Cobra Gold 2018 (updated Jan. 17, 2018)
yorta2 replied to Evil Penevil's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I was living in Perth (Western Australia) in around 2003, when a well known brothel on William Street closed its doors (right next door to a Muslim mosque). On the door was a sign posted that read: WE'RE CLOSED, BEAT IT! -
I think that BarFAX was better, and probably more relevant(although maybe not in this thread).

I just keep a few beers, a bottle of Scotch, a couple of small bottles of Gatorade/Red Bull (or similar)and a cylinder of Berocca. I just rely on the bottled water for my Scotch - don't touch the stuff otherwise....

Cobra Gold 2018 (updated Jan. 17, 2018)
yorta2 replied to Evil Penevil's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I was in the Australian Navy in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, and whenever we came into a few more notorious ports, Thailand ports not being included, we were provided a list of 'establishments we were barred from. That list became the first bars we visited, as we knew what we wanted. In those days, nobody was charged for doing so, but bad cases of VD were seen as being 'your own fault'. The Navy has now changed and cannot be as good as it was for me. -
Thanks for the science lesson.... Well done again Monkeyman.

The Whisper Hotel, Soi 15 off 2nd Road
yorta2 replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Thanks, Evil, looks quite good. Hope the price stays for awhile. -
Same as used cars advertised in newspapers. When you turn up at the dealer: "Oh that one has gone, but we have another similar one that is only $2000.00 more".

Honey Hotel Bangkok. Still Open?
yorta2 replied to Goldpanner's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I had heard it was closing on 30 September this year, but have since heard that it may stay open until 31 December. If it is actually open or not, I cannot say. -
Welcome back, Wok & Rok. Look forward to spending there inn April. Please be open.

Best time of year to go to Pattaya?
yorta2 replied to Tucker_69er's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Tucker_69er, I usually go to Pattaya at the end of April into early May an have never found myself short of a girl or a good time. Room prices drop immediately after Songkran and as long as your don't want a quite expensive hotel, you will easily find good accommodation within your budget. I usually stay up around Soi Buakhao/Soi LK Metro/Soi Lengkee area in a myriad of small hotels that have good air-conditioned rooms, good bathrooms, big beds and are close to everything you will ever need. Have fun! -
You need to get a REAL life....

Looking for a cheap Guesthouse/hotel with a pool?
yorta2 replied to Fornicator's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Try 'Opey De Place' - a nice little hotel with a pool, on Soi Lengkee. Your budget should cover it.... -
misteregg Tells You Why To Come To Pattaya
yorta2 replied to misteregg's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Hmm, makes me wish I was there right now. I guess you REALLY think there are too many 'A's in Pattaya, and you are probably right. I know a few.... I love the video. -
Ha Ha - I like that.

Oh Oh, Groundhog Day! - Didn't you say pretty well the same thing 2 years ago, Jacko? "Thanksgiving day already. Time does fly". Except that I don't think it is Thanksgiving, or is it?

And, never het into a disagreement with a Thai (male or female).

Thanks again, monkeyman.

Okay, but to take a train to Sukhumvit from Swampy isn't as easy as you are making out. How do you get a train from the airport to Sukhumvit? And going back is still again a pain in the arse if you have baggage. I sometimes find that it is easier (on the way back) to get a taxi to Makassan station from Sukhumvit, then jumping on the train. But you need to find what works for you....
-
Yes, used the train a few times, but if you catch it around peak hour (for me that was about 5pm from Swampy) it is very crowded within 1 or 2 stations. If you have baggage it is a pain in the arse, and other passengers don't give you any sympathy. Then (for me) I have to catch another train to Nana. I quite enjoy the trip when I have very little baggage, though. I would love to see a free bus from Swampy to Sukhumvit, but baggage would still be a hassle.

Hello everyone, greetings from James Kyn
yorta2 replied to James_KYN's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Yeah, welcome. Post a few photos of clean carpets, and we'll post a few of carpet lickers who also do a good job.... -
Thanks for that. On the other hand, last week I did see some pirated H.D. 'T' shirts for sale at one of the stalls on the even numbered side of Sukhumvit Road, just up from Nana Station, at about 5.00pm. I bought one at the Night Market in Hua Hin only a day before.

Okay, but where?

Metro for me too. Very pleasant place for a chat, Guinness on tap , pleasant staff, and Golf Club food quite good, as well as having some pool tables in pretty good nick. Mine Host, Dennis McConville is a great bloke too.

I heard that the Pentagon has given a 2.1 million dollar contract to United Airlines to remove Assad from Syria, if he resists after asking him kindly a couple of times....

ikkrang posted this recently: "Announcement by Nam’s Taxi: “Nam’s Taxi goes on Holiday” From April 14 until and including April 20, Nam will not be providing any taxi services in Pattaya or elsewhere. The past few years have shown to Nam very few drivers are willing to stay in Pattaya to drive, and the roads are so congested that an airport run can easily take four hours. Songkran is very much a family holiday event, and she wants to give her drivers an opportunity to spend time with their children and family. So Nam has decided to take a week off, her first holiday in ov
