxi within 15 minutes.

The immigration queues were horrendous and the longest we had to wait was for the luggage.

I always fast track now regardless GP. Ever since it took me 55 mins to get through immigration once and then we hit the traffic coming out of BKK one Friday night, I've used it.

I have never contacted them because I am fortunate enough to have a friend who arranges it all that end when I ask him to, however I think the website from outside LOS is this:

https://www.limousine.in.th/fast-track-immigration.html

Apologies if it is the wrong one, it is merely the result of a simple google search.

I used these people:

https://www.bangkokflightservices.com/home/bfs-services/premium-airport-services/

Met me outside the aircraft, and I was on the little electric cart. whizzed through immigration and then to Baggage reclaim.

Yep that's the better service, in fact the girl on the front page picture is the one that met me last trip!. Anyone reading my post, ignore my link as that service is more expensive, yours is much better GP. good find mate.

Thanks. That is perfect.

I have passed it on to my son who is visiting at Songkran and I shall use it when I take a holiday in sunny Dorset later in the year...

I arrived 06.00 From the ThaI TG911, flight in January........

I expected massive queues.......but was very pleasantly surprised! One of my shortest "waits"! ever.

What did you think of the A380 Thai service Marleyboy?.

I now withdraw that approval.....

My flight was about half an hour late incoming, due to delays at Heathrow which didn't get cancelled out during the journey.

Result was it arrived at the same time as flights from India and the queues were horrendous. Probably about an hour in line.

Worst I've ever seen!

I like it!

They seem quieter than the 747 or the 777 too.

Going over I had 2 seats to myself...but coming back the plane was practically full.

I "think" though, that if you leave Heathrow on the Thai 21.00 ish flight....they still use a 777.

The service was good though...(as its always been when Ive used Thai).

The problem I have with Thai is, are they going to let the seats run down badly as they did in their 747's. My last trip on one of their 747's a few years back was hell. The bottom seat foam was so worn and thin I was sitting on the baseboard

This doesn't have to do with early morning arrival, but last night (Thursday) at 11.15 p.m. the immigration area at Swampy was more crowded than I've seen it in a long time. The feeder "snake" to immigration control was jammed and spilled out past the usual area. There were huge queues as well as to the passport control for Thais. Even the Premium Lanes were busier than I've seen before- about 20 people ahead of me in each of the three lanes. But the officer in the lane I chose was stamping passports fast and I got through in about 15 minutes.

I get "Priority" stickers on my suitcases and my two checked bags were already on the baggage carousel by the time I got there. So the breakdown was

11.00 p.m. Flight from Tokyo touches down.

11.05 p.m. At Gate

11.15 p.m. Had de-planed and walked to immigration control.

11.30 p.m. Picked up bags

11.45 p.m. Sitting in car on my way to Pattaya

1.05 a.m. Back in my condo.

While immigration was very crowded, it didn't delay me much because I use the Premium Lane. The rest of my return home went as smoothly. From landing to unlocking my condo door in two hours and five minutes isn't bad at all.

Has anyone used the Over Seventies desk? I believe that this is to the far right hand side of the immigration area and is also used by wheel chair passengers as well. As I understand it the queue is short and quick. I have never bothered with it but have been told by a number of people that it is a good service for the golden oldies.

I did. I was told about this before but in 3 trips Ive never been able to find it. Thats why we pay for the VIP service but if I found that gate I could just ask for the wheelchair option

Being over 70 years of age I always use the premium lanes when arriving and departing. For arrivals use the Premium lanes that are signposted and which are located in between the two normal immigration areas. For departures they are located at the bottom of the escalators that take the younger people up to security then down to departing immigration. Allow 5 minutes or so to complete the formalities.
