  1. I certainly would not want any of those folks in exit row of a flight I was on
  2. One of the elevators at VT2A (sorry Gabor) is acting up. In one afternoon: --A large number of people get on at the first floor but the overweight alarm doesn't come on. Instead the doors close, the elevator tries to move and the floor light goes to F (fail?). The people within reach of the control panel, all farang, just stand there until I say to push the open button. That worked. --Later a lot of people board the same elevator going down. It gets to the first floor, the F comes on, but the open button does not work. The call button gets a response in 1-2 minutes and two staff guys are opening the doors from the outside. However, the farang men in front are just watching instead of trying to help. The elevator had stopped a few inches below floor level. I will be avoiding that elevator if I can help it.
  3. Last night, when I ordered ice tea with my dinner at the Jomtien Pig and Whistle, my waitress was quite concerned I knew it was canned rather than home made. I guess Short must have been there earlier.
  4. And you get a good workout due to the weight of it.
  5. This is to the left in Happy alley on the way in to Happy ago go just short of it. I'm sure it's a short time facility and had a suggestion it may be the favorite of the Happy dancers. Anyone have comments about it either good or bad?
  6. Wasn't aware those had nonprescription variations. If I'm incorrect, it might be the one you went to didn't stock the nonprescription variation. Also, they may not have understood exactly what you were asking for.
  7. Korean Air operated a 747 on the flight from Seoul-Incheon last night (Jan 7) and it was full. They had another flight a couple of hours later. Immigration was busy at 9:30pm, with about 5-10 minutes to get to the counter.
  8. I know the feeling after having bought a condo in the U.S. at the beginning of 2007. All (most?) Of the exchange booths at Suvarnabhumi were selling baht at 31.33 to the USD last night. The K-bank outlet just east of Soi 15 had 31.90 to the USD this morning.
  9. They actually play it straight and both Miller and Liu have interesting twists on the characters. You have to pay attention to catch everything.
  10. Multi-quote function! Who are you and what did you do with BigD?:-)
  11. On at least some airlines, it depends on how many miles you fly in one year or, perhaps, some longer period.
  12. I'll accept that's what the news story said but it's a little strange as Singapore Airlines has 4 or 5 flights a day just on the Singapore-Bangkok run.
  13. Ya' think. I decided several years ago that I would never again fly in the butt end of an American MD-80. God invented American Express cards for a reason.
  14. I have this very vague memory that where I came from in the U.S. midwest, the water temperature had to be 72F/22.2C (or higher) for a public pool to open. If it was that cold or anything close to it, it was strong encouragement to swim laps with great enthusiasm. That was when I was 16 years old. Now
  15. Had a transfer to K-bank post today (2 January) at 32.68 to the USD.
  16. Saw my doppelganger in one of the NP shots. No, not my avatar, although I suspect he was there too and didn't draw much attention .
  17. I do okay with English breakfast, Pattaya style, except for the embalmed tomato. The baked beans at that time of day are weird but tolerable.
  18. When I think of really tasty french fries from my past, it's crinkle cut, high fat, straight from the deep frier (although probably not lard) with lots of salt. Probably haven't had them since the last extended period of time I spent in my home town, which was almost 30 years ago. Needless to say, heart disease was the traditional way to shuffle off this mortal coil.
  19. I understand the sentiment, but on due consideration, that is going a step too far. I would not see a problem with immediate, and I do mean immediate, ejection from the bar.
  20. But then it's harder to sell U.S. goods overseas and all those electronics made in China and elsewhere are cheaper for us to buy and the trade deficit gets bigger. There are no easy answers.
  21. I doubt they serve them frozen.
  22. That's my understanding
  23. This is how the MovieSeer site http://www.movieseer.com/th/movies/28024--American_Bullshit_(American_Hustle) is listing the recently released movie American Hustle. Critical comment? SF Cinema City just has American Hustle on their site.
  24. Something for which to be thankful!:-)
